- When was the last time you watched Iron Man 2? Did you know it’s almost been ten years since the second Iron Man film was in theaters? CRAZY! In this film, Tony Stark has ousted himself as Iron Man and is up against Ivan Vanko AKA Whiplash and Justin Hammer from Hammer Tech. Tony is dealing with his arc reactor chest piece poisoning him and he turns to work of his dad (Howard Stark) to find a cure. All the while, Pepper Potts is now the head of Stark Industries, with Natasha Romanov AKA Black Widow as her assistant, and Rhodey has finally become War Machine. During the race there’s potentially a Union Jack easter egg. The UK driver is listed as “Chapman”, which could be a nod to Joey Chapman, the third person to take up the mantle of Union Jack in the comics

Josh Olivares What baffles me is that like Sam said people would confuse Namor with Aquaman just because they technically come from the same homeworld besides Marvel would not take a chance on a Namor movie unless they've already established the Fantastic Four and even then I doubt The Aquaman movie will be any good seeing as DC has done a banged up job with their train wreck of a superhero movie universe.

I like how we see an early hint at how much Tony doesn't like Captain America through the misuse of the shield. It's like a good bit of foreshadowing of events to come.

The location of the raft prison is in the North Atlantic, not the south

Fun facts:
1) There was a huge huge backlash (pun intended) when people found out Don Cheadle was replacing Terrance Howard with even a few reaction videos on youtube but since there was no turning back from this decision..Rhodey's first line in the movie is.. "Look, it's me, I'm here. Deal with it. Let's move on."
2) The scene where Black Widow fights them henchmen in the corridor was storyboarded by Genndy Tartakovsky creator of Samurai Jack and who would later direct the Hotel Transylvania movies. Jon Favreau liked the way he directed action so he asked his help i this film.
The Whiplash mk1 armor shredding Vanko's orange jumpsuit so that it drapes around his waist seems to be a nod to his original comic book costume

It's pretty much canon that the element is whatever the Tesseract is made of, but without the space-bending properties of the Infinity Stone. Howard must have developed it while trying to figure out how to use the Tesseract as an energy source, which we saw SHIELD doing.

I read somewhere that the element that Tony created was called Starkanium. It's a version of palladium but without the harmful effects. I dunno if this is true tho.

Ivan Vanko's whips remind me of other (russian) marvel villain: omega red (and I'm glad whiplash/blacklash and crymson dynamo was mentioned... also iron monger from the first movie is reminiscent of crymson dynamo as well)
Palladium is harmless/non-toxic to humans, btw - "no clear evidence indicates the element harms humans" (from wikipedia), so I duno why did Tony get poisoned by it :/
The use of the captain america’s shield means that, the material that is made out of the shield is the one that stark is “looking for”

It’s funny how it haven’t been noted in the movie or even talked about, but Tonys arc reactor, beams, etc, are of course powered by synthesized energy from the tesseract and thereby by extension giving Tony the power of a Infinity Stone. Wonder if Thanos will make a note on that during their fight in Infinity War.
