Was gonna upload an older video while I get a soldering iron to fix the wires on my light but this is a new release so I wanted to rush it out there ASAP. Anyways, hope you all still enjoy. -FALLING 😁
This watch is as close to perfect of a daily wearer as can be without breaking the bank. Thank you very much for that thorough overview. Keep up the great work!
I think the problem with the comparison is the value proposition. The SARB033 was available for the longest time for around $350, of not less. This watch fills the same role and does so very well... But at over double that price. Yes, I know Seiko has been moving upmarket, and this my replace it within an individual collection, but unfortunately it can't fill the same niche in the market because it's just so much more expensive.
@@EscapementWatch absolutely it was definitely underpriced. And the going rates on eBay aren't that terrible ($650 USD BNIB) I don't think these are unfairly priced either, but they're definitely not "hands down best watch in this price range anymore" (though, admittedly I personally choose Seiko over anything under $1000 USD)
I grabbed the white dial and I honestly love the look & build as well as size and comfort so much that I may by the Black PVD/ Brown dial, I mean it’s an absolute stunner when it’s on your wrist. I’ve own a couple of cocktails but this thing is so versatile and just take it up so many notches. Sweet value ! Great video ! Thanks for the work !
I'll never sell my SARB. Got it super cheap and it's already a classic. It's a piece of Seiko history. A time when Seiko was the true king of affordable watches.
Hello I have bought a Seiko SARX083 it should be arriving in the next few days, I did like the look of the SARX035 and SARB033. But it looked like I would have to pay the same for a second hand one of those, as I would for a new SARX083. The new ones of those models where probably double the price I paid, do you think I made the right choice or should I have looked around a bit more?
Just had to get this. The black dial despite being subdued is stunning. My alternate for my sarb033. They are really different watches so can't really compare, love them both.
This reminds me of the SARX more than the SARB. Great looking dial! I have the Seiko SARB033 myself. I was able to pick one up before it was discontinued.
I had a SARB033, SARB035 and SARB017. I ditched the SARB017 in favour of the SPB197 blue Alpinist. The green was unwearable, the strap on the SARB017 went into the garbage bin as soon as I took delivery of it, and the sapphire had no AR. The blue one does all of that better, it's just sad they went for a thicker caseback. So if anyone has a SARB017 caseback lying around, I'm game. Then the 033/035. You particularly saw it on the 035: The crystal really sucked on that one. It was non coated cheap sapphire which made the dial look lifeless. I modified mine with an AR coated aftermarket crystal and it brought the thing to life. So the SARB033 really was the only one that shone in its unmodified glory, even though the crystal was like a mirror. I greatly enjoyed owning my SARBs, but I don't miss 'm and they don't have "that magic" to it. At 39x11mm the Sharp Edges seem poised to replace them outright. The only reason I never went for SARX is the 40,5 - 40.8mm case sizes.
This is a Beautiful watch but what made the Sarb so special was the small size and lug to lug. It made the watch wear amazingly. The Sarb was very curvy and not at all angular. The only thing this watch has in common with the Sarb is a black dial and the position of the date. Seiko refuses to make another 38mm watch for some reason and that’s why people want the Sarb.
@@EscapementWatch I love that new Alpinist! Something else that I would say is even closer is the Sary 149. It’s got a 38mm case and 44mm lug to lug with sapphire and is a pretty close case shape. About $450. Check it out, I would love to see a review of it because there are very few out there.
Notice dealer stocks are running out. Is it a sign seiko will replace it soon with a newer model? Should i wait for the new model if it drops or buy this?

Such a beautiful piece, I personally love the green and blue dial variant. I don't think this would scratch the itch for the 033 personally. The 033 and 035 just hit different. They're so unique, it's hard to put it in words lol. Great review bud 🍻 and the new sharp series is awesome in it's own way.
Hi Falling, I was watching the White dial version, you need to get that light fix. It made a big difference. Your still awesome, I was trying to catch the watch on your left wrist. Hehe I did not catch it.
Really not much in common with the SARB other than that it has lume on the hands and markers which most Seiko Presage models don't. Compared to what the SARB was in production, this is nearly 3X the cost. I would argue that the true SARB successors are the SZSB "Spirit" models like the SZSB015. Those are under $500, and while they are bigger than the SARB was, I think that's Seiko recognizing a general preference for 39mm+ watches. The SARB never would've been considered a Presage series watch, it's MUCH lower quality than these Sharp Edge models. The SZSBs use the 4R, but that's what you get from Seiko unless you're spending $700+ now. The days of getting a $400 watch with a 6R15 in it are long over.
I just picked up a fairly similar model to this. Full titanium, sapphire, 100m water resistance, 6N52 quartz movement and 40mm case. All for under $300 USD from Island Watch. SUR375 is the model number.
Fantastic review - I like how understated the black one is (love you describing tricking your wife haha). I know this is subjective: I have the opportunity to get one -30% from MSRP (Down from £880 to £616) Do you think it's a good deal at that price? (I don't really know how much to pay for a 6R35 let alone a "Presage")
