    @4:50 you say "this is already a Stockfish eval of 3.9". No, stockfish eval is only +1.6 (according to a depth of 21 on my phone). Whilst +1.6 is a nice advantage to have, it's very different to +3.9 which would be completely and obviously winning.

    Derek Grimmell's videos on Q v R are the most complete and thorough, anywhere. He's gotta make a chessable course on it, as some of us have suggested he do.

    Great recommendations Master Matt! I particularly like the Move by Move books because as you mentioned the authors discuss the entire game including middlegame plans that are needed to take the reader beyond the opening.

  • @stevemansfield8530

    At 5:08, after ...Re7, we have in essence the structure of a third-rank defence but we are currently1 file nearer to the centre than with the standard third-rank setup. If this were a third-renk defence proper (with the BK already on the h-file at h5 and the BR on the f-file at f7), the right move for the WQ (who would be on g3, not f3) would be to move from g3 to d3, which creates various lines but all winning for White; see Derek Grimmell's analysis of the third-rank defence for how to win. So in the current position, the equivalent would be for White to play Q to c3. It may be that this is another way for White to set Black problems after ...Re7 as played in the video here.

    love this line for black , but this works only if white plays nf3 too early so if white instead plays bd3 you cant go for that line and alao its worth to mention that you have to play nc6 otherwise if you play bf5 , qxf5 if you take b2 its qc8 mate , so it is better to tell people that see this why black play nc6

  • @shayanabbasi8897
    @shayanabbasi8897 Месяц назад

    i'm not a gm so give these words as an average player who just plays for fun and not play competitive chess

  • @shayanabbasi8897
    @shayanabbasi8897 Месяц назад

    and also on other things to mention is bishop can take bishop after queen moves because black lose tempo , but idk the line maybe black could get e5 on that line , i never study that

  • @shayanabbasi8897
    @shayanabbasi8897 Месяц назад

    so this alone is not that good for black if white know nc3 line and also the hooe idea is gone by just c3 instead of e3

  • @shayanabbasi8897
    @shayanabbasi8897 Месяц назад

    nc3 instead of that passive nd2 if queen takes nb5 , if he defend with na6 then rb1 then if qxa2 ra1 so quuen need to move to b2 sooo then rxa6 , xa6 now we can play nxc7 and grab the rook

    Yes Ding is playing quite badly, but in my opinion, it's obviously a big problem with stamina, and also self-belief. His rapid and blitz in the teams event in Astana was quite good (8.5/12?) so when just playing on instinct he seems his usual self, but he can't seem to cope with the grind of a many-hour classical game. In the Sinquefield Cup he got many good positions out of the opening but bailed out to a draw. I don't think he believes he can be better. He evaluated a +1 position for him vs Nodirbek as 'maybe worse'. Vs Fabi as well he was borderline winning and liquidated to an instant draw. Vs Gukesh he repeated when he had a chance to play for a win. This lack of confidence is self-validating. If he got some wins under his belt he'd gain confidence, but his mindset is hindering that. His losses have come from blundering a few hours into the game. He mentioned somewhere about having problems of fatigue for the last 18 months or so. All this being said, I can see positives in Ding's play recently. But it hasn't translated to results. He will need to fix this problem of fatigue and self belief. I hope he has some kind of doctors/psychologists to help with this, as well as his 'chess' team. People are calling the match as if it's decided already. I hope he proves them wrong in November.

      I also think you are overly dismissive of his World Championship win. Many of the games were very high quality, especially games 4 and 6, as well as the rapid tiebreaks.

    Like or Dislike: Like. Before I got into chess, I was a distance runner. The comparisons between the two training regimens are illuminating. One area of chess I understand needs improvement in my training, thanks to this episode, is tactics. You stress studying tactics, as opposed to solving them. What is the best way to properly learn tactics as opposed to trying to solve one puzzle after another without actually improving?

    • @ChessGoals
      @ChessGoals 2 месяца назад

      I was using studying and solving tactics to mean the same thing. Try to solve the whole problem without making any moves first.
