USING A £1500 SCAN TOOL TO FIX A £2 HEADLIGHT BULB !

- Please read in regards to the Ford ranger headlamp issue, Sometimes depending on the stage of fault occurrence the headlamp errors will not clear and would require either a new bcm or reading the d flash and manually fixing the data, In this case a fault code of U3000 is usually accompanied by U1000
If you are experiencing the same issue and it will not reset via a scan tool we can repair the file mobile around Scotland
Cheers
Looking for the tools i used in my videos
My preferred choice of diagnostic tool

Another great episode I’ve been in the trade 49 years and this young man is teaching me a trick or two excellent work Bud.
Thanks for watching kevin i appreciate it 👍👍
Modern dumb arse unnecessary systems on modern vehicles. Glad I'm now finished and out of the trade. Fabulous to watch your methods and methodical diagnostics, always informative and a great watch..👌👌
FET's usage in automotive circuitry ; (FET) controls the width of a current path called the channel that is created by the voltage applied across the gate and source terminals. Changes in the channel width causes the drain-source resistance to change. Therefore, an FET is a voltage-driven device. That can lead you down a few rabbit holes if you don't have top of the range scan tools. Great video Ryan..
Yes. Field Effect Transistor
A big 👍 from me, every day is a school day even when you're older.
That Ranger gives me BMW 1 Series FRM short counter flash backs!
FORSCAN can perform most special functions on fords, have a look into really good(and cheap) for programming modules aswell as you can either download the asbuilt data or back it up from an original module, got me out a bind on various occasions
Great video, as always👌
I have Forescan Davy its great but rarely use it as the aftermarket options are quicker but it is good software to have and cheap!
I was at a newish bmw x3 tbh at needed a FET reset via topdon after a bulb blew and shorted the circuit, Difficult explaining this to a customer 🤣👍
i-Stop faults are usually a crap battery. Fit a fresh appropriate battery & clear codes. The Topdon Topscan pro - less than 200 quid - will do the Ranger headlight bulb, pretty sure. Once you get used to it (it takes getting used to) it's powerful for the price.
Modern cars ! Everything needs a scan tool . Grear video 👍
Good video ,you need a server connection on these for other resets including dpf and def fluid resets from about 2018-19 years on
Well done bud, great fix and great video. Thanks very much and have a smashing weekend
i tell you mate these dam new cars are definitely getting away from your normal diy days 🤪
Agreed Paul
Excellent.
Like the idea using the small battery !! Will save me dragging a power pack or 12 battery under vehicles 😂😂 also a lot of PSA vehicles need to reset faults or carry out battery reset once bulbs replaced 🙄
Great stuff again
Great vid. Your personal hotspot password was visible 7:25. If you’re using that password for anything else might be wise to change it!
Thanks alot Andrew for mentioning this, Fortunately its not a password i use 👍👍
Nice one Ryan
Great job 👏
Cars getting too intelligent for their own good
Agreed
Buzzing epb motor does not mean fault free mechanical part. Brake support/caliper could be siezed and throw a performance/range/position code. In your case, yes -wiring issue. Nice one! I have changed a few bcm’s on these rangers/mazda because of headlight issue. Most likely because of cheap light bulbs.
It's a good job we work for a fiver a day in our job 😂😂😂😂😂
Morning, I love your videos.
Maybe the NS headlight blowing trigged the FET fault which then disabled both Headlights.
Question :-
did both high and low beam were disabled due to the FET fault.
Thanks for watching and no only low beam 👍
Wht scan tool is tht and would you recommend the topdon phoenix xlink
This is the X link, Great tool for the money
Alright mate, I will need keep that in mind with the Mazda throwing up an engine management light, the wife has a (very clean) cx3 and she worries when lights come on. 😂
Any idea how I would disable the automatic door locks on a 2019 L200. Locks at a certain speed, does my head in 🤬
Nothing wrong with m12 batt for testing. I've used a power probe on these. No difference.
I love tech but to be honest this is bordering on ridiculous that basic lighting functions have been swept up into the controlled architecture. Maybe I am just a stupid old bastard.
Ridiculous to need an expensive scanner for this job
How did that Ford Ranger know its driver was disabled ? 😂😂
the tool saw a blue banner on a blue tool near the dash board and thought it was a blue badge
Once the bcm detects a short circuit it knows to shut the output off and set s code 👍
Got a range rover evoque 2015 with rear leds filled with water, both replaced but got that code for solid state driver and os light doest work on brake light and indicator anyone reset this got top of range autel but cant find function to reset.
Keep trying different search terms?
I havent done so on a newer range rover but have done plenty newer bmws for the above issue, Maybe worth a try on a different scan tool
Tyre looks quite flat on it too
I fail to see the benefit of electric parking brakes, just another complex point of failure. Last year I came across a broken down Renault stuck on a blind bend, so i suggested i towed the car to a safer place BUT due to total electric failure the parking brake could not be disengaged! dumb!
Electronic parking brake, pathetic.
