I don't have a problem with Bungie intending the Forerunners to be an ultra advanced human civilization. My problem, though, is how 343 chose to depict them and do face reveals, which took away the mystery. That and a rewrite of the lore in some novel where the Forerunners being at war with the human race just didn't make sense to me.

There was a tweet from the guy who designed the asset (terrible with names) that said he mirrored it to save time/memory and he wanted people to speculate on it. He also said that somebody could view it as being user friendly to both left and right handed people. And in the end of Halo 3 that solution was finally presented to them, trap them in the Arch. The Arch sits light-years away from any viable food source for the flood and is occupied by machines designed to fight back flood infections, so in the end they succeeded.
Halo infinite was ok but sadly the story is unfinished and the map could have had more biomes . They could have fixed these issues then it would be a great game .

You notice so many cool stuff about Halo 2. I know it’s your favorite game but it would be cool if you covered the other games because you pick up on so many cool details.
I see it as: humans came from Forerunners, hence the name. Those who precede the coming or development of something else. That being humanity. So DNA wise, they are human, but probably looked differently. I picture them as they look in 343's timeline.
The guy who animated the Halo 2 storyboards also made a video talking about how humans were definitively humans he was saying that the Ark (originally located on earth) would’ve altered an already existing species and evolved them into Forerunners. Because of that they wouldn’t look exactly like the original species and that 343’s Forerunner design would actually fit that really well. There was also a H3 terminal that talked about how if the Forerunners failed to survive the Flood they’d ensure that a new civilization would arise. There were also hints about how the Ark was located in East Africa where modern humans originated, human architecture was starting to look suspiciously like Forerunner architecture, and various other things like that. I wish that Bungie would’ve taken the comparisons even further by giving the UNSC various robots that vaguely resemble different Sentinels in terms of their overall appearance and function. That would’ve been another great method of foreshadowing.

From what I gathered, the ForeRunners never intended to be brought back to life after the rings fired and excluded themselves from reseeding the galaxies with life and intended on Humanity to become the keepers of the mantle which is why humans are referred to as the Reclaimers. Reclaimer literally means you take back what's yours, not that you make yours what was previously of others. This is interesting, but calling it proof is too far-fetched. It's evidence to speculate over, at most. Personally, I preferred Halo when it was full of mystery and intrigue. Making everything revolve around humans is as clichéd as it is predictable and boring. But ambiguity? That leaves us guessing, and that's good. Were the Forerunners a previous iteration of humanity? Advanced proto-humans? Or another race entirely? Did we kill the Precursors? Or are we picking up the reins from those who did? Leaving us with questions rather than answers: *that's* what good writing is.
Read Contact Harvest by Joseph Staten and listen to 343 Guilty Spark’s Dialogue in the games both spell it out definitively plus “Your forefathers wisely set aside their compassion, steeled themselves for what needed to be done, I see now why they left you behind, you were weak and Gods must be strong”, “Child of my enemy why have you come, I offer no forgiveness, a father’s sins pass to his son”(in the Orginal Halo 2 cut ending humans were revealed to be genetically modified to be Forerunner) and “to Earth, to finish what we started and this time none of you will be left behind”
Relying on ambiguity and making your audience write it for you is not good writing. By the end of Halo CE, there was little ambiguity anyways: Spark referring to Humans and Forerunner as directly related wasn't really that subtle.

Eh... All three can be argued/disproven really. First, the "human" head just looks like any humanoid head. It's not far-fetched to think that there are yet to be (re)discovered species that have similiar humanoid traits. Heck, you could argue they look like 343's rendition of the forerunners. Second, the hand. if we have to follow your claim, forerunner humans had 6 digits on one hand with 4 in the center and... 2 pinkies? You can't just simply declare any hand-looking figure as human. As for the third. We know why the flood were put on ice. Even before 343 fleshed out the story, it was heavily suggested that they kept the flood for study, explained through the books and ingame lore. This is just a classic case of "Covies not understanding the meaning" and (in expanded lore) is the exact reason why they went to war with the humans to begin with. Because the covenant based their religion around entities they did not understand. Hell, the prophets realised they fucked up when the realisation kicked in that "reclamation" IE, one of the major pillars of the existence of the covenant actually meant "reclaimer" and that the reclaimer in truth, was humanity. The fact you took one single line from the heretic leader and declaring it humanity's supposed ineptitude is quite insulting to us, viewers really. Especially when you realize that in expanded (343 lore, but still canon) lore precursor humans actually beat the flood and denied knowledge to their adversaries, the forerunners. While there can be no denying Bungee originally intended to have forerunner humans running the show back in the day, the only bit of viable proof hinting towards it are the heads, and that's still ambigious.

You notice so many cool stuff about Halo 2. I know it’s your favorite game but it would be cool if you covered the other games because you pick up on so many cool details.
I see it as: humans came from Forerunners, hence the name. Those who precede the coming or development of something else. That being humanity. So DNA wise, they are human, but probably looked differently. I picture them as they look in 343's timeline.
The guy who animated the Halo 2 storyboards also made a video talking about how humans were definitively humans he was saying that the Ark (originally located on earth) would’ve altered an already existing species and evolved them into Forerunners. Because of that they wouldn’t look exactly like the original species and that 343’s Forerunner design would actually fit that really well. There was also a H3 terminal that talked about how if the Forerunners failed to survive the Flood they’d ensure that a new civilization would arise.
There were also hints about how the Ark was located in East Africa where modern humans originated, human architecture was starting to look suspiciously like Forerunner architecture, and various other things like that. I wish that Bungie would’ve taken the comparisons even further by giving the UNSC various robots that vaguely resemble different Sentinels in terms of their overall appearance and function. That would’ve been another great method of foreshadowing.

I agree that Bungie originally went that route until Halo 3. However that hand could easily be a Forerunner hand now since they have 6 digits and two thumbs. That looks exactly like a Forerunner hand symbol now.
Halo 3 is the game that confirmed it though. Also, yeah, 343 probably created the hands for their Forerunners off of this, which would be surprising that they were willing to ignore so much from the trilogy in favor of this one tiny detail that they took too seriously since it's meant to just be accessible for left or right handed users

Also if u enter the terminals there's reversed audio that plays in the background. If u reverse it it says "Lineage confirmed". The forerunners were always human in bungie's story.
@@paperclip6377 That’s not true. Halo 3 it was split bet humans being the same or a sister species. Several ex Bungie personnel confirmed that awhile ago. Humans are still a child of the enemy of the Flood so to speak. The Forerunners took humanity in like a foster child.

@Lhg202 It's actually quite simple: In all the Bungie games and books (aka good Halo) Forerunners are humans like you and me. In 343 Industries (aka we live in the worst timeline) Forerunners are a generic looking grey skinned alien species so stupid they fought a war against humanity for centuries without realizing they didn't actually want to hurt each other.
From what I gathered, the ForeRunners never intended to be brought back to life after the rings fired and excluded themselves from reseeding the galaxies with life and intended on Humanity to become the keepers of the mantle which is why humans are referred to as the Reclaimers.
I’m probably wrong but that’s what I’ve always perceived.
Reclaimer literally means you take back what's yours, not that you make yours what was previously of others.
The whole "they didn't intend to come back" and "mantle this, mantle that" is just 343i shitty retcon. Forerunners were quite literally humans like you and me in all the Bungie Games and books. The belief that Halo 3 changed this is also a lie, that was Frank O'Connor's own agenda, not the Bungie team.

Humans and forerunners share a common ancestor now, like humans and chimpanzees. Pretty sure that’s what’s 343 is going for. The librarian went to path Kethona and found ancient forerunners living a primitive life style and noted they looked more like ancient humans. Humans and forerunners are technically separate but came from the same race
That wasn't in the Bungie canon. The idea is that they were one and the same. It's the reason why the Human-Covenant War started.

This is interesting, but calling it proof is too far-fetched. It's evidence to speculate over, at most.
Personally, I preferred Halo when it was full of mystery and intrigue. Making everything revolve around humans is as clichéd as it is predictable and boring. But ambiguity? That leaves us guessing, and that's good. Were the Forerunners a previous iteration of humanity? Advanced proto-humans? Or another race entirely? Did we kill the Precursors? Or are we picking up the reins from those who did? Leaving us with questions rather than answers: *that's* what good writing is.
Read Contact Harvest by Joseph Staten and listen to 343 Guilty Spark’s Dialogue in the games both spell it out definitively plus “Your forefathers wisely set aside their compassion, steeled themselves for what needed to be done, I see now why they left you behind, you were weak and Gods must be strong”, “Child of my enemy why have you come, I offer no forgiveness, a father’s sins pass to his son”(in the Orginal Halo 2 cut ending humans were revealed to be genetically modified to be Forerunner) and “to Earth, to finish what we started and this time none of you will be left behind”
Relying on ambiguity and making your audience write it for you is not good writing.
By the end of Halo CE, there was little ambiguity anyways: Spark referring to Humans and Forerunner as directly related wasn't really that subtle.
&kassarc16 Bungie explicitly wanted the player to come to their own head canon be using the in game information, he’ll Eric Nylund and William Dietz who wrote the first 4 novels understood this and the fact that humans are Forerunner too
Eh... All three can be argued/disproven really.
First, the "human" head just looks like any humanoid head. It's not far-fetched to think that there are yet to be (re)discovered species that have similiar humanoid traits. Heck, you could argue they look like 343's rendition of the forerunners.
Second, the hand. if we have to follow your claim, forerunner humans had 6 digits on one hand with 4 in the center and... 2 pinkies? You can't just simply declare any hand-looking figure as human.
As for the third. We know why the flood were put on ice. Even before 343 fleshed out the story, it was heavily suggested that they kept the flood for study, explained through the books and ingame lore. This is just a classic case of "Covies not understanding the meaning" and (in expanded lore) is the exact reason why they went to war with the humans to begin with. Because the covenant based their religion around entities they did not understand. Hell, the prophets realised they fucked up when the realisation kicked in that "reclamation" IE, one of the major pillars of the existence of the covenant actually meant "reclaimer" and that the reclaimer in truth, was humanity. The fact you took one single line from the heretic leader and declaring it humanity's supposed ineptitude is quite insulting to us, viewers really. Especially when you realize that in expanded (343 lore, but still canon) lore precursor humans actually beat the flood and denied knowledge to their adversaries, the forerunners.
While there can be no denying Bungee originally intended to have forerunner humans running the show back in the day, the only bit of viable proof hinting towards it are the heads, and that's still ambigious.
343 Guilty Spark called the Master Chief a Forerunner, and Mendicant Bias said that his makers were human.
