This video made me feel like it may not be worth it, but seeing other videos from people who probably did read the manual makes me think it might actually be pretty useful
I just got mine and I'm loving it actually. Can't afford to get a Maschine atm but this works pretty nicely with my rig. I got the Akai Fire, works really well with my Apple Macbook Pro and is super easy to use on FL Studio.
I have two of these and have a lot of fun with them. In fact, on a recent stream in late early Fe 2022, I got a $500 donations from a viewer watching my weekly streams, in fact, these Akai Fire's have probably made me around $8,000 in stream donations over the past couple of years. I also have an Akai Force and few other things I love just as much. I didn't like this review, it just addresses the obvious and he leaves out all the other beautiful things one can do when you are faced with limitations, or have less to work with. Also, one can over come limitations with creativity.
Great video but no this device isn't worth it.. Pros : built-in scales, comes with FL Studio, omnichannel mode, cool design (if that's a thing), and portable! Cons: No delete button, no undo button (really image-line?), no note repeat, isn't fully integrated with their flagship plugins!, no device shortcuts (every flagship controller has these), the version of fl studio that comes with it only works if the controllers plugged in!, and NO VELOCITY SENSITIVE PADS???!!! Hope they will fix that next time. I recommend the Novation launchpad over this or Nektar Impact LX25+ Keyboard Controller... Both those have tighter integration..
@@musiciansfriend2 it only needs to be plugged in once every three months Also there IS and undo feature Also I have an impact lx 25 but use it for completely different things... I don't know why he said the impact has "more integration" than the fire? That'd bs even if you forget about the sequencer a(the main part)
love it for FL Studio but also for Ableton. With a script (that you can buy from a 3rd party) its perfectly suitable for Ableton as well, lol. im not kidding. its awesome for both especially at that price
Much of what you didn't know about this product could have been explained by reading the (very short) manual, and it would have been a MUCH more informative video. Or, you could have spent 13 minutes watching the complete overview video by In The Mix.
The Fire is what actually drove me to give FL Studio another shot (I hadn't used it since like Fruity Loops 4). I love my fire, but really only use it as a portable keyboard, the sequencer has little value without putting in more work than you would do with a mouse, the drum option doesn't work with VSTs unless I do some kind of special mapping for it (not worth it), and you can do so much more with just a mouse in FL Studio, that when you couple in missing buttons, it just easier to learn the short-cuts. Its a great keyboard to just keep in the back, but missing too much to be more than that. Oh, and I actually own (2) of them so I can stretch the sequencer, but while a great idea, it just fails to execute well.
Honestly it's just ok to me. It's best used for the browser in FL. Other than that I don't use it for much other than a transport and some navigation. I recently got a Maschine so I imagine I'll use it for just the things now. It's be more with the price IF it at least came with producer edition for another 50 maybe. Now having watched you use it I can see it being more useful than I make it but that'd take some time. It kinda shortcuts SOME of the FL workflow. I'll try to incorporate this more once I have Maschine more down.
just curious but do you really use all your equipment in your studio ? i mean like how many equipment you have that is just sitting ther not being touched for years?
Thank you very much for this, however I expected a much better video from you on this excellent controller. Also why do you do a review and did not take the time 4:46 ... to read the manual? Maybe you can do an update of how you use the controller and how it speeds up recording and organizing beats. I already saw Michael's review from 'In The Mix' and was kind of hoping to get more value out of yours, so maybe you still can. Still appreciate the effort taken in making this video and wishing you a great week.
This is actually perfect for me that it isn't velocity sensetive cause I always want all notes to be 78% for drums! Can an Akai MPD also record all notes at velocity 78%
Honestly I'm switching from FL to MPC. MPC Studio Black us about $300 and now comes with their fully featured MPC 2.0 DAW. I was watching some newer videos on new MPC software and paired with the studio black controller, I think it may just be simpler and more user friendly than FL. You can do almost everything from the controller. No having to remember hot keys and whatnot because all the buttons on the controller pretty much tells you what it does.
I have two questions, sir 1)Can I use any version of F.L. on this controller? 2) Can I use a Dell Vista laptop as my base? Thanks ahead of time for any help you can give me to these questions ❓💯
This shxt works in Ableton now too lol... Anyways much respect I love how hard you went to not sell out despite Image Line themselves giving you the controller you said nah I'm not about to do a song and dance with this shxt..#100
If you're going to make a video know the product well. Using words like "not sure","I do not know" then you really cannot give an expert review if not familiar with the product.
Hey how’s it going man... I’m currently having an issue and can use your help as I can’t seem to figure out why its happening. My Akai Fire only plays one note (C4) even when I’m in note mode. I try loading a stock VST like FL keys and I’m not able to play out a melody or chords because it playing “C4” of my Kick, Snare, Hat etc... Any idea how to fix this? Thanks in advance
I skimmed this video to see if there's any of you actually bothering to use the thing and there isn't. I'd say you wasted your time, but that would imply editing or planning of any sort.
seems to be a lack of people actually using the thing you're right... though as a controller its pretty straight forward. May upload a video of the beat making process with this thing on our channel.
What is the difference between the fire edition and the regular type? Ik, free updates but what version of fl does it come with, producer, signature, all plugins?
Please do a how to produce for berner type video, preferable in the vibe of Fam 1st! Great video btw been considering wether or not to get one and you just made my mind 😂
I have this and I'm really disappointed in it. I barely use it. Would have rather bought stand alone fruity or waited for the half price sale I saw earlier this year. Love FL but the device has room for improvement.
I personally always felt it would be better suited for relatively new users, who *haven't* already developed a comfortable workflow or are prepared to dedicate him/herself to learning a new workflow. It's probably not gonna add anything of value to those who are happy with their present workflow. 🤷
And Dug that's honestly why I purchased it. I used maschine previously, and currently, so I thought having some hardware would make me more comfortable with getting into FL. I just haven't found that to be the case. I would rather have had a higher version of FL instead of the hardware. I'm going to give it another shot after this video though. Game made it look fun some how
The akai fire is not worth it bruh lol its hella gimmicky I almost bought it til I came back to my senses 🤦🏾♂️ so glad I'm cooking my beats up with MASCHINE TUE MK3 IS A BEAST!!!

maschine is overrated, i have it, but fl studios plugins make it 1000× better and worth it
Lewis Rivers I wouldnt say maschine is overrated. Its workflow is godlike. Especially chopping samples. Sequencing patterns is a lil strenuous tho.
I just ordered one as well! Really stoked about this!
@@downtherabbitholewithtenne6030 I still love mine, I've made a lot of music on the Fire.
If your a sample based producer the maschine is a must have, but the akai fire is nothing compared to that

The controller is def worth it. I feel like a lot of the people that reviewed it didn't take the time to really play with it.
Hey btw did you read the manual?
Its dope ... I think that after you get used to using it vs mouse and keyboard. it really speeds up the workflow.
i see it as an "add on" controller only. when u combine it with a regular piano keyboard and a solid Mackie GUI its a nice add on for sequenzer only.
Imma buy this cause i can’t afford anything from native instruments or any other brand and i like how this not only functions, but also looks
Some devices it is pointless to share a review without reading the manual and getting to know the device first. This is one such device.

would be cool if you would test it a little bit before you are making a video how to handle it.
How can you give an accurate review if you dont master the council
CAN YOU USE THIS WITH OTHER DAW’s ?? LIKE LOGIC OR IS IT ONLY FL?
this man made a video using the controller wrong and titled it "is this thing even worth it"...bro what?🤣

It's good for certain things. I like using it for 808s
2022 the fire is fire!🔥🔥
If you really tap in and learn how to use it and use it as a controller it's a major time saver
Got the room dim to add hype to the light up keys 👍
Coming from Ableton Live and Push 2, this workflow looks limited to me.
You can do a lot with fruityloops
Here in Canada, it's $249. I would've wanted it price more to the Akai MPK Mini mk2; $129
You can use as midi for drums to.

I'm actually looking forward to getting this. It would be nice if it worked in FL studio 11.11.1 tho
So you expect me to watch this video, that is about this device. But you just admitted that you dont even read the manual, which tells me what ?
No one cares if you watch this video or not
Would this be suitable for a younger teen that wants to learn to put beats together etc?
hey i need help when i use 2 akai fire controllers they keep blinking on an off please help
does your UAD interface ever face problems with PC compatibility and bug out?
Ima definitely buy that controller. it would enhance my work flow.
Was this Akai designed with Sysex MMC commands? Are the parameters and buttons reassignable for other DAW’s?
FIRE is worth it for me so many different functions no drivers needed for use just the latest fl studio and go

I like that desk how much it run you?
