Empty NYC During COVID-19 Pandemic | March 2020

- This video was filmed on March 28, 2020 in New York City during the COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) pandemic. With guidance from Governor Cuomo, New Yorkers were told to stay home in order to flatten the curve of the spread of this new virus. With social distancing practices in place, however, I was able to walk through parks and major tourist hubs to get a breath of fresh air and fully take in the views of an empty city.

The city that never sleeps finally sleeps. Sad to see it like this :((
You will probably never see NY so empty ever again, but for some strange reason it was peaceful and calm, at least the big apple 🍎 got a break from pollution. I'm sure natural and all the wildlife appreciated it tremendously!
We are
officially in the history now,we will talk about the Coronavirus pandemic in schools in the future, and we could talk about this moment to our children and grandchildren
I have to confess, I was teary eye'd.
It is sad to see the city so quiet, but to know that millions of people are following the stay-at-home rules is pretty incredible.
You Tube its only on its knees because of the leader lol
It’s tiring and boring being quarantined now for two weeks, but somehow feels good that the city that never sleeps finally took a nap
You know, I felt the same way! There was something peaceful about a silenced city. Ironic given the circumstances.
Im gonna look back at these 10 years from now and show this to my future kids...
That’s what motivated me to make this video! I just wanted to capture this moment in time so I can eventually look back on it.
If you have kids. The virus might mutate and create a stronger virus strand that is immune to vaccines.
What future?
No need to wait 10 years. Just look back at it in November when it is time to do something about it. This could all have been avoided. VOTE BLUE!
Thanks for viewing and Comment much appreciated
Frighteningly
Sad...
a sci-fi movie no more
difficult time I hope it will pass soon
Same! Thank you for watching.
Thanks for comment and viewing we are praying for the same.
Beautiful video. So sad & scary. Stay safe. Hopefully by summer we'll be free again
Sandy! Thank you for watching. Hope you are well. :)
New York City has become a ghost town just like, Los Angeles.
Sad.
Great City, Great People, stay strong💪😉
there's always one person walking around...
Did you happen to see the person in a full trash bag? I am surprised no one has questioned that yet!
@@akfasso yeah i saw that! that was funny lol
TheConorsmithusa maybe because they had to go to work to save lives
This is so sad. This whole thing is just so so sad. I am from Australia 🇦🇺 we are watching from a distance the devastation while we are currently living to prevent this.
Hoping you guys stay safe in Australia!
May I use a snippet of this video for a project with my high school students? (Specifically the shots of Lincoln Center, and empty Times Square) We would give proper credit.
Sure. Thank you for asking.
Wow! Beautiful made video that will be appreciated for years to come. Must have been something to experience that.
It's pretty much the same all over World where everything has shut down from big to small City no matter how rich or how poor , when disaster strikes we take shelter .
2:41 Even that MnM looks so sad!
So true thanks for comment and viewing please follow me and I make sure M& M will smile back at you soon.
Beautiful video..Thank you, stay safe 🥰
Thank you. You as well!
My heart is aching for everyone. This video is hauntingly beautiful. I wish we all can conquer this soon. Love and best wishes from Pakistan :')
Thank you for watching! Hope you are staying safe, as well. :)
❤
Sad knowing NYC could've done much better if they had a competent mayor and governor, literally 2 of the most corrupt politicians in one state....what could possibly go wrong 🤦♂️🤦♂️
Thank you for an amazing footage. I really love how you capture all aspects of the city during the pandemic within such a short video.
What about Hospitals? Are they full or empty?
Fempty. Depends on who you ask. They were definitely full BEFORE the pandemic.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making this video.
“Vanilla Sky”energy gone and the city is on hold. It’s unreal to see a Big city sleeping with the lights on. I feel especially for the homeless in NY, absolutely no where to feel safe.
It was so peaceful. I worked as a security guard through all of it. New York City without all the people was creepy but beautiful too. Without all us disgusting humans mucking about the apple truly is not that rotten.
This was 🔥🔥🔥
I'm just across the river and less than 10 minutes away. Never thought a month would go by where I didn't step foot in Manhattan, but here we are.
Beautiful shots. Thank you for this historical timepiece.
Remember
This is what normal people had to live with after Thanos snapped.
My sister in-law used to buy cloths for a High end women's fashion business, she had to go to New York three to four times a year to buy lines of clothing for their business. She also traveled to other parts of the country and world also. After a few years on the job she told us at one our family gatherings that she had always wondered about how people treated each other throughout the world and after she had been to New York a few years, she said she had found the most rudest people on earth.
2020 made the biggest pandemic history in the world 😞😷☹️
I just wanted to thank you for documenting that dude taking a leak at 1:09!!!
I had to double check my original footage after seeing this comment! Though it may look like he's peeing, he actually just walks up to the area with his phone. He is filming the guitar player with his phone (holding it low, obviously). Wouldn't be surprised if I caught someone peeing, though. Did you see the plastic bag person at @2:28? :)
akfasso- haha on second thought I suppose you are probably right. Lol. I def just saw a dude taking a leak on first watch. If he is filming with a phone that makes sense.
The plastic bag person reminds me of the Ewoks from Star Wars for some reason.
Beautiful desolation.. replaced by whatever it is now
Very well made footage, love it! Boston is pretty much the same, but probably more people going outside without wearing a mask when weather is nice. It is sad and very difficult time, hopefully the worst is already here and it will be over soon.
Thank you. I appreciate the compliment. Stay safe!
This video has many locations related to the Ghostbusters 1984 movie!
FINALLY PEACE...NO MORE CRIME...KILLING...DRUGS...GAMBLING...etc...etc..etc..yes the list goes on and on....GOD IS GOING TO STOP THIS ON HIS TIME...AND WERE NOT !!!!!!! TO CONTINUE TO DO THE EVIL THINGS.....
The killing never stopped! It was just committed by an administration who knew this was possible and crippled us in the fight. There is more killing by the fools in this administration, especially the clown in the White House, than that on 9/11!
...positive thought... the violence is down ya know. Our families are with us right now, whoever they may be, I'm grateful for that no matter how short lived this may be ❣
Thanks for this! I always try to look on the positive side of things. Definitely grateful for what I have.
Thank you so much for documenting this time.
Thank you for the video. It is a good record for the time..
Pathetically beautiful
😢 Nice music.
Is it ok if I use some of this footage for a empty city compilation? I’ll put the link to your video in the description along with other videos 😊
Sure. Thanks for asking. As long as my footage gets an on-screen credit (@akfasso) wherever my footage is used, I’m ok with it. Thanks!
Great job..wish you didn't have to make this one though. Hope it is over soon. Reminds me of your sunrise videos since hardly any people around. Stay safe!
Thanks for watching! It felt like filming one of my sunrise videos! I think that's what got me out the door to do it -- to see these major tourist hubs without any crowds. Stay well. :)
that made me sad and happy at the same time. I was so sad to see NY asa if it was in a horror movie... 29 years I have lived and worked in that city, only after say sept 11th did I ever see it so empty, however, I am happy cause this is not the case. this if for all our healths, staying home, and although it is still sad how many people are having a rough time with corona, and sadder still the fact that people have passed away from it, we are all staying home and taking care fo each other by doing so! so that is good news that people are listening.
You are right! It really is a mix of emotions... sad to know the medical horrors that are happening all across the city (and the world), but happy to see New Yorkers really just listening to advice and STAYING INSIDE.
This is the way that mother nature cured herself..

@@akfasso It's going to get real challenging here. Please keep us in your prayers.

Just like pandemic time

The word change march 2020
Good too see footage from the upper west side where I’m from 🤝✅
Hey there, neighbor. :) Thank you for watching.
✨❤️✨
my soul is so empty now...
Hey there! So I'm a writer and filmmaker and I'm trying to make a short film of written monologues, in a sort of interview style of peoples testimonies about the positive effects of this quarantine (i.e. Reconnecting with family, learning new skills) and I plan to have all of it voiced over footage of abandoned places and such, I hope it's not too bold to ask but I would really love to use some of this footage in the film and give you 100%credit for said footage. I am contacting others and the goal is to sort of have everyone pitch in and make this film together from quarantine. If you would be interested in letting me use some of this footage, let me know!
Justin, thank you for asking. You are allowed to use my footage as long as you can include an on-screen credit wherever my footage is used (@akfasso). Thanks! Please send me a link when you publish your video. Would love to check it out.
@@akfasso Thank you so much! I will keep you updated on the progress!

Mother Nature 🙏
Hey! Love this footage! Can I use it for a teaser trailer I'm doing!?
Hi Trevor. May I ask what the trailer is for? I’m generally ok with people using my footage as long as it gets an on-screen credit wherever the footage is used. Thank you for asking.
When all the naive are dead it'll return to normal.
a different world, or, is it?
Wow I like your video it's very awesome 😊
Thanks for watching!
What is the music playing?
Thanks for your comment. I am actually going to add it to the description now, but it is from a subscription service I have with musicbed.com. The song is called "Unceasing" by Bradford Nyght.
@@akfasso Thank you.
This is sad.
