    #SoiréeDePoche #PocketParty
    Nils Frahm playing a show in a Parisian Apartment for La Blogotheque series "Soirées de Poche"
    "We showed him the piano; it was as if we were introducing someone to him to the first time. He lifted the lid, hit a couple of keys, smiled and murmured, "He's got character". Later: "He's unpredictable. I like it". He played a little more, and called out to us once more: "Hmm... there's a slight chance that I might break it. I get excited sometimes." We didn't tell this to our hosts; instead, we crossed our fingers."
    The whole story is here :

    I never heard a pianist who would feel the instrument the way Nils feels it. he's my role model. pure delight

    Nils Frahm made an album called 'Felt', in which he put a cloth made of felt over the strings to be quieter for his neighbours. That whole album is recorded with felt on the strings, that's why he performs the same way.

    I love the title so much. The first meaning of ''Poche'' is ''Pocket''. And we often use it in a metaphorical way to speak about something so little that it could enter a pocket. For example ''a pocket computer'' would mean ''a tiny computer''.
    But what you got to know is that ''poche'' can also be used in a familiar way to describe someone full of alcohol. And if you put the words ''night'' and ''pocket'' together, the first meaning that comes to my mind is ''a night of drunkard''.

    • @KnockKnockBoom

      that is awesome, thanks

    • @fabmyst8349
      @fabmyst8349 5 лет назад +3

      In a way you re right .. to clarify ... "poche" is not really related to alcohol ... in french we say "pochetron" which is very familiar and means "drunkard" ... but "poche" can also mean "tiny" indeed ... so i think the meaning of the tittle is something like "tiny (or intimate) party" . For info "poche" also means "plastic bag" in the South of France.

    Hearing the same note for two minutes creates repetition and ultimately boredom. But when other notes are introduced, it changes the way we perceive the first note. And because the new notes are fresh, they really stand out in the mind.
    I think.

      I enjoy doing that with a simple midi controller and soft synths, mapping rotary controls to the ADSR envelope and just jamming for ages.

    30 years ago when I was a little kid, I often visited my grandmother. She had a big apartment with lots of rooms and fascinating things. She also had an old piano which I loved to just look at and play on. I never learned to play it correctly though, wish I had. This sounds just like her piano. I miss her.

    You have to respect what the artist is doing with this song.It's not too long in the start for nothing,if you're bored so fast and judge a song by a repeated note,maybe this music isn't for you.He's building the song that way,so that when the melody comes it feels more distinct and present.

    He repeats the tone at the start as a sort of hypnosis, it's a prelude, according to La Blogoteque the opening drone put one of the children in the apartment to sleep. That's what he wanted.
