At stocked lakes, I’ve had a ton of luck using a bobber with a wax worm at the end. No splitshot. You’d make a cast and the wax worm would slowly sink and drag behind the bobber
I remember going out on my grandfather's boat and trolling around fishing for rainbow trout on the lakes where I live. Miss those days. We mainly used Thomas buoyant spoons to catch them. Hoping within the next few years I an get my own boat and make some memories with my family. Awesome video man. Keep up the great work.
@@RealisticFishing I know my grandfather used to always sell them in his shop. But I haven't been able to find them in typical sporting goods stores where I am. I live in Massachusetts. The walmarts around here carry them though
I only fish using spinners and rarely switch it up. I recommend Joe’s Flies in a few different patterns. They catch me stocked rainbows and natives, brown trout, and steelhead. It’s a very satisfying catch, but you have to fish really fast water to get into the best feeding lanes of the aggressive trout. Great video man!
Luis T Joes flies are my go to trout spinner as well! Stores in PA can’t keep up with the demand for them lately. Lol. Blade always spins no matter how fast you retrieve. I’ve had blade problems with other big name brands in the past.
It all depends on the water! Big lakes and ponds are great for power bait, because the water is cold at the bottom, and in stand still water the fish are lazy. Creeks and river are spinner targets. Spinners fishing is more skill based, because you need to avoid rocks, and sticks, knowing where to cast is also key. I personally will pick spinner any day, I rather see that fish come out of nowhere, and smash the spinner. And if you haven’t ever caught a trout or any fish on a spinner, you are definitely missing out on the best action side of fishing.
Good thing you made it. Next time, if there is one, try walking with the current, parallel to the bank yet slightly toward it at an angle. It's similar to getting caught in a ripper at the beach. It's easier to make the walk. Career lifeguard instructor here. Tight lines!

Great vid! We dont have too much success with spinners for Trout but the ones that do work for us is the Blue Fox (silver and blue) or a pink Mepps. However they work best in Spring when the trout seem to be more aggressive.
Trout have been finicky in my area lately. I have been powerbaiting on several outings and the spinners have been hitting better here for sure. Great video as always!
Knowing your waters and choosing baits/lures that the fish ACTUALLY want... now that's keeping it realistic. Tight lines. PS That white "webby" stuff was probably water-fowl down.

Mepps are great, I have more of them than I probably should. I tend to catch more on double loon spinners though. Either way I catch fish on both pretty reliably.
A Black and Gold (or silver) Panter Martin is my spinner of choice. I never had luck with the painted ones. The smaller silver or gold Kastmasters (slow retrieve) have been good to me too. I also love power eggs too ;) Keep up the good work! Happy Fishing - Keep it Realistic!
we've only caught one stocked trout, I was like "wtf, there are rainbow trout here?!" and some guy was like yeah they stocked them a couple days ago lol the more you know
Too funny man. I live in AZ and the trout here won't touch the doughs. I've tried it all. They'll eat mice tails and spinners all freaking day long. Peace and keep it realistic!
I think it depends on stocking. Newly stocked fish go for anything, older fish become used to natural food. Someone will always suggest a method you haven't used because its impossible to be proven wrong. The secret is knowing your own waters and knowing your own fish. Here in the uk we almost always use flies for trout. Few if any waters allow spinners or natural baits. Great vid Alex. Conclusion: stick to what you know works.
Hey Alex, love your videos! Don't write off spinners for trout just yet. Trout hunt facing upstream and waiting for food sources to be carried with the current and ambush them. A hunting trout will ignore a spinner moving upstream. Make your casts upstream and reel downstream just fast enough to keep the blades turning. You'll have much better luck! Tight lines!

Getting your quads workout. Surprised you didn't get a bump or follow with a spinner. I used to live or die by them. Now they're part of a larger arsenal.
When I have used a spinner the best results I've had is when I cast upstream, which to me at first didn't make much sense, until i had an old guy that guides for trophy trout explained to me that when you cast it up stream and retrieve it, it allows the trout to see the bait longer since they are naturally facing up stream. Madd sense once he told me that and definitely improved my catch rate on spinners. Hope this is helpful for you, it was for me. Thanks for your videos.
Fishing spinners my reel of choice is an old Zebco 33. The closed bail reels don't twist the line up as much. Some laugh at me for still using an old Zebco 33 but I love that reel!
"switch!.... SWITCH!! " -me halfway through the video And how about that rising water? That escalated quickly! Glad you're ok, but please don't let it happen again!!
My favorite bait to use for trout is corn soaked in garlic salt. I use it in a small pond setting kinda curious to see if it works in a river. Good luck my friend!!!

Wow, that current got crazy strong! Not the adrenaline rush you were looking for! But great video to demonstrate that no one technique or method will work in all locations. Things can literally change day to day.
I come from the mountains of NC where trout are very abundant and natural in a lot of our waters and not stocked. In my opinion if you want to use a spinner the Panther Martin is a good choice, but on a bright day I would suggest a silver blade and light colored body, and a cloudy/overcast day use a gold blade and dark body. And I’ve found that either casting up stream and reeling with the current trying to get close to current seams/structure or cross current. Trout usually face upstream and dart out to feed on anything being washed down stream. Power dough and power eggs, I’ve always done better using those and bottom bouncing when fishing for stocked trout like those in the Caney Fork, I live in Nashville and fish that stretch as well, tight lines man and keep keeping it realistic.
To date I have 6 trophy fish on spinners but part of it is confidence. They work best when the fish are not feeding. Sunny silver cloudy copper. For trout #2 mepps.
That water rising was scary! Glad you’re alright. I’ve used spinners for trout but typically in considerably clearer water, like up in mountains in glacial runoff rivers. Everyone’s a critic, man. Glad you have confidence in your approach. Don’t let those trolls give you a hard time. If they don’t like it, they can start their own RUclips channel lol
Very jealous. Up here, best time for trout is April to early June. Wish I could be fishing trout in the fall. In fact, even for bass, my fishing season is basically over, as they've headed to deeper water :( I only recently got into trout fishing, but I've had good results with a spinner in still water (haven't tried a river yet). I'll try a bottom rig next spring to see how it works out. Good luck getting your Fall trout.
I always slam on a spinner i cant believe they didnt smash it. What a beautiful trout creek though. I would love to throw some trout power bait in it. Good stuff as always
I love, and use inline spinners very often, but not every place, and time is right for them. I mostly catch warm water species on them like, bass, sunfish, crappies, perch, chain pickerel, and more often than not, out of lakes and ponds. I have caught stocked trout years ago, on a fire tiger rooster tail from a pond.

Confidence can mean everything when it comes to a specific bait. Congrats on the trophies!
One of my favorite trout lures are jigs like trout magnets and gulp minnows they work well on stocked and wild trout
That was a close call. Your legs got a workout. Great video keeping it real
they can still get it done 😁
That water rising was scary! Glad you’re alright.
I’ve used spinners for trout but typically in considerably clearer water, like up in mountains in glacial runoff rivers. Everyone’s a critic, man. Glad you have confidence in your approach. Don’t let those trolls give you a hard time. If they don’t like it, they can start their own RUclips channel lol
Use what works for you!
Fishing is just like anything else... It's to be learned and respected.
Thanks, I hope its a good trout season 👍
I like in-line spinners, they help me stay focus 😂 😂
I always slam on a spinner i cant believe they didnt smash it. What a beautiful trout creek though. I would love to throw some trout power bait in it. Good stuff as always
That water sound is so relaxing lol.
Wow that's awesome how the water picked up!! I have never seen anything like that. Great video Alex 👍
Spinner looks good but the bottom rig is where it's at.
😉 Its the most tactical
I love, and use inline spinners very often, but not every place, and time is right for them. I mostly catch warm water species on them like, bass, sunfish, crappies, perch, chain pickerel, and more often than not, out of lakes and ponds. I have caught stocked trout years ago, on a fire tiger rooster tail from a pond.
I got a few jars of that trout bait myself plan on using them soon, them damn dragonflys this is a family show!
Im powerbait guy. Works i got my 1st 16in rainbow on PB corn maize.
Kool video Alex . I thought you'd go full road rage with that snag/tangle.
You ever try yo-zuri pins minnow for trout ? I used to do well with them back in N.Y.
never tried that one
@@RealisticFishing send me your shipping info . I'll send you some trout lures . I don't get to fish for trout anymore . Live in Florida now
I use the all gold Blue Fox spinners. Caught a native brown and stocked rainbow on it today. The all gold are the only spinners I have luck with
I say stay with the tried and true. Great video my friend.
That white stuff floating in the water is from a Cottonwood Tree. We have them Everywhere here in the Texas Panhandle.
Great video keep them coming 👍
So you bounce the bait up and down for the dough? I usually just leave it. I wonder if I try that, maybe it will help?
