@@ridesofjapan well, wow! Without blowing smoke, you sincerely have a real talent at the film making and aesthetic components of these videos. Looking forward to seeing the next instalment!
@@ridesofjapan Ha! I thought so too - that you are a film maker or a camera operator. Well then, I'm curious, what do you do for living and how do you manage to find time for riding and servicing your bikes!? Maybe it's a good idea to make a video about it? Of course it's a private matter, so it's fully understandable if you don't whant to share this kind of info on the channel. Anyway, thanks a lot for your great videos!
Arundel Mandible... indeed the best cage available! Light weight, yes, but their true superpower is holding the bottle securely; never lose another bottle regardless of how bumpy the ride is.
You keep us waiting, but you always deliver amazing videos. Content, editing and personality. And your attention to detail from lightning to clothing makes it artistic. Bravo!
I also use left hand rear brake and right hand front. Back in the days motorcycling almost everyday testing bikes and going to work on bicycle so this arrangement avoided many mishaps.
The 8100 wheel-set you hinting come with valves. The ones you showing are way too long. Bike looks awesome. You are an amazing builder. Your friend is lucky to have your build this awesome looking machine.
How about a computer mount? I might have missed it, but it's supposed to be included for the complete bike weight. Besides that, looking forward to the build, frame looks awesome, your buddy has a great taste!
Beautiful video (As always) , nice looking bike. From the packing and from what I saw I guess the bike comes from the same factory as a Factor or my SEKA bike . Love your content , pls continue with this high level of production. 🫰🏼✌🏼
Newer subscriber and RUclips content creator. Your videos from an editing point of view are outstanding! Great lighting, audio and content. I LOVE your use of motion graphics and appropriate sound effects. *Question* Are you using Premiere for the editing or something else? Please keep producing these amazing videos.
Very nice build. I was expecting the frame to be quite lighter given that is supposed to be a non-aero climbing bike, but looks very nice, so it's marginally ok
After this one, i would really enjoy to see you build up a very light aluminium road bine. Of course, rim break is a must. Scavenging some second hand groupsets probably is needed. Thanks for the content! All the best.
Sooo my guess is Beast RX60 but 60mm is a rather odd choice for the kind of riding you guys are doing Glad to see you further spreading the ways of german carbon 🍻
Hi Tobias, thank you for you videos. They pushes me to build a bike from scratch. You've mentioned this frame wad on your list, could you please share hownyou list of recommended/considered frames looks like? Thank you!
There’s no list… but back then I had a few specific things I wanted. 1. Internal cable routing (that still allowed be to use my own stem). 2. Reasonable weigh (~800g) 3. No dropped seatstays. 4. Standard seatpost. 5. Nice color. The Aurum ticked all the boxes except no5 back then before the white was released, and they where not shipping here it internationally at that time. So trek emonda was the other option only missing the standard seatpost, but that was a compromise I was willing to make.
RoJ is ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How are the LB rims holding? Got mine since September but since they are on the Gravel\Training bike and its been sunny here in Europe I havent done much km on them... They look prime though with the shiny gloss paintjob!
@@ridesofjapan I've also asked in the other video. Did you notice any difference between the Ultegra and Dura Ace? Gear shift quality, performance? Build quality?
Do you think/expect a water and a crap from the road entering the frame though the top cap at 4:26 ? I'm sure t won't drastic, but I wonder if this could be improved somehow. BTW great video, as always!
Since both me and Darragh are fair weather riders it doesn’t worry me. Only thing it would change for me is to be more careful when washing the bike. Cheers!
I share a riding territory with Alberto C, so I see these all the time and they do look really nice, despite (or maybe because of) no aero gubbins etc...he himself is riding a black one with golden lettering at the moment...a little bit too oligarch style for my taste but definitely a looker...
Great video. BTW, can you tell me what kind of microphone set up you are using there clipped on to your collar which I saw you with in the Token Ninja BB install video?
Curious. What camera and lens do you use? The cinematography is so smooth. I'm more of a photographer (canon 5dmkiii), but want to get into video making like this too!
I’m on a Sony system with 20, 35 and 80mm lenses. But as you probably heard before… what camera you have have doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things. A 5d will do the job just fine! 👍
In case you missed it, part 2 here: ruclips.net/video/03P6vkiVDB8/видео.html

Happy you like it!
It’s just a fun side hobby for me.

Diggin the build. Can't wait to see what wheels!
ruclips.net/video/03P6vkiVDB8/видео.htmlsi=EW5eGDA2eHXMUaOJ 👍
I'm waiting for the "friend's bike cleaning" videos. And for the "following a friend while descending" videos.
Excellent news, a bike build video by Rides of Japan is always a must watch.👏👏
First prologue I've ever been truly excited about lol. Cannot wait for Stage 1 🙂
You keep us waiting, but you always deliver amazing videos. Content, editing and personality. And your attention to detail from lightning to clothing makes it artistic. Bravo!
The frame is great awesome. Love the color very much. If our wheels FARSPORTS could be with it, it will be a great honor. Great videos.

Delicious!
Can't wait for the actual build!
As always the productions values of a channel with 50 times the subscribers. Love the video as always.
Nice frame - gotta love that paintjob!
Love the SAFA Brian t-shirt! You should get him to Japan on one of your descents
Love your new weight scale! Measures a frame with 0.1 g precision, how satisfying for you👍🏻
Beautiful bike and video! That head tube with the semi-integrated looks clean without the complexity of a proprietary integrated cockpit
That intro is just crazy good.
Definitely dig the seatstays: not dropped like everybody else nowadays. I think it looks and would handle much better
Really enjoyed this ! You have a very good natural and “all your own” presenting style . Remember your rim brake followers :)
Always a great day when a new RoJ bike build video arrives
Always buzzing for a rides of Japan video!
Outstanding en eerie intro as always, love it!
Exceptional build and video. You have mad skills
Yay - another edition of Rides of Japan, with a build that might even be considered affordable for many 😎
huh, the frameset alone is over 4000 EUR???
@@lechprotean oh, didn't know that 🫤
Those Beast RX60s will look epic on this build. I have a set and very beautiful
Cracking vid as always. So well shot and narrated. Got myself a build coming up (just waiting on shifters to arrive) and this has got me so excited.
Thanks for this. I thoroughly enjoy your videos. Always fun and make me laugh out loud. Keep it up!
“You might not agree but I don’t care” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Great intro. Like a movie. never heard of the frame brand.... the price is right up there and out of my league!
Spanish cyclist Alberto Contador created Aurum, together with Ivan Basso.
Stunning but I just looked at the frameset price and oh my that's eye watering. 🙈🙈
It’s always a good day when you upload. Great video. Looking forward to seeing further instalments.
beautiful frame, can't wait to see the build
'bout bloody time! Where the hell you've been?
Riding 🚴♂️

Thank you again for another interesting, and extremely well put together video. Love the cap!
awesome opening, looking forward to the build.
some lovely bits of production in this video, well done.
read The Rifleman's Creed and replace rifle with bicycle. it just works
Beautiful intro!!
Magnificent
Always fun
How about a computer mount? I might have missed it, but it's supposed to be included for the complete bike weight.

Not sorted yet… I guess I should have included a stem mount as a place holder but that slipped through the cracks.
Whew. I was starting to worry about you.
amazing work!
Thanks!
Thank you sir, you’re too kind!

3:37 That box may look pretty but I'd prefer more protection, especially for an international shipment
Great video footage/shots and aesthetics as always.
Unfortunately as many such cases, I am not surprised that the weight is so heavy.
The best!

Beautiful Aurum Magma! We just bought the very same colour for my wife☺️ she is super happy🎉 Bike rides awesome
oh hot diggity dawg
Exciting
Me: not full dura ace? Is this bike for someone else.
You: this bike is for someone else
😂
I rock Ultegra on my Echo thank you very much 😉
@@ridesofjapan I've also asked in the other video. Did you notice any difference between the Ultegra and Dura Ace? Gear shift quality, performance? Build quality?
Only difference is weight
@@ridesofjapan Cheers. Sounds like Ultegra derailleurs + Dura Ace shifters is the way to go then 🙂
nice colour
I first read it 'it's bike tinder time' I was like wth? it was 'tinker', phew, lol
You forgot to take into account the weight of the compressed air trapped inside those tyres :D
I suppose you are missing centerlock nuts for rotors and bottle cage bolts 🤔
Correct on the lock rings, cage bolts are included in the frame weight.
@@ridesofjapan What about bottles? Empty, of course! 😂

sounds great! wheels are prob dura ace 12sp ones, they are around that weight i think
Mavic Cosmic SLR 45 are bang on 1440g. Maybe they're hard to get in Japan?

I’m not using that anymore, but here a video on it ruclips.net/video/mSB0OJ6uvQM/видео.html
Haven’t even watched the video yet, but how do I get that shirt??
in the show description dude First thing I looked fpr
Shirt is from the lord of speed ruclips.net/user/SAFABrian
Isn't that the 'PINK" Apple computers call: Rose Gold?
Would probably fall in that category I reckon
I hope that frame company paid you for that opening scene.
Nice vid. How are those Powerlink Zeros treating you?
Yup, that'll do as a pub bike!
another stunning intro! Why aren't you working in movies?
mate... what a great video!!! one question: where did you bought the t-shirt?
it's Safa brian merch
Nice video! Heavy bike!

Not the camera, more the settings which are not default. At least 4k at 60fps I suspect.
How do you feel about water being able to enter the headtube?
Personally not worried, I would take easy around that area when washing the bike though
Interesting that the frame is ~90g heavier than the Emonda SL.
it's the Way of the weight vs the Way of the wallet :)
you're alive?!!!!
Alive and pedaling
You do realize there's another bike movie called "The fire in the frame" right?
how is the token ninja so heavy? 130g is a lot for a BB
I was expecting around 100-110g like the old one I had… but those 24mm adapters are really hefty, was surprised myself.
My ocd is crash when ultegra meet dura ace, i can't sleep tonight
Best way to mount a computer on the beast stem?
A bit like the Argon 18 head tube design
You say brakes backwards, that means left hand front, right hand back right 😁
Bike Ahead wheels?
Now then. What are the winters like in the land of the rising sun?
My friend sets his brakes backwards. Just in case it gets stolen he hopes they will wreck on it.
Damnit dude that's actually pretty smart.
can you buy a complete DA R9100 in japan easily? will be in japan in 23 (maybe do rapha ride also) for gardening.
9100... might be harder to find that... 9200 should be easier to find now
Are the wheels the same as Contador rides? Those lighweight are gorgeous but the price…
No no, nothing crazy like that… although the lightweight disc wheels are probably around that 1440g weight. 😅
👍
What about wheels and sealant?
