    So sad that he left too soon, what a great musician and song writer. We love his music and have listened to it for years. Thanks for this tour, we would have never seen it otherwise. (from Sandi)

    My wife and I (I'm from Dublin, she's from New York) visited earlier this year, 2018. It was a lovely experience. The whole area was deserted and it was eerily quiet. We were surprised by how...I don't want to say neglected, but you can see in this clip, it's MODEST...how MODEST the grave was. We were also struck by how close to the tree the grave is - how can you dig six feet down through those established roots? But we discovered Nick's and his parents' ASHES are buried there, not their bodies. It was so sad, seeing the dates of their respective dates, thinking how long his poor parents lived on after Nick's death. We put some lilies on his grave and, later that very same day, someone photographed the grave and put it on Find A Grave! So those lilies you see in that picture are from us. It was the very least we could do after a lifetime of pleasure listening to Nick's music. We had a look at Far Leys too, very near by. We'll go back again when we're both in the country.

    I went to Nick's grave a few years ago with my daughter. We were very touched by the simplicity. No fuss. Just like Nick was in life. What a tragedy he died so young and suffered with his depression. We must look after those we love who also suffer with this.

    My Dad and Nick’s Dad were cousins twice removed. I knew Nick and he was also my first ‘crush’. I was 17 when he died. I too had depression like Nick. I was also on the same meds. I survived and thrived. The same cannot be said about this lovely young man. So proud of him.❤️🎶🎼🎵

    What a brilliant idea to post this video! Thank you so much.
    Nick came from a very talented family. His sister Gabrielle is a very good actress and one of the most gorgeous women to have ever walked the planet.

    Thank you so much for that Orv Pibbs that was just like I'd paid a personal visit myself. It seemed so quiet, peaceful, melancholy and left alone, just like Nick would have wanted. Quiten your mind and fly, fly in your Northern Sky. Rest in Peace Beautiful Soul.

    Hoping to have a chance to go there next year when I visit England. Is it pretty easy to get there if you're traveling by bus from London? Thanks for the great vid!

    • @orvpibbs2905
      @orvpibbs2905  6 лет назад +14

      Dave, not sure about the bus getting to Tanworth In Arden. I have used the train though, going from Birmingham to London. And that is quite easy. Birmingham is about 30 minutes to Tanworth. Have a great time when you go, and by all means stop in for a meal and a pint at The Bell Inn. fab place. I also have several other vids on my site shot in Tanworth should you have an interest in seeing more. Also more on my Pibbs1 site, including live performances from the Nick Drake Gathering, I have been lucky enough to play at a few times.

      @@orvpibbs2905 We're headed there next month and I was wondering, after we make the train to Birmingham, what's the easiest way to Tanworth in Arden? Rent a car? Uber? Taxi? Thanks for any info

    • @orvpibbs2905
      @orvpibbs2905  5 лет назад +10

      Easiest way is just to take a taxi from Birmingham to Tanworth in Arden. Not cheap though. If you do not reserve one in advance, expect to pay around 40pounds or so. If you can spare the time, spending the night at The Bell Inn across from the church is well worth it. Inn only has 9 rooms, but staying in the village a night is magical. Also, don't forget to take a walk to Far Leys which is Nicks house where he grew up. It's a bout a block or so from the Village Hall. I envy your trip. have a great time

      I know this is probably too late but for anyone wanting to go Danzey Station is close by. If coming from London it would probably be best to go to Birmingham New Street and then from Birmingham Moor Street (a little walk from New Street) get a train to Danzey Station. It would be much cheaper than a taxi
