The Yanmar 1700 is a great unit; and I see you know where to go for parts. Everything is fairly cheap for them. Take good care of it and you will retire before it does!
Ya ! You're supposed to take a run at it, drop down and hand spring up and over and into the seat. That is the proper way to mount. LOL It works for me on my RS-24 I just got at auction a month ago (10/24) .... :) I'll be doing the same thing as you are, going through it and checking it out. My oil was much much cleaner. I think the guy who had it actually did maintenance on it except for replacing burned out instrument bulbs. I have some wiring stuff that needs attention, a switch or two and that is about it that I see. No water pump huh? Hmm. I'm excited about it. I have a Ford 600 that is wearing our and much harder to navigate around as compared to the 4 wheel drive/power stearing of the RS-24 and just slightly less horsepower. I think it will work just fine. I'll be keeping up with you and see what you learn. Thanks.
Early 80's. these are nice tractors. Very similar and same engines as the John Deere 650, 750, and 850's. $1500 running is a great price in 2023 as long as it doesn't need tires ($1000), engine overhaul or clutch ($2000). Easy to work on. They have a dry clutch that is prone to sticking if the tractor sits too long.
These tractors without the water pump like a mostly distilled water mix of coolant. 30% antifreeze max if I remember correctly. I think Most people run 25% antifreeze in these. Just remember to change it to 50/50 before winter comes.
Thanks for sharing. I can now change out my new to me ym2200.

It could use tires for sure, but they hold air! I'm loving it so far!

I'm learning that, haha.
Hello. Could you tell me the dimensions and weight of that tractor? Thank you
Hi! It's about 1900 pounds. 17hp. 56" wheelbase.
Will it run 5ft brush hog?
4 foot brush hog works great but I actually run a 6' finish mower with it!
