Glad you came to Tucson. It's 1 of only 2 cities in America that are Certified Gastronomy cities...the other city is San Antonio
The most famous Mexican restaurant in Tucson is El Charro Cafe Downtown (100 yrs old) where the Chimichanga (fried burrito) was invented
The best place for Sonoran Hot Dogs is El Guero Canelo & BK (both Southside locations), they also have some of the best Carne Asada Tacos
Other famous Mexican Restaurants are Boca y Tequila by Chef Maria Mazon, Mi Nidito, Seis Kitchen, Rollies Mexican Patio, Taqueria Pico de Gallo, and of course Tacos Apson (which you've already been too)
BTW, Cup Cafe is known for their Mexican breakfast dishes, and not their American breakfast dishes. They have 5 main Mexican breakfast dishes
The barbacoa tacos at Los Tacos Apson are quite possibly the best barbacoa I've ever had. Corn tortilla, then add cabbage, lime, green sauce (creamy avacado like), and topped off with red salsa. Chef's kiss! 😘

I miss the Tucson tacos! My all time favorite is Taqueria Pico De Gallo in South Tucson.

The Quality Inn on 22nd St/ Freeway.. My friend is a manager there... Just No motels. Other than that plenty of hotels to stay.. We have many places to eat tacos.. If you come, try a Sonoran Hotdog, ask for a "Chipilon Hotdog". The bread is toasted, that's the only difference. Chipilon means " spoiled" that means they go Xtra mile for U.

So Kim. Do you have to drive a lot there? It looks like a fun place to visit. Is Tuscon a town with things centrally located, or is it spread out where car rental is needed. Did you stay in a hotel or a hostel? Looks like you had so much fun
Hi Melanie!! I rented a car when I was there and in my opinion, I think it might be a little difficult to get around without a car. However, you could Uber and I'm sure that would be fine. I absolutely love Tucson and would go back in a heartbeat. I found things to be more or less centrally located and the drive was never more than 5-10 minutes away from the hotel I was staying at (which was pretty centrally located). Now where things get a bit more spread out is visiting some of the historical spots and landmarks. I started the trip solo and then a friend came out and joined me for the rest of it. I would highly recommend! 💕

Hi Kim, are you sure it was mayonnaise on the last taco? I have never been there, but sour cream is the condiment of choice with Tucson tacos. Spoken like a native! Thanks for your review making people want Tucson tacos@
They are originally from Nogales. I'm from Nogales and growup we would always put mayo on our tacos and Chimichagas as well.

I'm not gonna lie I thought you were going to disappoint but you didn't. You went to most of my favorite taco spots and showed us what they are all about very well. I would recommend the taco apson it's there specialty taco and I would recommend you try taquaria juanitos on grant and rollies mexican patio on 12th ave not far from apson.

😂😂😂They were soooo good! When I went, the weather was so nice. It was hot, but dry and felt cooler than the actual temperature. Apparently after that, it gets unbearably hot. 🥵

Thank you Brook! Oh Phoenix and Tucson are amazing! I really like Arizona a lot. Yes! I have been to San Juan! But it’s been years! I was also with a local as I went with my roommate at the time who was from there. But I have a couple friends who have traveled there solo and had a blast. You’ll def have to keep your guard up, but I think it’s a great option. 💕
