Yes their are some basic rules you have to follow but when it comes to learning to play music, do it the way you memorize best. I wanted to play the drums but there was already too many drummers so the tuba is what I got. One thing I learned is if you can play an instrument (any instrument) you can play the drums. The drums are by far the easiest, and most fun, instrument to play.
Learning the note names can certainly help you later on as it basically allows you to know how to finger any note without looking it up among other things
I wouldn't say drums are the easiest, it's alot more than hitting a thing with a stick. some percussion instruments are quite comical though like the triangle and finger symbols but as a percussionist you will play many instruments from mallets to snare drums

I am blind, and I never really got a chance to actually touch the tube or really check out how it works, can you try to explain it to me in more detail, and possibly show me the lowest note on the tuba and how you get that note?
I suggest not tightening your corners too much it makes it so the low notes don’t come out you kinda just have to mess with your embouchure and see what works best it’s kinda of just a trial and error thing
