Please please everyone but this Cavalex class 60 so I can get all of the Hornby class 60’s at a rock bottom price.
Only joking it looks a fine piece of kit, probably overpriced but what isn’t these days. Although the livery doesn’t really do it for me (Trainload coal is my bag)
I think we can all learn a lesson here. Do not pre order anything wait until it comes out wait for reviews etc.
    nice concise vid.

I know, video 3 is up for release later this evening. I have the DB RED Class 60 on order which is due for delivery later on in the year, march I believe. From watching the two videos so far it seems that it runs really well but there are build quality/quality control issues. Are you thinking of returning your loco for replacement or refund? I am kinda apprehensive about getting mine now after watching this.

      @outonroad 3 дня назад

There are no quality control issues at all. It's a little unfair to judge the model based on this one video.

Thank you for your comment, I imagine that these questions are on a few people's minds. These videos are purely to show my personal initial experiences with receiving this newly released Class 60. I do make any recommendations one way or the other, that is not my purpose here, it is entirely up to each individual to judge for themselves.
Video Part3, which details the cause of the coupling issue, will appear on YT imminently.
In my objective and considered opinion, I think that overall this is a fantastic model, with a superb sound file, lighting functions, incredible levels of detailing and usability. As it stands I intend to keep it rather than return it. After all, I am a hands on railway modeler, fully competent with the general associated maintenance required, and I have become accustomed to the hobby's seemingly continuous challenges! Pieces fall off is not ideal for sure, especially after spending nearly £300, but hopefully people will now be aware and prepared.
As Cav of Cavalex models communicated to me, there is a trade off, a balance between high levels of detail and the model's fragility.
So, inevitably It is up to the individual to decide for themselves where that balance lies in this case.
      Kind regards, Julian

@@theeventhorizon-valebridge9512Thanks for this reply. If you need any further help with the model do get in touch as we don't want you to have to put up with a loco that you may feel is defective in some way.

@outonroad You are so right mine is 100% perfect unlike Accurascales Deltic of which I have 3 with missing parts dropped off all over the place, Accurascale have sent me replacement parts Steps, Chainhangers, Horns, Corner steps, and numerous other parts, Ps NOTHING has fell off my Cavalex 60.

The coupling issue has not been evident on any of our sample locos and clears the coupling perfectly. There is a good 1mm tolerance allowed above the NEM pocket in the design. Can I please urge you to get in touch through our website to assess this? The NEM pocket nor parts falling off are an issue on any of the production models that we have had in our hands. Needless to say that with thousands of models being made there is always going to be the odd model that isn't 100%. However it has to be iterated that with the very fine detail that we add to our models there is always going to be a duty of care to avoid breaking off the fine mouldings. Whilst we endeavour to make our models as robust as possible we don't sacrifice detail for robustness. Given the choice between the two we will choose detail every time. Our USP is detail and accuracy and we cannot bend on that.

Hello Cav, thanks again for your correspondence. Since making my last videos, parts 1 and 2, I have looked further into the coupling issue in much greater detail and have discovered where I believe the problem lies. I will be posting a short update video, part 3, very soon which demonstrates this, with a close up camera view and verbal explanation. This I hope will help you identify and remedy the problem.
As for the balance of fragility against detail, I do absolutely understand where you're coming from. I am just giving you and others my experience, from which you can make your own judgements as to whether that balance works in the user's world. These are not static show models, but everyday layout runners and so they do need to be at a suitable level of resilience that reflects this reality.
Anyway Cav, I'm hope that my update video (part 3) will be uploaded online later this evening and will be helpful in assisting and informing you and other users.
      Kind regards, Julian

@theeventhorizon-valebridge9512 I understand your point of view however we have been taking these models to shows now in various guises for over a year now and haven't experienced any of the issues that you are pointing out. We have had hundreds of people at shows handling them and again none of these issues. The loco arrived with you in perfect condition as shown in your first video with no parts adrift during transport and as such passed QC just fine. As I have said, these are very detailed models and any separately fitted parts such as the compressors are going to be prone to damage if they are impacted or picked up using them. We always ensure to pick up or hold the model by substantial areas of the model not with finely detailed areas. If your model did not arrive with you in perfect condition then you need to contact Rails of Sheffield for a replacement as no model should arrive with you in less than perfect condition. As for the coupling, they are fine on all of our production samples so yours is an outlier and should be flagged again as a warranty claim if it effects the running of the locomotive.

@@outonroad Hello again Cav, Part 3 of my video is now live on YT and it shows the coupling issue in detail, I really hope this helps you identify what's wrong and aids a solution. Hopefully this occurrence is an isolated one.
I am fully aware of all the distance selling regulations and what any purchaser's consumer rights are, what condition the goods should be in and all matters regarding refunds and returns etc, thank you for your concern.
I will respond to you with the same reply I've already given to another viewer asking whether I'm intending to keep it or send it back. I fully intend to keep it, overall I think it's a great model. The currently known issues I've found on my particular model are well within my personal capability to solve, due to my railway modeling experience and technical electro-mechanical background.....I also know how to use glue! This may not be the case for other purchasers though....
My general expectation is for new things to work faultlessly and I take no pleasure in highlighting issues where they don't, but . hopefully this raises awareness and leads to continuous improvements.
Please try to view my videos positively and with objectivity. If they highlight issues found then embrace it with a wish to solve them for the future benefit of you and the customers. I am not there to slag off, overly praise to the heavens, make recommendations or issue advise to anyone on whether or not to buy one, I'm simply showing my experience and what happen with my purchase. People can decide for themselves.
I respect your products and innovations hugely and sincerely hope that Cavalex goes from strength to strength. This hobby's market needs thriving competition and yourselves and Accurascale seem to be raising the bar, so well done and thank you
      Kind regards, Julian.

Just get a nail file no problem its nothing, If you look at Sams trains most manufacturers have coupling probs, Also if you lift the model by the body small parts will not get broken.

This is not the best video to show off the sound file for this loco, it wasn't my purpose. There are other YT videos which do demonstrate this though.
I can say that I was very impressed with the sound file itself, although slightly less impressed by the new style ESU EM1 speaker fitted to this model. The previous version of the EM1 speaker, which Accurascale actually still use, referred to by them as the !Accurathrash", I feel was better, with a deeper bass response/tone. Overall though, the sounds are excellent and interactive with the loco's motion.
      Regards Julian

@maverick1243 The sound file was custom made from recordings of 60074 at Toton and sounds exactly as the locomotive did when we recorded it. We have also had two class 60 drivers working with us on the project and both of them are amazed at the reproduction of the sound so yes I would say that it sounds exactly like a class 60.
