At the end of the day it's a very serious job but the boys balance professionalism and fun very well!
It’s so great that there’s such a healthy communication between these guys. Jobs like this can be pretty traumatic, so sometimes a good debrief is needed, and sometimes a good laugh is needed too!
@@franceskubiak9838 the almost 30 yrs my dad was a firefighter Everytime they had a bad call the Chief would always make sure he sat down and debriefs with them and made sure they could see the bright side of tragedies and it helps them so much. All places need that dynamic especially jobs that are dangerous and can have tragedies often

Maybe because he's paying them to do a job and not mess about. A bit of banter is all well and good but it appears these two don't learn and think getting caught is just part of the fun. They need to grow up a bit.

You gotta respect H for how he handle's these incidents when they arise. Upfront, straightforward, honest and to the point with Hoppo. You can also tell Hoppo is a great boss by the way his staff respect him and feel comfortable enough with him to go straight to him when they make mistakes.

You guys lost a great lifeguard when H retired. Unfortunately sometimes the only things people understand is directness. You guys put your lives on the line for these people who then laugh as if it was all a joke!

Yeah I miss H on the beach - I hope he's still around and surfing there though as he's pretty much at home in the water. But I agree.. sometimes people need to be told how flipping stupid they were. We've seen in the past how some idiots will just take a 'don't do that again' to mean 'let's do that again', as we've seen by people having to be rescued multiple times in the same day.

So much respect for these lifeguards. Aside from the fact that they save lives selflessly, they truly care for the members of their team and they genuinely care about what they do.
Being a lifeguard is definitely a choice, and the fact that they choose to do all the years of training and hardwork to be able to save lives is truly honorable.
One day ago, I accidentally clicked one bondi video and got immersed om it. Two days later, IM BINGE WATCHING EVERY EPISODE AVAILABLE ON YT. THIS SHOW IS ADDICTING 😭😂

Love Hoppo's attitude he respects his workers but let's them know what they've done wrong in a respectable manner.No wonder he is a head lifegaurd.I am sure Maxi and the other young man learnt their lesson because they made great lifegaurds.
I thought that Jesse getting in trouble for running over the rope was a bit harsh. It was a pure mistake.
I think his reasoning is if you're careless and make mistakes in other areas, what stops you making mistakes in life or death situations, making the wrong call in a rescue can and will kill people, so he has to be harsh

Harrison is a top young lad. From what we see he puts a huge effort in and has razer sharp eyesight for spotting issues unfolding. He also helped the cops take down the guy who didn't want to be arrested 1:1 by that solo cop. I know we have 10% of the big picture but I'd have him on my team any day.

Best hoppo moment imo was when he used the direction of the currents to get back with someone on the board, no paddling, he just knew the water that well he knew where to put the board to bring it back to shore, crazy
6:04 I was explaining to someone just the other day about how you need to make someone feel like they’d really be at a loss if you weren’t around. You have to go above just the basics of whatever position you’re in by doing extra, and doing needed things without being told. Whether it’s a job, relationship, or anything in life make yourself irreplaceable!

So far as I can determine my father was pure English blood but my Grandfather was Irish and my Grandmother German. My ex FIL was Australian, educated by correspondence courses and the monthly visit of a tutor. His father was a bush postman setting off on his horse for a two or three day round. My FIL joined the RAAF in WWII and flew as a Mid-Upper Gunner (MUG) in Lancaster bombers from North Killinghome. Whilst he 'hated' Englishmen he had no desire to return to the 'namby-pamby' country that Australia became after WWII.
As a young man I had a high regard for our straight-speaking Australian cousins! Employed by Waverly Council the Bondi Lifeguards have to comply to the standards set by ignorant civil servants. They have 'patients' and 'customers' and are required to be polite to those that disobey the sensible rules!
I have been a confident swimmer from age five and 'County Class' as a teenager. Life-Saving, as taught to me, can be hazardous to the rescuer!
Whilst the Bondi Lifeguards laugh off serious danger to their and others life, they very much need additional powers to arrest the worst miscreants and/or ban them from the beach.
I think H says what we all want to say (all = customer service workers)

I don't think what H did was that bad. Some people need to be woken up and I think H was trying to do that, he didn't mean any offense in what he said. I definitely think the people he saved learned a lesson from it, and won't be wanting to do it again.
