Should You Buy Lifting Shoes???

  • Should you buy lifting shoes? Maybe! If you struggle to hit depth on a squat due to limited ankle mobility, they could be a great option. They alter the body’s center of gravity with their elevated heel. This allows you to go deeper with less ankle mobility requirements. This increases knee flexion, placing more emphasis onto your quads. Most lifting shoes also have a solid bottom, ensuring that you are producing force through a stable surface.

i would not actually recommend standing on plates because the instability from that will cause your nervous system to inhibit the amount of force you can exert

From my own anecdotal experience, I haven’t noticed a difference in my ability to move weights using a plate under the foot or without.

Yeah... no. Your nervous system won't give a fuck. You might just fall over or have a more unsteady lift.

From my experience, it’s entirely valid. I blasted ATG high bar squats to help with my low bar. I always used plates under my feet to squat deeper and easier in high bar. Works great. Im only looking into lifting shoes now bc I might as well treat myself for my birthday coming up

@TheBrick534 @@bryanenty8385 It is all fun until you slip just like me. Takes just one millisecond of bad luck to have fun for eternity. Almost tripped. Never again

THATS WHY MY BACK IS COLLAPSING. I had to change shoes recently due to travel and went from Converse to what I happened to have lying around: New Balance generic training shoes. Soft, uniform sole. No wonder I can't hit my old number and my back has started collapsing: instability has eliminated my range of motion and my hips are rolling to compensate. Thanks so much for posting this! I just thought i had become weak 🤣🤣🤣

I would not use that elevated heel for deadlifting.

Looked like it said No Bull on the back which is Dwayne the rock’s brand. Could be wrong tho looking into these shoes for the first time.

Im confuse to decide which is better adidas powerlift 5 or adidas adipower ? Im usually use size 10 uf im buying those shoes should i go half size up ? Thanks

    • @TheBrick534

The power lifts have a lower heel than the adipowers.
A lot of it comes down to preference and anatomy. If you have really long femurs and a short torso which forces you to have to lean waaay forward in a squat, I’d recommend the adipowers.

everything about this video is wrong. Converse are the worst type of shoe for lifting.

bad for squats but not bad for deadlifts cus of the flat sole

@@nobodyfour1686 A flat sole isn't bad for squatting. If you have bad ankle mobility that's on you, not the shoe.

Bruh. Mad skinny-thigh dudes talking about shoes. Look at those lil hams, they don’t care what shoe you in. Shoes are not going to help you get beefy; you just need to have firm soles so you don’t get hurt. Not that complicated. Buy regular ass shoes. Been rocking Nike Varsity Competes - basic shoes with firm soles and OK support - for years now. Y’all overthinking it.

Lol there’s some truth to what you’re saying, but I’m assuming you’re not a tall dude, us 6ft and over have long ass femurs so the elevated heel helps us tremendously with the lack of ankle mobility that comes with it, half squats are not a problem with any shoe but for trying to go ATG using the elevated heel is godsend

No one’s overthinking it. You’re just having an ego trip 😂. And flat soled shoes can absolutely make a difference over some memory foam

Oh okay, I guess Ill just ignore all the power lifters and olympic lifters with tree trunks for legs wearing lifting shoes then
