  • Filmed 23rd June 2024, these are the memorial plaques mounted around the town with the names of loved ones who are no longer with us. There may be some additional plaques to be added when printed but this also shows the audience the beauty of our town with the vast amounts of colourful flowers that have been planted and with hanging baskets all around.

Thankyou so much for videoing the names , and lovely to see Alcester in all it's wonderful glory, Having lived in Spain for the last 17 years makes one appreciate the town I lived in since I was married and now retired. I loved everything about the Town the work that Mags Payne does and the volunteers that keep the baskets beautiful. Will be back for a couple of weeks Sept/Oct for a visit, so I hope the baskets will still be up for me to see them. Lyn Bootle xx

Many thanks for posting. Living up in the north this is a lovely way to see my home town and lovely tribute to my late parents. Thanks to all involved for their hard work and the upkeep..

Thank you for that wonderful video of the plaques. I was quite moved when my late family were on there. I left Alcester just after the war but have returned as often as I could when on leave from the Royal Navy. I still like to come back when I can and try to remember how it was and waiting outside the Regent Cinema hoping someone would take me in to see an “A” classification film. Happy days, thank you. Thanks for your message Derek, I wish I had been of the era when the town still had a cinema, unfortunately I wasn’t. My wife’s grandparents and aunty worked in the cinema and we had some great stories. If you’re not already a member Derek, find Just Alcester on Facebook. You might enjoy seeing the pictures and hearing the stories that are shared. Many thanks
