  • Bo is making plans to build benches, a fire pit, and more. Karen is continuing to carefully tend to the garden plants that have been absolutely deluged with water this rainy spring. We hope to keep making the château garden gorgeous.

    Queen's Escape was inspired by the 4 years the Belgian royal family stayed at Château de La Tuilerie during WWII. In particular, it is for the Queen. The king took shelter at a different location in France. We've named each of our guest rooms after great Queens of the past and present from around the world. Margrethe, Eleanor, Catherine, Himiko, Cleopatra, and soon our bridal suite will be ready in honor of Queen Elizabeth II.
    With it's sprawling green meadows, 100-year-old trees, and historic location in the small medieval town of Gluges, the 200-year-old château is truly an escape. With 5 guest rooms to rent and a stunning Orangery, we look forward to welcoming you for a visit or to host your wedding or event.

    Apply your neem oil as the sun is going down so you don’t kill the friendly bugs such as bees. It can be taken back to the hive on their feet. The neem will soak in overnight. Good luck with your fruit trees!

    All that extra rain couldn't have been good for the fruit trees. It's easy to get excited about fruit, but they need a few more years.
    You might want to get some netting to keep the birds off the cherries and blueberry bushes.

We pulling our one out as not cold enough . Figs can give fruit early but 3 years is there time to start too . Such an enjoyable and peaceful vlog! Thanks for that. I use neem oil to keep white fly away from my flowers. I need to find something for one of my small avocado trees, it has yellow spots on the leaves. So you are encouraging me to get going on that. Thanks again!

    Lupin flowers need neem oil as well for afids.
    Our pear 🍐 trees took 5 years to produce fruit. Peaches are 2-3 years for fruit. 🍎 usually 2 years.

    Covering your cherry trees with white netting like misquote netting. Lay loosely and tip tie down not to tight. Will help you vet cherries not birds.

    🍎Bo and Karen,
    Fabulous so hot day in our part of the world!
    Bo! Bo! Bo! No! No! No! As you said you're having your neighbor mowing and then at the same time taking the hay that would cost him if he should continue getting your hay, and don't have to buy it, he's then saving just to put a number on it, between $3,000 and $5,000 or more a year if you should do the math. So it's not an even exchange for him to mow your lawn and then get to keep all the hay that you can sell to a feed barn and use that money for all the mantainence as you learn to produce more hay for your own personal gain. You will be smiling all the way to the bank because you'll be doing it year after year. You guys don't only have a chateau but have acres and acres of land to make a huge profit on hay to sell either privately or to feed barns. I think it would be wise to watch him intensely how he does it so you can learn. Then when you decide it's a great idea, buy a brand new machine to make the hay. You'll probably have enough money to make payments on the machine and in three to four years, the machine will be paid off and then you will be really smiling because all the profit will be all yours and the hay machine you will have for years, especially since it's brand new. Or just buy a second hand one, that will be half the price. You said it would save you time if he mows, but if you get a bigger lawn mower to mow the acres, then talk to the feed barn managers. You can even send them an email to tell them they can harvest the hay, but at the same time they will probably pay you for example $40 for one ton of hay because they will turn around and sell it for $100 or more. That's what they're selling for at the feed barns. If you do the math, one dozen bales will be $480. So it's a win win situation not to mention you don't realize you're sitting on a gold mine because you can sell the hay. Farmer's make thousands of dollars every year just by making hay to sell. You also have to do the math, if you get a gardener to come mow the grass if you don't have the time. Just let them mow the area that you can see from the chateau. It could be thousands of dollars cheaper because if your neighbor had to go buy one dozen bales of hay, that's what it would cost him, over $500 and getting a gardener would probably only be $250 to only mow the area that you can see from the chateau. Or do it yourself when you have time, even if it's in the wee hours of the morning and save that $250 towards the equipment you need to make the hay. I know all about buying hay as we had three horses and it was quite expensive. The more hay you give them, the more they want. So consumers that have animals won't stinge on buying hay for their animals. So you're sitting a gold mine and you don't even know it. I can see you smiling all the way to the bank once you figure out and do the math that you have the sun, the moon and the stars at the end of the tunnel and you guys are the one's who are going to reap the benefit as another business for the chateau. You showed on the video he collected all those bales of hay in less than two hours. If he had to buy it, it would cost him over $500.
    Cheers to a great new business for the chateau! 🌴

      @queensescape  23 дня назад +1

      I don’t see us becoming gay farmers anytime soon, and we definitely won’t be buying the 4-5 different machines and tools they use to plant, spray and harvest. But we do know we could adjust the contract to charge them. We’ve been content to leave it as the precious owners had it for now. Horse people know the value of a hay bail. 😊😊 Thank you.
