- Für das neue Rammstein Album, erinnert sich Christoph Schneider an den Anfang seiner Schlagzeugkarriere im wiedervereinigten Deutschland. Nach dem Fall der Berliner Mauer, sah Christoph Schneider sich ein DW Kit, auf Empfehlung von Richard Z Kruspe, der später Leadgitarrist von Rammstein wurde. Dieses Kit wurde Christoph's treuester Begleiter in den 1990er Jahren und steht noch heute in Richard's Studio in Berlin... 2018 trafen Christoph Schneider und DW Drums erneut aufeinander und schlossen sich für eine der größten Stadiontouren der Welt zusammen.

After the fall of the Berlin Wall, Christoph Schneider had seen a DW kit - on the recommendation of Richard Z Kruspe, who later became Rammstein‘s lead guitarist. I have heard many drummers tell me that what he plays isn't so complex, but as a drummer, you don't need to be complex to sound good. Rammstein has some of the best metal riffs that can't be mimicked. without guitar solos, without drum solos, and without having to play speed metal, they yet manage to attract world wide attention and respect, so that says a lot. Christoph isn't shy to try new things even if they don't sound metal, and they mesh it together to make great songs. So I give him tremendous respect for how he plays
to be honest how many known musicians play complex stuff ? Aside from Tool not much.

Rammstein is a rock music with industrial, metal and electronic music elements.
Which means the drumming must be pretty straight and nearly machine/computer accurate.
And Schneider is a true master of this drumming style.
@@mrn234 Yngwie, Petrucci (Dream Theater obviously), Tosin Abasi (Animals As Leaders)... I mean, there's this whole sub-genre of Metal alone that uses complex time-signatures and so on, so there are plenty that are well-known as well. - Just saying...

Whenever I see this guy in live videos he always seem very smiley and happy to be there. I love his vibe.
Schneider is such a great guy both on the drums and off the drums. He never gets boring, always does what fits the music and is really heavy! Very underrated like Ollie, Till and Flake.
I don't think Oli is underrated. He very rarely delivers something awesome

Dudes definitely got groove, showmanship, keeps almost perfect time always. That puts him in the top tier of drummers in my opinion.

He's a kind and humble soul, you can tell it by looking at his behaviour and manner of speaking!
The coolest and *_pulsiest_* drummer of all!
Never shows off but is always on point. The real *_musician_* - he compliments the music, never trying to steel the spotlight by puffing out his personal abilities. Which by the way are amazing - when Christoph is given such an opportunity (pretty much the whole LIFAD era of Rammstein) he simply dominates.
Much love from Russia! Christoph and the guys from Rammstein hold a very special place in hearts of my people. Spiritually Rammstein are still very Eastern German. And we can feel their spirit which is very close to Russian hearts! Times definitely changed. But, whatever mockery the use of these terms may entail today, I guess we still see them as our comrades, friends and allies. These guys are like compatriots to us.
Stay strong Rammstein! We love you and miss the short-lasted time we shared as true friends and like-minded people.
Hopefully everything (our governments, times) will change and we get closer once again in future.

Perhaps he is not a drummer like Dave Lombardo or Neil Peart or someone like them, but what makes Schneider one of the best drummers in the world is his simplicity. That feature makes him different from others and makes him better than drummers who plays solos in any metal concerts.
He once said in an interview that he doesn't want that either.
Semplicity and tightness. I would like to hear some guys playing with a click like he does, tight but groovy at the same time. Every stroke he plays have a purpose on song arrangements. Some drummer just play fills and tricks just for the sake of it.
He is a living legend.

we don't get rammstein interviews very often, but when somebody of them is giving one, they talk about the thing that i want to hear: something about their music

@@AuslanderAish Olli is the bassist, not guitarist. And he said that "it's with our guitarist now, he still thinks it's the best thing ever". So he's refering to Richard saying it was the best drum kit, which he said like 3 minutes earlier in the interview :)

Muss er auch da er mit Sicherheit den " klick" auf m "in Ear" hat. Da Flake sehr viel mit vorprogrammierten Sequenzen arbeitet. Deswegen wären Timing Schwankungen ne Katastrophe

Its impossible to get bored with Rammstein, I have being listening to them for past 20 years and only Classical music can be compared, another music I don't get bored of 😁

Christoph is a really really good drummer.
Nice style of playing the drums and a damn heavy punch combined with subtle elements to make their songs interesting to hear. It's musically absolutely fine and wellrounded.
I know and partially have seen some of these freaky oddtime-metrechanging, polyrhythmic, ostinato and speedy drummers with incredible abilities, but since I began to deal again with Rammstein after decades I must admit, that Christoph is very talented and simply not replaceable, even as a human and founding member.
The only thing what irritated me in a way from the drumsound-perspective is, that the Sonors were equal sonically to the DW's. But just my l'opinion petite. :)

Schneider es un baterista impresionante, tiene un don especial, además es un artista sencillo, encantador, amable y muy simpático...todo un tipazo y es la razón por la que adoro a la banda, un sonido fuerte, con los matices correctos, directo y a la cabeza..woooow!!

Muchos lo consideran simple por que sus rifs de bateria no son “complejos" pero, si fuera más pesado rammstein no sonaría igual, sonaría mal, el lleva el ritmo y así es perfecto, es un baterista genial, inspira mucho

So geerdet... Unfassbar sympathisch! Toll, wenn man mit diesem Status den Herstellern sooo dankbar ist und solch eine Wertschätzung kommuniziert! DW war auch mein Traum, nachdem ich das erste Mal eines spielte, der wurde mir vor 15 vergönnt und ich bin bis heute überglücklich!

It's always so damn cool to see both live performances and get production facts from the drummer's view. I feel as if drummers are always looked over a lot, so for so many companies to do this kind of behind-the-scenes stuff and give us a look at music through the eyes of the drummer is really neat. Schneider is fantastic, and DW produces quality products, too. Looking forward to more of these videos coming out.

I think it's unfair to say that the musicians of rammstein are worse than others just because they play some easier stuff. It's always this which is harder to play and faster which decides the more skilled musicians but rammstein compared to other bands make almost no mistakes in live performances and they also have some very difficult drum fills for example in Benzin. Also while others may have that difficult to play music it doesn't make it good and the riffs of rammstein may be more basic but they always hit it right and everything fits perfect into their songs
It's like saying The Ramones weren't great. Rammstein are all Ramones fans, btw.
Du Riechst So Gut is just ridiclously simple, but no other song gets the crowd jumping more, even to this day. Most musicians arrogant enough to dismiss Rammstein as simple have absolutly no idea how much sound design and skill goes into each song.
Rammstein have something different, which is talent. You can practice for 10 years and become a great drummer/guitarist. You can't learn talent, specially for songwriting. That's where their strenght lies. I bet pretty much no other band would make it as big as they have singing in German. At least without turning commercial. The Mutter album, to me, is still the only album I've ever listened to that keeps its level from track 1 to 11.
@@andreadg5429 uh Rammstein is commercial otherwise they wouldnt be that big. Even in Germany since the Lifad Album they are not anymore that No Go Band that alot of people like but only in secret. Times have changed ;)
@@mrn234 they were already quite big in europe on the Reise Reise era. But I do agree, LIFAD is my least favorite album because of exactly that. I was at the debut of the tour and it was kinda weird, even though I liked the show

Dazu braucht man kein DW Drumset. Die Trigger passen an jedes Fabrikat. Die Klangqualität der erklingenden Samples ist unabhängig davon, an welchem Fabrikat die Trigger anmontiert sind.

Toller O-Ton, tolle Aufnahmen, gutes Color-Grading. Nun weiß auch ich als nicht-Drummer, dass Schneider DW mag und DW wohl sehr hochwertig produziert :-)
Eine kleine Anmerkung habe ich dennoch: Die Musikspur unterm O-Ton noch einen Dezibel runterfahren, dann irritiert die nicht :-) (dafür werden mich einen Fans wahrscheinlich verfluchen).
