In the top 5, HAS to be Derrick Lewis as #1, (now the rest I can’t decide order but ..) khabib, Dom Cruz, Till, and I guess Conor but a little hesitant to put him in my top 5 cause he was only funny during the rise.. once he fought Mayweather it’s like he lost that quick wittiness and he really had no one-liners or humor at all anymore
Honorable mention any women fighters at the end if you can.

The biggest miss we’ve ever had in the UFC was not getting a full media tour between Bisping and Chael. That would have been the trash talk battle of the century.
Lot of people said that at the time... I didn't dislike Chael and didn't have chance to develop one. The fight was agreed to just days before we fought.
100 % you can tell there both withdrawn and dry af deep into a weight cut in the interview with Ariel but were still brilliant
I think Mike was still developing his personality at that time, the Mike of this day would be epic trash talking Chael.

I cover the sport for decades now and the Top 5 in my Book are:
*5. Colby Covington* - Yes he is a little bit cringy at times but he also has some very funny lines.
*4. Michael Bisping* - Of course he is a loudmouth and acted like an asshole occasionally but he his kind of a loveable asshole. I always loved this guy and that means something coming from a `kraut` ;-) Bisping dropped many very funny lines. The famous one with which he made Rockhold look like a complete muppet made me laugh my ass off. I cant help but smirk when I think about that moment still to this day.
*3. Dominick Cruz* - He had a complete different approach with his trash talking. Its how calm and analytic he picked apart his opponents what made him so special in that regard. No yelling, no intimidating. Just cool, calm and precise like a surgeon.
*2. Conor McGregor* - I struggled to decide putting him at 1 or 2 but I think I`m gonna go with the second place for him. Just for the specific reason that he lost much of his trash talking abilities in my book. He was a hilarious trash talker BUT he wasnt that good when his opponent came down back hard on him with some really good lines. He often didnt know really how to react or you could tell that he got hurt by that. Remember when Eddie completely dismantled him with this welfare and price tag stuff. Alvarez literally did shut him down with that. Same thing with Nate when he dropped the "touchbutt with the dork in the park" lines on him. He didnt know what to say as well. Plus his own lines got worse and worse. His talking in the press conference with Khabib was garbage. So was his talking in the build up to the 3rd fight with Dustin. His creativity from his haydays as a trash talker is completely gone. But at his trash talking "prime" he was untouchable. Thats why I put him at number 2, even thought about number 1.
*1. Chael Sonnen* - Sonnen for me is the GOAT of trash talking. Unlike authentic trash talkers like Bisping, Nate or Conor his trash talking always seemed scripted. Like he practiced it in front of the mirror. But it still was so hilarious and so creative. AND he was very very smart with it. Its not like he just waited to drop some prepared lines. He did set traps very very smart. A prime example was the infamous press conference with Tito where he completely annihilated him. The reporter asked both guys what they think their opponents do well. Chael wanted Tito to go first. Just because he knew exactly what Tito was about to say. Chael only gets his opportunities because of his talking blablabla. And sure enough Tito literally jumped into Chaels trap and said exactly that. A perfect setted trap. This allowed Chael to drop the for me most hilarious line in mma history. Refering to Titos fiance, the pornstar Jenna Jameson, he said something like:" Tito always says I got my opportunities only because of my mouth but the only person I know making money with the mouth is his ex-wife." I was rolling on the floor laughing. Imagine he would`ve followed up with something like:"He took more shots to the head than his fiance." That would`ve been even more epic. The facial expression of Paul Daley, who was sitting next to Chael was like:"WHAT? No way he just said that." 😅 Anyways ... that example shows how smart Chael was with his talking. He did set traps perfectly and always was 2 steps ahead.
Therefore Chael is still the trash talking GOAT

Great list. People overlook dominick cruz. I think he is one of the best. I'd probably push colby back few ranks and put sombody else. Colby's style is just shoutimg more with rehearshed lines than saying anything quick and witty.
Conors trash talk only worked with a crowd. The presser with him and Khabib with no crowd present he was lost and the trash talk came across as weak & super cringey

Mcgregor is number one because it wasn’t scripted. Chael was the best at the delivery of his lines and his writing but off the cuff it’s Mcgregor hands down.

Depression is a major issue with young men right now, My only son Sean ended his life 4 years ago as a result of his Depression. that's why psychiatry does exist ... but when somebody doesn't believe in help, doesn't want to talk about their problems, doesn't want to take meds, people around him make fun from those problems, never take it seriously, whatever... then it's hard. Guys like Rampage and Derrick Lewis were funny through their entire careers. When it comes to UFC, you gotta go by eras of trash talk. Chael's Middleweight Championship pursuit, Brock Lesnar going after Mir, Conor's Champ Champ era, those stand out to me

I don't need all the microphone heroics to tune in to the fight. I get just as hyped to watch two respectful fighters who are having fun making some money together. Imo you will always get more respect from the fan base by acting respectfully than disrespectfully.

the only reason Paddy is being noticed is how annoying he is. He hasn't got the humour to pull off Macgreggor style antics, people are only interested to see him lose.
I like his outspoken demeanor but it’s not even close to prime Conor. If you have to say it feels like the next Mcgregor then it’s not. Mcgregor has something special where he captivates people like no other.

Dominick Cruz is #1 the best at mental warfare. There’s trash talk, then there is Truth talk (which cuts deeper) and nobody does that better than Dominick Cruz. #2 id’e say Conor Mcgregor. Conor’s mental warfare is hit or miss today though, which has to do with his lack of success in the octagon. Still, when he’s successful..his mental warfare can be incredible. #3 is non other than you Michael. Your mental warfare was amazing. You were sharp, funny and pretty brutal with your comments. Some trash talk and some truth talk. It was always a pleasure to watch.

Now Michael, I know that you only get to play with daddy Dana's toys on this list but a list of great shit talkers in MMA is incomplete without Charles "Crazy Horse" Bennett. Say what you will about his conduct outside the ring, while forgiving McGregor and Jones, but Crazy Horse did more effective trash talk using just body language than most fighters can even dream of. Laying down on the entrance ramp like he is ready for a nap, not even looking at his opponent during stare downs, and talking shit to the camera right before a fight while his opponent goes from "intimidating" to "sad" because Bennett obviously does not care a lick that they are stood there ready to take his head off. In the land of MMA shit talkers, the Crazy Horse is king!

I'd give Chael Sonnen #1. Conor is undoubtedly great at the mic but his accent and swear words back it up a lot. Chael is awesome with no cuss words just pure class and charisma.
