I like the fact that it has top grade Sellita movement inside. Easy and cheap to service. Reliable and durable at the same time.

Very well done review. However, if I am in an explosive decompression situation, my watch is the last of my concerns unless I need to know what time it is as I am sucked out of the plane with a glass of Champaign in hand.

I bought this watch 2 years ago and love it. Unfortunately there have been two incidents where I had to hand the watch back to IWC for repairs that one would assume would be covered under the warranty. Unfortunately the IWC customer service does not seem to value their customers and instead charges over 800 CHF both times to get the watch serviced claiming it has had outside damage to it. My only conclusion is that this product is not of the quality you would expect when you paying over 5K for a watch and the customer service is non existent. Will unfortunately never buy an IWC watch again and would recommend you to consider a different brand.

Kristoffer Johansson thanks for that- was eyeing this up Vs explorer as a 40th birthday watch but having previously had great customer service from Rolex and hearing this it’s helped make my decision 👍🏼👍🏼

thank you for this comment, I really value customer service, especially at this level, I was undecided between IWC and Ulysse Nardin, I definitely know what to choose now.

My brother used to work for aftersales from an Iwc importer. They are nice watches but not very durable. More often than not they break down on people.

What the hell. And my 40 year old seiko diver is still swimmable. I have always aspired for this watch. Now you’ve given me second thoughts.

Thanks for the review. Beautiful watch, I recently acquired one for myself and am enjoying it very much. I have just one caveat for those with larger wrists. On my 7 3/4" wrist I have to use the last adjustment hole in strap, and the end of the strap will barely tuck into the first loop. That's the only issue I've encountered, otherwise I'm in love with this piece (and I have a custom strap on order).

Beautiful watch, thanks for sharing. On a "funny" side note. If you're experiencing an explosive decompression on a plane, the last thing you'll be worried about is time😂
    But a cool feature nontheless.

I love this watch but 51mm lug to lug is nuts for a 40mm case size.

Indeed if they only change that i would buy it (and inhouse movement like the spitfire!)

It is long but this watch gets away with it, it's quite flat on the wrist, imo it's one of the best watches, it's very simple like the explorer and just gets better the longer you have it, not many watches have this quality.

When I got this, I didn’t think much of it. Then I read le petit prince . Now I’m disappointed that there wasn’t a brighter lume that would have reflected this character with the watch so much better rather than just a nice engraving.

I love that watch. I was going to get one. I tried one on, and it wore bigger than my Sub. Decided not to get it. It wears bigger than a 42mm Omega Speedmaster Pro on a leather strap.

That's what puts me off- well the movement at the price is not ideal either but if it had a smaller lug to lug I could probably ignore that

maybe longer but not bigger - it's a very slim watch at 11mm

You had me at Selitta a 100 buck movement. Like buying a Porsche with a 1.4L Ford Fiesta engine. Sure it will tick forever but you know what’s hiding under that pretty face. The misplaced date showcasing the too small movement. A swimnable watch yes, should you wish to destroy the leather strap. It’s a shame as this watch nearly gets the green light then fails. The ask is just too high for ‘entry level’ IWC.
