This is the problem with the internet, absolutely tear a comment apart and analyze it, this is simply MY opinion, she is strong and fit, and a realistic lifeguard, not the non muscular or smaller built potential model that we see on Baywatch and such. Not alot of real female lifeguards are shown or represented anywhere and we all assume they have long flowing hair and a small build. I never said skinny equals weak, but realistically tell me how a smaller built person will drag a human out of the water to the shore with ease. I shouldn't have to explain myself, my comment is my opinion, I was simply suprised because I have a similar body type to her and it's nice to see a confidence and strength put to it.

as a lifeguard in a much lower risk setting, just know a lot of lifeguards actually don't care and don't do their job to the best of their ability. but this girl, you can tell she cares.

So the sun actually does bleach and lighten your hair. It’s naturally a dark brown (look at her roots, that’s her natural color). But yeah, it is really pretty

Iris Stasiuk It is true that the woman in the video is fat. Why does it bother you so much that I mention this fact? I am not going to pretend that she is fit or in great shape. I doubt she'd have a problem with me pointing out that she is fat. It's not like it would be news to her. I am simply responding to the people who falsely claim that her rather rotund physical shape is something to aspire to. Obesity is neither healthy nor attractive. Unfortunately, it's very likely the case that she is not as effective at lifeguarding as stronger, more physically fit and more disciplined people could be. Beachgoers ought to be served by lifeguards who meet the most demanding physical requirements, not by overweight women. Hopefully, that is something we all can agree on. On that note of agreement, I wish you a great weekend!
Kellie Thomas You are being inappropriate. Just because you are having a hissy fit over someone telling the truth about the woman in the video being fat doesn't mean that you can harass me or anyone else.
when she didnt put sunscreen on as part of her morning routine i was getting worried! phew!
i was surprised by that too. usually you're supposed to apply sunscreen 20-30 mins before any exposure to sun, but in the video it showed her getting the equipment and boat out and then later putting sunscreen on.
still it surprises me that she puts such little amount, and only SPF 30. And only on her face. You can see that only around her eyes are really protected and untanned. Plus on a day off using only a sunscreen brush is not enough also, you get like only 10% of the advertised SPF on label. She should be more cautious with the sun protection.

@@Es3iya the rash guards she's wearing are usually rated SPF 30 or higher (even the white ones) and she did mention she wears some sort of leggings to protect her legs, though i'm sure not for all 10 hours in miami heat...

As a former lifeguard.. that racoon eye tan is a killer. You've gotta keep switching up styles of sunglasses. I also used to use a straight bronzer on my eyes and sides of my face which worked great to 'hide' the tan lines. On days off, I would just lay in the sun with lots of sunblocks and try to correct the face tan. Lifeguarding is the BEST.

Crazy how a woman can showcase her respectable, interesting job yet the first thing people comment on is her body and if it's up to their standards. Her body is none of your business. I’m a lifeguard as well and it’s not an easy job! Much respect for her! I work 10 hours a day 1 day per week off, for 3 months. And balance that with workout and people judging you just because you are a woman. Much respect.

@@TheSasunarucosplay Hi! Another Lifeguard here. It really depends on where you live/work! Beach lifeguards work year round, and some pool lifeguards work year round, it really just depends on the location! I worked at a pool that is open year round, but most of the guards there only worked there for the summer! As for the beach, because it is more of a public place, people can really go to the beach whenever they want, so they need lifeguards all seasons of the year!
Jonggie Hi there, I’m from Portugal and here you can get a job over the year, but like Rossy said it really depends on the area. As for me i work for 3 months every day ( these 3 months are the summer season with more people around the beach, more events, etc) so they need extra attention and then after that I study in University and have a part time. Thank you so much for the respect. We have a lot of complicated beaches here in my area, so thank you for the love.

No restrooms in the towers??? That's cruel. They deserve better facilities or at least a toilet ffs.
They usually just go a short distance to use the public bathrooms which are usually near the parking area, prob maybe 5 mins away. The towers are literally in the sand in the middle of the beach. There is no plumbing and pipes and running them out to the tower would be pointless and they'd destroy the beach.
Can you please do marine biologists next?? I think that would be very interesting :)

I loved watching this video. Glad you featured a non-celebrity. Wish some of the products were listed. My ex bf was a life guard too and their training process sounds very difficult. I have a lot of respect for them. Brittany has amazing skin despite being out in the hot sun etc. so much.

We are not treating our lifeguards right. This 10 hour workday schedule isn't sustainable. Half her tips are survival techniques. Those shifts need to be shorter, and it seems crazy that they don't have electricity of some kind in the towers.
Claire Pettie should be a 5 hour workdqy schedule. 10 hours is insane because she needs to be aware all time!
Claire Pettie She works 40 hours a week meaning it’s a 4 day on 3 day off schedule, same as for nurses in hospitals across the US . It’s actually a lot easier it’s only 2 hours more additional each work day and more time for rest.
@@justdecember That's what troubles me. I don't think it's okay that nurses have to work 12/hr shifts. (Nurse burnout statistics are a testament to how messed up the system is, not to mention how understaffed most hospitals are right now in the US.) I don't think it's okay for lifeguards to split their focus between surviving their environment and saving lives for 10/hr shifts, either. I'm not saying they shouldn't work a 40/hr week, but the job as she described it is inhumane. You know?
It's also almost always a minimum wage job- former lifeguard speaking.
The 10 hour, 4 day work week is becoming more popular. Even though it’s longer days, it’s (most of the time) much better because you get that extra day off.
The no bathroom/running water thing is BS though.
