    Sorry for the crappy audio. I didn't realize that the levels were that far off till after it was uploaded. I'll do better in the future! I promise!!!

    Keep it up buddy !! I love making coasters for my customers. I make acrylic displays with my cnc and batch out coasters as a free sample and I end up getting orders out of it.😊

    Looks good! You had me worried when you foreshadowed the problem as the CA glue "trick".hadn't failed me yet. The order of the cuts definitely helped that.
    Just a note - when you switch from talking over the video to talking directly to us, there's quite a difference in volume levels. It was quite pronounced on my TV.
    Other than that, I loved this and will consider taking these on with offcuts myself. The personalizing of things is what really makes people go wild!!!

    • @SothpawDesigns
      @SothpawDesigns  2 года назад +1

      Yeah, I realized that after I'd posted it. I considered taking it down and correcting. Probably should have done that. I used a different microphone for the voiceovers, and the levels were off. I'll correct it moving forward.

      Thank you. I'd been just using my iPhone to film, which autofocuses well, but I like to listen to music and podcasts while I work, so I started using my DSLR. Never used my DSLR for video, so I'm still keying in on those settings.

    Great material, man. I recently got a onefinity and I'm STRUGGLING coming up with feeds & speeds for my toolpaths that I'm confident with. What strategy would you recommend? thanks!

    • @SothpawDesigns
      @SothpawDesigns  Год назад

      When I add a new tool to my design software (I typically use VCarve Pro) I use the recommended feeds and speeds provided. I've not found a reliable way to calculate my own feeds and speeds, so I just rely on the software to do the calculations. Regarding the depth and stepover, I typically go about 50% of the size of the bit, so for a 1/4 inch bit, I'll typically go 1/8 inch stepover. Maybe a little more aggressive with softer materials like MDF or plywood.

    I liked your coasters project very much. I also liked your honesty when you included your mistakes during the process. I recommend to try to be consistent in the recording sound of your videos. I personally have difficulty in listening to your description of the process, since it is dramatically lower than your volume when facing the camera. I hope that my comments do not offend you. Sorry if it did.

    • @SothpawDesigns
      @SothpawDesigns  2 года назад

      No offense at all. I appreciate the feedback. I’m getting better with each video. I tried out a new mic for the voiceovers, and didn’t realize that the levels were that far off, and that the music was too loud. I hate that, because other than that, I feel like this is a pretty good video. Should have paid more attention to the audio before uploading. I need to take more time in proofing my work before uploading. I tend to rush that last step.

      @@SothpawDesigns I use the domes and dishes in the vectric clipart and then add text or the free smiley faces they have on the vectric sight and set it up as a 2 sided job to put the dowel holes in the center and use a cpl pennies to set and mantain the gap between the 2 sides . makes some nice looking YoYos espially with walnut mahogany etc. i like the darker color woods

    Not sure how you did your Danish oil beyond the dip. You should keep it wet for about a 1/2 hour then wipe it all down with a dust free cloth. That should remove any thick oil and prevent the stickiness.

    ca glue is a great way to secure your material but i still use brads and cews and dowels for 2 sided jobs. stay away from 2 sided tape

    • @SothpawDesigns
      @SothpawDesigns  2 года назад +1

      I don't like two sided tape. CA glue typically works well. Now that I'm starting to work on more complex jobs, I'm starting to use more screws and other types of hold down clamps.

    Hi there! I've been checking out videos by owners of OneFinity's while deciding if that's what I want to get. That's how I came across your videos! I'm 95% certain I'll go for it! But I did have some input for you regarding the finish you're using. I'd just like to suggest you consider polymerized Tung oil (thinned with orange oil), as a more durable, not to mention waterproof, finish that you can fine-tune to any luster you prefer! Here's a link to a video that can get you started: ruclips.net/video/ePn409TDS0o/видео.html
    Just a suggestion for consideration!
