    Nice review Greg, we don't use anything smaller than a 56 cm, so can't judge, but still not convinced, "yet".

      Cheers Peter. Proof was in the video on a weedy lawn clearly bags better. I do think the new 56 bags a lot better than the old one. But there are floors with the bag bouncing around on roots etc and dropping waste. It’s still early days for small brakes so in a year or two hopefully it will be fairy bomb proof. Not convinced on the engines or gearbox. Toro seems better...

    About the clogging bag! On the old one That’s because the fabric is full of dust and dirt, wash the bag with the jet wash or blow it with the compressor if you have one once in few days after use and you will see the difference!

    • @GregsMowing
      @GregsMowing  2 года назад +1

      Thing is the design of the old one only allows the bag to get 50% full. Maybe 60% where the new one can get at least 95% full. Just a better mower all round.

      @@GregsMowing I am totally agree with you about the new one being way better all way around facing the old one in special the engine this time they chose the right engine
      I was just saying that keeping the collection bag nice and clean will improve the collection capacity

    Can only speak from my own experience but the Hayter's I used 30 years ago were superior to the newer models the company I worked for progressively bought! Haven't used them for years now but the first thing that went on them was the drive! Hopefully they've sorted that out, they do & always have give a lovely cut though.

    • @GregsMowing

      The models from the 90's with the side drive 48's was pretty simple to be honest. solid roller and a belt drive from the engine pto. Lot more complex now due to split roller and no engine pto. There are more and more restrictions on tools these days which does affect performance, but are in theory safer to use, so I'm told by multiple manufacturers. Ive used all 48's and to be honest this current pro is the nicest to use and best performance. They won't have a full width chute again due to the use of gearbox which blocks the area. Thanks for watching.

      Found the same. This new model is naff. Too heavy even more than the old mod. Honda part more expensive plus same issues as Honda small springs come loose. Okay ltd school all they way. The hayter electric mower is pretty nice. Same style as old 48.

  • @andyoxleyonhistravels
    @andyoxleyonhistravels 3 года назад

    To be honest I didn't learn much fro that so can you tell me what is the new split roller like because the last time they tried this is was a total failure and went back to a solid roller. Hayter do have a habit of taking backward steps sometimes.

    • @GregsMowing
      @GregsMowing  3 года назад

      Other videos talk about hayters new drive system. Which is a lot more durable than previous models.

      @@GregsMowing Thanks Greg, simple question . Does it clog up like the last one ?
      For me the best 48 pro they have made is the last one before they went back to this new split roller.
      What is your thoughts on the Honda engine?
      I have never had a problem in over 20 years with the Briggs and Stratton.

  • @louden1000

    For starters you need to do clean bags exact same deck hight and new blades on both for a good comparison .... The new bag is definitely smaller aswell and I know for a fact I can get a full bag out of an old one ....the split roller is a waste of time on a 48 but brilliant on the larger in longer grass the smaller chute on the new one will block however better fan design on the blade compensates it's the chute size that fails it for me .... However that little plastic cover you see at the side of the rear roller is for the rear wheel drive chain and because it's now accessible you don't need to do a strip down just to replace worn sprockets and slack drive chains Wich is absolutely brilliant

    • @GregsMowing
      @GregsMowing  2 года назад +1

      Yep the access to repair sprockets etc is great on these machines.
      Not sure why you would take a fine finish mower on longer grass enough to block the chute. A 4 wheel machine is better for that. The chute for formal regular cuts is fine.
      Comparing them like this, being used, is actually better than having new as it’s more real world. A new mower collects better than a used one as you touched on blades sharper and bag is clean. How they perform with dirty bags and slightly worn blades is what commercial users will come across 99% of the time. So more of a relevant test.
      I’ll agree we should have got the hoc more matched but this would take lot more time and wouldn’t work as the hoc aren’t identical. Both used on the same notch but it turns out no3 for example on the old one would be a no2 or even 1.5 on the new one. So hard to replicate. Will be easier comparing the harrier 56 from old to the new one as the prostripe have a variable hoc rack. Something another channel I know well is looking into.

    Do you like them because they can accommodate your very manly stature? (good height) you really need to start using other mowers, to compare haters..ehem hayetrs to them. Good review, a bit biased but for someone looking to buy at least they can see what they have to offer.
