    A Ferrari is awesome to look at and drive on a smooth highway but not on a muddy mountain road.

      good comparison. you just don’t get those low droning growls a nice round mountain fiddle can catch.

    Do you know the difference between a violin and a fiddle?
    A violin has four strings.
    A fiddle has four strangs.

    I also learned on a violin with a bridge modified for fiddling, not one of those Strads. It's flattened out a bit more to make the transition between strings a lot faster and smoother. Ain't gotta move your arm up n down as much!

      Winter Quarters You can. Just like Tommy, I cannot play anyone else's fiddle because I am use to the feel of mine. Hell, I can barely play my second fiddle because it feels so different from my old one.

    Wait?..... Why the violin is tuned differently???? Can someone answer??

    • @FamousJerkey
      @FamousJerkey 2 года назад +2

      many old-time fiddle songs are played on different tunings. It's easier to play the song that way and it makes the fiddle resonate in the chord of the song

    Excellent fiddlers have played 'Old Masters" instruments, and remarked that they have outstanding musical potential, but are not "forgiving".
    A person must be an accomplished musician to make these instrument sound great. Violins, like other stringed instruments, sound best when played often. Museums pay professional fidders to periodicalt play their instruments. Creating undesired sound on a fiddle/violin is not difficult.
