- Rammstein drummer Christoph Schneider is using REMO drumheads exclusively for years. We had the chance to get a closer look at the setup of heads he was using on the latest stadium tour. His drum tech "Rossi Roßberg" and sound engineer "Olsen Involtini" talked about their job on the RAMMSTEIN live sound, too.

This tour was absolutely amazing. I saw them twice for the LIFAD tour including M.S.G. and at Jones Beach right before the white album but the Made In Germany Tour was the best. The live sound was fantastic and the whole show was just awesome. Can't wait for this summer 🙌

I've tried all sorts of heads on drums over the years, but I always go back to pinstripes, people say they choke the natural sound of the shells etc, but i've never found that. stick em on DWs and they really come to life..Rammstein always have a great drum sound

Did he say “diplomat” on the Tom bottoms!? I guess little less overtones and more shell sound then the usual ambassador setup
I always use the ambassador ad reso heads (10 mil ply). Diplomats are thinner than the Ambassadors, (7.5 mil ply). I think that there will be more overtones the thinner the heads are, not sure but definitely going to try that out. If you use pinstripes as batterheads, you can use some extra overtones imo, because the sound is pretty focused and short. maybe that is the reason why they choose the diplomats. Cool concept to try out for sure!
I bought the diplomats for reso heads and they have an awesome tone. Even when you are using 2-ply batterheads, the toms are sensitive and resonant as if you were using ambassador batter heads. I really recommend it if you are into open-sounding toms.

Triggers are not used for sound.

Sadly their Live Mixer hasn't done a great job on the last Album ... the Mixer of Tills "Ich hasse Kinder" should do the next one :-)
Both are mixed by Sky van Hoff. Olsen Involtini mixed both latest R+ album (with Sky) and their live show.
@@qnebra Yes - and since the first two new Songs are published now - again to me Olsen Involtini did not a great Job - the massive Schneider Drums are gone, Guitars get lost in the Mix … Live Mixing is not Mixing an Album… he didn’t capture the famous Rammstein Sound … but maybe they don’t want it anymore ;) who knows … to me it stopped when they quit working with Jacob Hellner …
Sky van Hoff did a great Job on „Ich hasse Kinder“ and I hear a lot people saying „when Till sounded more Rammstein than Rammstein sound like Rammstein“ I‘m glad I‘m not crazy 😂
Well 90% of the sound is triggered so the heads aren't really that big a deal live. In the studio is another matter :)
Maybe you should watch this video again!
If you're refering to the trigger's on most of the shells, thats to trigger noise gates in the desk for easier management.
@@GKLiveProductions yeah nice try, but in the final few hits of that line check at the end of the video, you hear the same snares and gong drum he’d JUST played with the samples added in. They clearly use triggered samples samples live. I get it, as it suits their sound, but you don’t need to lie about it.
Cool, but every drum (minus the 2 concerts) is triggered sooo what’s the point of this video.

Everything is triggered. The heads are irrelevant.

Hallo Herr Neutron, kommen sie aus Hessen? Schauen sie sich das Video noch mal an. Die Trigger dienen zum schliessen und öffnen der Gates und FX´s. Es tut uns wirklich leid, aber das ist nun mal so. Am Ende können sie sich auch gerne mit ihrem anonymen Account selbst bei Rossi melden und ihn nochmals dazu befragen.
