oh my god its laid out just like a bass guitar, each row is a 4th above the previous. i cant believe i never realized this before, this is a total game changer
Yep, that and the fact you can change the scales on the go while also being able to use more than one akai fire turn this into a performance instrument rly. Now that I think about it, I would love to see a band using only akai fire instead of instruments lol
you can technically already do this within FL studio, the fire just makes more available, but yeah it's super useful if you don't know the scales yourself.
Wow...thank you so much for this video. I just got the Fire, and I have been trying to figure out the colors and layout of not mode. I struggle with chords....this is a Godsend
When in note mode, you press down the select knob once and then just rotate it until you find a scale that you like. You can use grid buttons to shift the scale an octave up or down or you can hold down shift and and click grid left or right to move the scale one semitone up or down so you can play in d-minor for example.
@@ORACLEBALL Hey, yeah thats a great suggestion! Although, if you do that your keys will all play the same chord, just pitched to that key. It's not like there is a way you can map different chords to different keys like in maschine. But to be honest, I havent really played with it much, I would have to check it!
@@aftalyfe I've heard they are actually velocity sensitive but it hasn't been activated in FLS for some reason.. apparently with other daws and tricks you can get the velocity sensitivity yo work but yeah it doesn't work with fl studio
Hey how’s it going man... I’m currently having an issue and can use your help as I can’t seem to figure out why its happening. My Akai Fire only plays one note (C4) even when I’m in note mode. I try loading a stock VST like FL keys and I’m not able to play out a melody or chords because it playing “C4” of my Kick, Snare, Hat etc... Any idea how to fix this? Thanks for your help...
Hmm thats odd, are you sure that the channel with piano is selected? What exactly do you see when in note mode? Is the akai fire used as a generic controller maybe? Are any other controls working (volume, pan etc) I havent really run into a problem like that so Im running a guessing game here.
Ok so I did a bit of research, when you click options the three midi options should be enabled. Also when you go into your midi settings make sure that your omni preview channel is set to none (three dots) and see if that solves your problem.
Hey Brother next time you should use a piano sound if you're going to demonstrate chords and you should focus on showing the Akai fire more than anything else. That's what we're here to see
Hey bro, thank you for your comment! This was by no means a video to discuss professional chord progressions, more like an idea to use akai fire as a "cheat sheet" to come up with interesting chords without any music theory knowledge. As for the sound, I picked this because I love synthwave and I know a lot of people do. I didn't want to use a piano sound as I wanted to keep it as far away from music theory as possible, demonstrating how this can be a fun process. Hope you have a good day!

Holy crap I didn't know that.... I'm a guitar player so that is totally a game changer
They have this chord feature on my mpc, it helps out so much.
We need a script for a Kai fire to use in logic 👍🏼and maschine studio. That would be awesome!!
wow someone that actually use this. All other video's are tutorials. wish there were more.
Dope ! I ve been on the edge about this controller for a few months now i think this is the selling point that pushes me to buy.

I find the Fire to be fun to use
Buying mine tomorrow just looking at vids and this is awesome thanks brother
You are very much welcome!
Akai is fire I jus got 2 last week and I’ve been have a ball man I need to get another one for chords like yours 🎉

Yes this will be a great option for you
Nice video and a positive creative approach. Well done sir.
Thank you for the feedback!
I was waiting for someone to make a video about this..thanks...
I agree I have used this a lot
Great video bro
good information. but mix your voice louder than the synth parts please in your videos. hard to hear you, then instrument is too loud.
Thanks for the tip! This was actually straight from the camera microphone. I will use my studio mic for future videos 👍
Nice! Prevents writer's block.
Thanks for sharing this information.
Thank you for watching!
Thank you for making this!!!
Holy fuck thank you for making this video. I have no idea why it's so hard to find this information!!!@#!#!
Thank you for the feedback!
Question is HOW to turn into chord mode?
turn the big remote who is all the way up on the right
How can u change the keys? So that whenever u press the buttons, it is always in the same scale?

@@aftalyfe thanks for this!
Do you know if there is a chord mode? So that you can play chords easily by pushing 1 pad? Kind of like how the Ableton Push and Maschine MK has?
Unfortunately none that I'm aware of. Although you could make workarounds to be able to do that. I might make a video about that! ;)
You can do that via the piano roll and when you play one note, can be whatever chord you set it too

Aftalyfe Right, but you can make the piano roll a certain key if you want so that could help :)

How does the velocity sensitive pads feel when creating melodies? (I've heard that theyre not really velocity sensitive
Thats true, they are not. It would be cool if they were, but for me its not a vital feature, as I can just use a real MIDI keyboard for that.
i bought some velocity pads to replace the fire pads from deenahtz.com and dayummm now i can do velocity all day

Wow I thought I was watching the end scene in the movie Scarface
The more I try to understand how this work as a guitar, the less I see it. Can you explain please how this can be seen as the strings of the guitar?

Aftalyfe that was the issue indeed (the Omni preview channel) thanks for your help 🙏🏾
Killing me, that I can see a pop filter, hence knowing you have some decent microphone there, but can't hear your voice..
I know bro, I will work on the audio quality in the future videos :)
