Foreigner had a lot of great rock songs back in the 70's and 80's like this one. Others to check out: Waiting for a Girl Like You, Cold as Ice, Hot Blooded, Dirty White Boy, Double Vision, Blue Morning Blue Day, Say You Will, That Was Yesterday, Long Long Way From Home, and Head Games. Other good ones have already been done by Asia and BJ. Check what they've already done.

I think of Lou Graham's voice as one of the top voices of that era. He's in a category (those who can really belt it out) with Steve Perry (Journey), Brad Delp (Boston), Stevie Wonder and Darryl Hall (Hall & Oates) - I'm thinking of the American male voices of that genre and time period. Great memories of young years in a simpler time. Thanks for the great reaction!

    • @kentharris3878

Graham is top tier along with all of the others you mention, but I have to add one to the list. Paul Rogers fits the category and I feel is often underrated. Asia & BJ, if you like Foreigner, check out some Bad Company too. "Feel Like Makin' Love," "Bad Company," "Rock and Roll Fantasy" and "Shooting Star" would be a great start on checking them out. Love your interaction and reactions. Makes us oldsters "Feel Like the First Time" we heard these great classic songs.

The Foreigner "4" album came out my senior year of HS. I wore out 2 copies of the vinyl and 3 cassette tapes (in my car). Not a bad song on it. They were one of the hottest tickets for the live shows. Camped out at the local Turtles record store to get tickets that went on sale at 10am. Yeah, that was the only way to get good seats back then.

Me as well...my senior year of high school. In my case I was introduced to them when I was riding in the back of my buddy's VW Beetle one night when he plopped their debut release into his in-dash cassette deck. I was captivated immediately by Lou's incredible vocals, Mick's guitar style, the sweeeeet background vocals and of course the stellar songwriting. Shortly into Feels like the First Time I remember loudly asking, "Who is THIS"? We rode around for awhile so I heard most of their debut release and I absolutely loved everything I had heard from this great band. My girlfriend(now wife of 39 years) literally wore the grooves out of the album since it was on a constant loop on my dad's turntable every Friday and Saturday night. I became a diehard fan that night in the back of my buddy's Beetle...seen 'em around 30 times in concert over the years and I personally had Mick and Lou sign the debut and 4 album covers when I was backstage a little over twenty years ago. FOREIGNER ROCKS!

Great reaction to a wonderful band. I love this song, especially that half-time breakdown where Lou Graham really stretches out while singing the chorus. Incidentally, the lead singer was the lone American in this British band....which I think was the reasoning behind the band name Foreigner. 😉

I asked what they were like, he said, if you’re not sure what kind of music someone is into, this album would probably make them happy. The year was 1977 and these professional musician's have a back ground on how they came to be the Band Foreigner
    Excerpt from wikipedia as follows.
Foreigner is a British-American rock band, originally formed in New York City in 1976 by veteran British guitarist and songwriter Mick Jones and fellow Briton and ex-King Crimson member Ian McDonald, along with American vocalist Lou Gramm. Jones came up with the band's name as he, McDonald and Dennis Elliott were British, whereas Gramm, Al Greenwood and Ed Gagliardi were American.[3][4]
In 1977 Foreigner released its self-titled debut album, the first of four straight albums to be certified at least 5× platinum in the US. Foreigner peaked at No. 4 on the US album chart and in the Top 10 in Canada and Australia, while yielding two Top 10 hits in North America, "Feels Like the First Time" and "Cold as Ice". Their 1978 follow-up, Double Vision, was even more successful peaking at No. 3 in North America with two hit singles, “Hot Blooded” a No. 3 hit in both countries, and the title track, a US No. 2 and a Canadian No. 7. Foreigner's third album, Head Games (1979), went to No. 5 in North America producing two Top 20 singles, including its title track.

I love these Asia and BJ 😊 …and i am SO old (saw Foreigner live in 1980) that it feels like the first time watching these two beautiful people jammin’ to one of my fave childhood bands!
Seen many good Foreigner suggestions from others. Don’t think I saw anyone suggest Dirty White Boy, but it’s a banger - as is the title track from the album it came: Head Games!

Lead singer is Lou Gramm. One ofnthe great, underrated vocalists of rock.

Their first big hit back in my high school days. We all bought the self titled Foreigner album. So many bangers on it. My first high school boyfriend asked me out when this was playing in the background at a school sports carnival. I said yes! It only lasted 2 weeks but the song stayed with me forever 😁

Y’all are just now dipping a toe into the very deep pool that is Foreigner. I would love to hear about how you get over a “Blue Morning”,as if “That Was Yesterday “

I used to jam out in my car to this, had it on 8-track! 😁 I highly recommend listening to their "Foreigner 40... Forty Hits From Forty Years" album. Not a bad song in the bunch. My favorite is Soul Doctor.

I have been a Foreigner fan from the beginning. Owned a few of their albums I played over, and over. Thanks Asia and BJ! (I hope you had your headphones turned up - the only way to listen to Foreigner) 😉
