It’s a bummer to get old.. but I’m glad I grew up watching Don Kirshner’s rock concert and the midnight special.. people today will never be able to watch that type of TV again ever… times have changed for the worse
"Some kind of weird"? You mean there are more ways to have fun than we were raised to know? Damn
....!😊😅😂
I totally agree we had the greatest
😅😮😅@@markzuelch7452
Wolfman was only 36 here. Wow lol.
Long live the spirit of Wolfman jack.
Burton Cummings has one of the best voices in Rock & Roll.
such a cool song. What an honor for Wolfman Jack. Its a period piece, really
Wolfman was a one off. Not even AI technology could replicate his voice and style
@@DG-sf9ei Oh he was. I love playing this song on both piano and guitar. Feel like Burt himself singing it.
Lol the Wolfman was so cool!
Burton had one of the most consistently great voices of the time.
Has
Still does.
I worked with a guy in California and he would play this song over and over. Drove the boss nuts. Haven't heard it in about 40 years.
Nice
Lol. Did you work with the Wolfman?
Funny. Love the song here, though I could see how it could irritate someone who wasn't into it, especially an older boss not into the "hippie scene". 🤭
Sure beats listening to grab those old records off the shelf
Burton Cummings... terrific singer. One of the best in his generation.
Burton Cummings is one of the greatest Canadian rock singers ever. The Guess Who were one of my favorite groups of the late sixties and seventies.
So thankful to be a part of that Generation, because I was there!
My band opened up for The Guess Who in 1992, when I was 20 years old. Not really knowing their music and only having heard clips of their songs on the “Freedom Rock” commercials on MTV, I asked their guitar player at sound check, (singing) “These Eyes, these eyes have seen a lot of…”, “seen a lot of what?” And he stopped, looked me dead in the eyes, and said “Smoke.” And kept on walkin’. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hahaha... he wasn't having it.
If it was 1992 it wasn't the real Guess Who anyway. No Burton Cummings....no Guess Who
I still enjoy this song 50 years later. Love The Guess Who and the Legend Wolfman Jack.
Wolfman Jack, coolest DJ ever ......he's the best! What's up with Burton? It's like he's going for a new image the Great Gatsby look!
As an old ret DJ,,, Let me say,, I miss the days of Radio. Yes that wonderful, colorful medium, that can never be matched. It started it all. The likes of 'Wolman Jack" are the Kings of mixing heart and soul with the music. Plus,,, Inventing these Tremendous Characters so many of us grew up adoring, and aspiring to be! 😊 RIP WOLFMAN.,, and all those who came before, These Colorful DJ's opened the floodgates for Entertainment, and Worldwide connections. Some of us still remember,,,,and will always love you Big Brother. Great song Burton!!
Canadian musical perfection live, on the massively popular USA music show Midnight Special. Just like in America, Canadians would stay up late to see one of the only music TV shows available at that time. Canada's Guess Who appeared many times on the show, including this date March 29, 1974 as hosts. Hope to see more Guess Who appearances including this full show where they played: "American Woman," "Star Baby," "These Eyes," "Clap for the Wolfman"" & "Hand Me Down World".
Great band and tunes! ✌️
I believe These Eyes and American Woman are already up. I also think Stand Tall is up. Been tuning into this channel since the day they put it up.
@@thedevilwuster"Stand Tall" is a Burton Cummings solo song from.1976.
@@billybandyk0720 I know that. I had it on 45
@@thedevilwuster Likewise here. BTW; that's what u call.a POWER BALLAD!!!!! "Stand Tall" just has that rhythm & message that just says "power ballad"..CLASSIC INDEED!!!!!
Oh man. I remember this song. I haven't heard it in years. In fact, I forgot about it but I loved it. Wow! Burton Cummings wrote a song just for the Wolfman. How cool is that? Hey, everybody! Rock on.....❤❤❤
Burton is so under appreciated. What a great voice and great song writer.
No he’s not 💤💤💤💤
@@KittyGrizGriz not what, under appreciated or or great?
@@ihatespam2 He’s not “under appreciated” at all imho. That’s like saying the lame over used “underrated” term we see in comments all~the~time. Peace out.
@@KittyGrizGriz sorry, something “common” automatically makes you say, lame. But I stand by the fact that he does not appear enough or high enough on any of the lists or in general. But maybe you think the public and critics sees him perfectly in context, that’s fine. I don’t.
@@ihatespam2 Other commenter’s here are tired of seeing the ‘term’ used also, not just me. We can agree to disagree though, cheers :)
That was a fun song to hear on the radio as a kid. Burton was in good form here. Cool to see Wolfman Jack doing it live. Just a happy tune from The Guess Who for a Friday!😀
Love Burton’s voice & Wolfman Jack, musical history making right here folks 🙌🙌🙌
One of the most underrated bands....Period..
Not that ‘term’ 😂
I was about to write this until I saw your comment. Totally agree, my friend. Unfortunately most people don't understand this. It's not just because they like a band that it doesn't make sense. Guess Who, Badfinger and many others were indeed underrated bands. Cheers from Brazil.
@KittyGrizGriz
I know. I'm tired of hearing "underrated". It's OVERRATED. The use of that word is overrated and it's used by young people who weren't even around at that time. Sheesh....🙄🤪🤡
I never thought of them as underrated. Period.
@@sweetcaroline2060✌️😂👌😉
Loved this clip. The more Wolfman on this channel the better.
Great radio song! I wish the 70’s could come back and all the people we’ve lost since then and do it all over again! Space ace Ron ⚡️⚡️⚡️
Yep, don't get any better than this.
Such a class act
I would like to see the performance of 'Come undone' that this marvelous tv show has with one of the best bands ever 'The Guess Who'. 😊
Watched it just last night. The whole episode is now available
Clap For The Wolfman 👏
Saw some Midnite Specials, musta been a 10 year old and fell asleep early this night so long ago. Glad to enjoy it now 😊
Outstanding!!! I remember watching, the Midnight Special was a big deal and Wolfman was a big part of it...!
Wolfie was so stoned... LOL Those were the days!
Outstanding
This shall be immortalized.
god bless you wolfman
A masterpiece! Excellent live performance.
So far, 559 people get it. This is legendary.
Just an amazing piece of music history
The Guess Who was a band I've long heard of but never heard. Until now.
Burton Cummings, classically trained opera singer turned rock and roller.
Burton was not classically trained. He actually dropped out of school at 17 to pursue a music career.
@@dude01051960Ty for this tidbit, what a great decision for Burton & especially us!! ❤
When music wz fun!!...70's beach boys/ Spiders & Snake
The Streak❤😂😂😂
Wolfman Jack was my first in person autograph I ever got close to 50 years ago , he was great to meet for a 7 old fan and my younger brother . I eventually lost it after so many times of moving and misplacing stuff over the years
Clap for the Wolfman. The one and only Wolfman.🐈
I'm clapping for joy on a Friday morning!!
Me too for Wolfman! Even though I was @ chemo - but this made it BETTER!
❤🖐🖐HEY CHICKY!! 🖐🖐❤
ABSOLUTELY LOVE Burton!!
Such a voice!! (And such a bod!! 😊)
@@DianaJG8 I've been wondering about you! You are making it through?
Those were the days !!!
I had forgotten this song.....just plain awesome. God blessed my childhood with songs like this!
Wolftastic!!
Still love that song, great performance!
O WOW!! This is simply delicious!!!❤❤
Wolfman Jack was on WLS Megawatt channel out of Chicago in the 1970s , one of the last before the FCC shut them down, it could be heard all up the East Coast into Canada..😄
I've watched this how many times? Yea, That many.. LOL.. Awesome song. Awesome Group.
AND My main radio idol, Robert Weston Smith AKA Wolfman Jack..
Randy A Carlisle // DJ // KSGV // Seagoville Tx
The line-up here is Burton Cummings (piano, lead vocals), Kurt Winter (guitar), Donnie McDougall (guitar), Bill Wallace (bass) and Garry Peterson (drums). Randy Bachman left the band in 1970, and by this time he was in BTO.
" Shine an ever lovin' light on me." ❤".
I always sang it as, "Clap From The Wolfman".
Love this! Keep 'em coming!
Forever
As a Winnipeger I still love our band. This song ,though, was goofy and foreshadowed the band’s demise.
Love it, great song, great singing (Burton, that is!)
Priceless
Great video!
What a great group -lots of hits -are they even in the rock n Roll hall of Fame-?
Classic!
It'll be around forever...
The GW were a staple on my tunes! Burtons vocals and the Randy guitar!!! Coolio
THIS has to be the #1 song of all on this channel!
I love me some Wolfman... ànd the Guess Who!!! When the Wolfman passed my kids and I drove around in my Chevette listening to a local station playing his radio shows.
I have a Wolfman Jack album signed by The Wolfman ! One and only!
Why aren’t they in the R&R HOF!
Watched on Detroit's ABC affiliate channel 7 air date. Wished they had played Running Back to Saskatoon.
Love you Wolfman
Wolfman Jack had been deejaying for a long time by then. Strange---At the time I remember thinking that he was a little old, but now I think he looks so young.
R.I.P. Wolfman
clap fpor the wolf ma!
Nice Nice I remember this was my childhood .,what’s a wonderful song 😎😎😎👍👍👍
If you've got the curves, I've got the angles!!
Haha! At first I thought he said “ankles” 😂
Such a great Era! I lived to see it!
Please please put more Guess Who on here!
Yes Burt, please please put more Guess Who on here!
This band is amazing, truly underrated.
What!?! The Guess Who is underrated? 😴🤡🥳
💤 💤 💤
The Guess Who may have been the most sartorially challenged band to ever appear on The Midnight Special
lol
Why
Their outfits are awesome especially the guitar player Kurt Winter’s jeans and t shirt
👍❤😄
I was 12 bopping to this song in the street of my neighborhood!.. lmao 🎉🎉😂
something tells me that Wolfman loves the spotlight
Epic
Randy Bachman far left. One of the greatest musicians EVER !!!
Not sure about that - BTO was going strong in 1974
On the far left is Kurt Winter, not Randy Bachman..
BTO
Whenever there's a super moon, and you know what happens, I imagine his funky style of jawin': You think that's a super moon? You should have seen what I saw on the way to the studio! Hey baby, if you're listening, yours deserved a better ride than a Duster! I'm sorry, that was a Gremlin (Geator, hope you guys are knocking one back over there)!
Did Todd Rundgren appear on TMS? He recorded "Wolfman Jack". One version of the song featured Wolfman himself.
Todd Rundgren did "Hello It's Me" on the show. Whether he did that song on it is a good question.
I don't think he did "Wolfman Jack". The only other song he did on that episode is "Black Maria".
Would have been perfect had Todd also been on this episode!!! TWO Wolfman Jack songs, LOL!!!
Clap this comment if you remember the 'Wolfman Jack'.....oh, God, we had it SO good!!!
My personal fave from TGW!!!!!
"As long as you got the curves baby, I got the angles. "
Too bad Rundgren wasn't also on this episode......
"Full moon tonight, everything's all right
Baby come on back to Wolfman Jack
I may miss your loving while I'm on my back
But you can't escape from Wolfman Jack
You can't do this to me....."
WOLF ❤🎉💯🌞 My QUEEN 💋, ANOTHER FINE LADY, Damn I'm all upset because I didn't know this Lady in 1995 to 2009 , I was an entertainer I would have danced to nothing but Jaguar
Gott em All
Why aren't the Guess Who in the Rock and Roll HOF. They are totally being overlooked, like BTO, Joe Cocker, and Three Dog Night.
👏❤🐺👏
I've got a hat like that.
Nice, that style of hat is my favorite
Newsboy cap, I love them too & hats in general, 😊
Absolutely classic
Kinda like an early rap song 😂
Burton is a genius. I got to get wolfmans auto in Omaha
School bus song for me!
🤓🙋♂️👍
Funny
🤗🙏🍺cheers
Back when you could play rock while rocking a bowtie.
Didn't Ray Davies also wear one?
1974
From a distance Burton looks like The Captain of Captain and Tennille.
