I'm so fascinated with how openings like this were developed. I often wonder if they worked backwards to solve problems that arise later in the opening, for instance maybe they realize e4 is a tender square. Then they go back and add in Bb7 to exert control specifically over e4, thus sparking an entirely new opening system. Chess is so cool.
