Wow, what a wonderful surprise to see this. Thank you so much for taking the time to analyse my song and for all the encouraging words, not only from yourself but the comments below. This has given me a much needed boost of morale to write the sequel. Much love to everyone here, cheers!
When I think I've heard it all . . . This was such a pleasant surprise Andy (and Geebz)! 1st I heard Pat Methany and his "Orchestrionics" just minutes ago, now this :D. I'm a HUGE Loomis fan as well, what a gorgeous combination of musics with the Metal core. Will be checking out more of your music :).
Dude get this shit on the road! The MPE stuff is rough and im gutted for you there. Id love to see you get another band together and get soke more stuff written and get out oj tour
Everything you write is so tasteful Andy, I preorder that album and I wasn’t disappointed, what a piece of catchy yet technical work! I can’t wait to see what’s coming next for you. Keep it up man
the solo here is from Jeff Loomis, probably one of the most gifted shredders out there (formerly of Nevermore, currently with Arch Enemy). Andy was up until a few months ago the principal guitarist and song writer for the amazing melodic death metal band Mors Principium Est. The piano I believe is Andy himself, in the studio music video for this, it shows him playing it anyways. If you dug this I'd urge you to check out the epic Chapter II by Jason Richardson which also features solo work from Jeff Loomis. But in this case everything is cranked up to 11. Immensely difficult song to play, the orchestrations are much more sweeping as well.
I also recommend for Geebz to checkout "Conquering Dystopia" with Jeff Loomis & Keith Merrow, pretty amazing. Including Jeff's solo albums and his astounding work with "Nevermore" and the late-great Warrel Dane on vocals.
@@mvunit3 I was just about to comment on Conquering Dystopia! Sorely underrated super band with a jaw dropping album. Alex Rudinger was the one that introduced me to the group with his drum play-throughs, and boy am I glad he did! If I had to pick a track for a reaction, and man is that hard, it'd have to be "Nuclear Justice"! Such a killer song that's definitely worth the time and recognition!
Andy is the one guitarist that makes me feel like I'm discovering the guitar all over again. Please check out "Berried Alive" Charles Caswell is mind blowing.
Andy Gillion was in a band called Mors Principium Est. He was recently kicked out of the band despite him being the main writer for them. A really shit situation. Hopefully he gets another band going soon
Yeah sounds like the other guy is a fucking idiot. His loss anyway. And mine because i really wanted to see MPE live and didnt get the chance. I reckon they'll end up splitting up altogether
Best MPE album, Andy era is by far "Down of 5th era". Something just have to be more metal than beautiful. Last 1 wasn't that good (Sry andy). Best songs with last MPE are just like this. It is great work but somehow I don't just put it on anymore. I'm listening bands like Bloodred hourglass and mors subita...recent, If I were you. Don't know but 2 their songs by name but it's fucking fun.
I fucking went to school with Andy Gillion. DOWNEND REPRESENT SIR! He is a VERY gifted musician, he did a 1 man cover of bohemian rhapsody and its phenomenal!
Yes! Andy's in my top 3! I was listening to Mors Principium Est in high school before he joined the band. Everything he writes is gold, pretty much wrote everything on their last album apparently. Listening to him inspired me to get back into music a couple years ago.
Awesome to see Andy get featured here! He is an amazing musician, composer and a great guy as well! Can't wait to hear what new material he'll come up with!
How do I double like? Seriously dude, I love it when you get really into these tracks. Legend. Excellent choice! P.S. Please, please have a look at VOLA. You will love it all!
Andy Gillion is a British multi--Instrumentalist, he was the former songwriter and lead guitarist of the melodic death metal band, Mors Principium Est.
OMG - this just made my day, week, month. Thanks for doing this Geebz. I really dig Andy's work. I've found that my taste in music is not typically on the pop charts. Patreon is a great way to directly support the artists and make sure they have time to devote to creating beautiful music like this. Mahalo Geebz. Mahalo.
Andy is a brilliant musician. Seen him live a number of times with Mors Principium Est. This is a powerhouse trio, with Samus on drums and Jeff on the guitar solo. Both musicians have been in a number of incredible projects. Can’t wait to hear more from Andy!!
Andy's album is one of the few masterpieces I found last year. I rarely call an album a masterpiece but this one is clearly one of them. (EDIT) He's the composer, mixer, producer, e.t.c... he does everything in mostly all of his songs but in this one he got featuring artists (66Samus on drums and Jeff Loomis for a solo). Cheers from Montréal, Canada
He MIXED AND MASTERED THIS? Jesus christ, what can this man not do? I just spent a frankly stupid amount of money on my dream headphones and system but the downside is that since they're so revealing a lot of mixes sound like garbage now but this album is just... perfect. Compared to something like Fleshgod which also has a lot of orchestral stuff Andy's record sounds much more clear, not too harsh at all, and just super enjoyable. To think that Andy composed everything, mixed everythnig, produced, recorded (other than I guess Samus' drums) is just MIND BOGGLING. I know I will come of as sounding like an elitist when I say this but 95% of headphones (all consumer headphones) are very smoothed over and "kind" to the mix so to speak, so if even it's not very well recorded, mixed or mastered it still sounds good. But when you have ones that reveal a shit ton of detail and for example don't smooth over the upper mids, you can easily tell just how harsh a lot of metal mixes are (especially the 3-4k range where guitar makes my ears bleed). I really, really hope this ends up working out for Andy. The whole MPE situation sucked but let's be honest we were there for Andy, his playing and his writing, not Ville. I'm sure plenty of people will pay attention to Andy's future releases :)
Jeff Loomis THE GOD! Please check out some of his stuff, whether is from his days in Nevermore, Arch Enemy, his solo albums or even his many collaborations with Keith Merrow (Conquering Dystopia), or Lost Symphony. Speaking of Keith Merrow he is very good as well. Alluvial is probably my favorite project of his. If you enjoy orchestral metal Lost Symphony is your go to hands down. They recently made 2 albums with Jeff on it as well as Marty Friedman and more. Very orchestral, very metal, sooo beautiful.
Andy is awesome! He composed and orchestrated all tracks on the album and it was co-produced with Thomas Johansson from The Panic Room in Stockholm. My favourite tracks on the album are Skyless and Black Lotus but all of them are amazing. It's a real masterpiece if you ask me :)
I love how it's "they" and "these guys" when it's all Andy. Everything is Andy. He's a musical magician. Check out his Christmas live stream. Top to bottom it's incredible.
I absolutely love what I call atmospheric instrumental metal, you've got to check out some of an endless sporadic discography it's also what I call gamer metal almost . It was actually their track impulse, that was on guitar hero 3 which I'm sure many people will know, that got me into instrumental metal..... mental if not react at least listen, well worth it 👌also check out tesseract instrumental versions of their albums, the timings are so twisted. Makes me visualize a gyroscopic sphere with undulating cogs all spinning different speeds like 3d spirograph with multiple disks 😳
@keyofgeebz you and @andygillion should do a Collab. He's got a big following on RUclips and a consistent creator! I know he'd love to talk through his process and passion!
This actually reminds me a bit of a band that you have reacted to already: Be'lakor! Their sophomore album "Stone's Reach" remains as one of my favorites ever on the Melodic Death Metal swathe of the immense Metal genre. There are parts of this song that actually bring me back to that great feeling that was listening to songs like "From Scythe to Sceptre" or "Venator", both strongly recommended to decompose BTW, even though I feel the entire album is worth a listen at the very least. Also, I will bother you again to please give "Marrow" from YOB a chance. Yes, it's an 18 minutes behemoth of a song but I remember it being named as one of the most important songs of its decade and I don't feel it has lost any strength since. It really is that good of a song. Thanks for the video!
Mors Principium Est next, please! More Andy - madness in their music, absolutely beautiful! (Andy was the composer/lead guitarist in that band until very recently)
I love Andy's work, I dig this metal instrumental style a lot (he was the guitarist for Mors Principium Est, a cool band that you can also check out if you got the time, besides the many others that the people are suggesting though, haha). More tracks from this album would be great! Have a awesome day man!
This kind of music is spread all over in Finland. Bands like Wintersun, Insomnium, Children of Bodom, Norther, Mors Principium Est (Andy Gillion was ex guitarist) and many more. You haven't checked the above mentioned bands enough. That's the reason you're finding this unique. I'm not saying this one is bad but classical influence was always with the Finish musicians. They translate best with guitar. And again amazing piece of work by Andy👍
When I first saw the title I thought you had done "Skyless" from the Canadian band Augury. However I am pleased that through this I have found a new artist, thank you Geebz.

Geebz after dark... It has a Christmas-y start to me. A cinematic/theatrical/classical tone to it. 12:33 totally 80's rift from a movie like lethal weapon, at night time.
I want to recommend the band Candiria for your channel. They're self-labeled as "urban fusion" and are just mind-blowing! Try their song "Constant velocity is as natural as being at rest" 🤘
One of the things I like to do with music is rethink how to rearrange the songs in my head to fit other genres. When listening I'll replace hard rock beats with a horn section, change it to a country or swing song or take a pop song to make it metal. A good example for a song I just recently got back into it listening to after a long time is Abba's "SOS". Drop the beat 2 octaves, switch the piano to a bass and when it hits the chorus go super heavy. As for the lyrics they have a mellon collie feel making it fit perfectly under doom metal.
Okay, so I'd like to start a petition to get some Daughters on this channel. Guest House, Ocean Song, Satan in the Wait, ya really can't go wrong. These are tracks I'd love to hear a Composers take on.
No disrespect but to me some sections sounds like they heavily inspired by (not to say almost directly taken from) Wintersun's Sons of Winter and Stars. Am I mistaken?
Please do a reaction to Black Midi! you will not be disappointed. I recommend the songs ''dethroned'' or ''of schlagenheim''. Hope you are well Geebz ✌
Let's keep emmmm coming Geebz. Btw, any Dream Theater recommendations that come through are highly recommend. But you know that I'm excited to have you get to VAST. Their track "Here" is stupendous
Yo Geebez, dear decomposer, I have a GREAT suggestion for you.. The song is " A little piece of Heaven " by the band Avenged Sevenfold, I think it would blow your socks off, I AM A 100% SURE of that.. Please, I beg you to Decompose that song.. Much love from Argentina...
I’m sorry but I watch your videos and the last live ones I don’t know why you didn’t play the videos with them I mean you say you don’t get payed so why do I see other channels doing what you are with videos and you are not. Just asking
Mike Dawes covering Somebody That I Used To Know live is amazing, he talks a bit at first, but the ensuing guitar mastery is so fantastic that it is quite frankly a little annoying… in the best way possible
Nice, again something that I have not heard. Stopped watching and whining stuff that are familiar and stuff that I already know that I dislike. Great that there's no singing, it might be good, but maybe not. Good choice to go without.

Andy is awesome! One the best to have entered the metal space in recent years. Already a living legend
Saw Andy live in Brisbane. What an amazing guitar player.

Berried Alive are great! Charles is just too good at what he does, please Geebz check out "heavy blanket" on RUclips, the playthrough.

Any berried alive song tbh. Charles Caswell is truly evolved.

If i remember correct i think Jeff Loomis contributed the guitarr solo.. Samus Paulicelli is playing drums
Jeff Loomis is a god.. I loved his playing in Nevermore, such a legendary band.
