Thank you for your comment. Most of the layout is still to do and the areas shown in these videos are unfinished, including the track ballasting and sleeper grime, but I'm getting there slowly.
Incredible layout. Back scenes are amazing. Particularly impressed with the high rise tower blocks and what looks like Arthur’s Seat to the left of them. Great to see some nature sprouting out of the ballast. Excellent work regards the retaining walls. Layout looks so realistic.
Thanks for your appreciation Al, most welcome. Yes I'll be releasing many more videos over the coming weeks and months as the layout evolves with further huge rakes. I'm concentrating on parts of the scenery currently. There's so much to do and most of the rolling stock still remains boxed up so there's plenty more to come! Regards Julian.
Lol...No, I'm the amateur and just bumbling along with my layout build. These Bachmann HHAs are occasionally popping up on eBay at more sensible prices now! Keep your eyes peeled! Regards, Julian
@@theeventhorizon-valebridge9512 yeah I got them between £30 and £35, I’ll add another six a later date but layout won’t have your expect Scale for few years yet. I do like how you run your loco’s at relative speed it gives an element of realism. You see many videos and it’s just someone playing with Hornby yours show a lot of thought has gone into it. I’ve subscribed and with follow, it made me chuckle because the last two freight loco’s I bought where class 66 and class 90 in Freightliner livery as you have. Keep up the good work.
Thank you very much, you're most kind. The layout is in its infancy with most of it still to do so there will be many more videos to come, welcome aboard.
Who said I can actually afford them! I picked them up secondhand in various batches of a few at a time generally. It's a stupidly expensive hobby, but I don't waste money on other vices which many do! Hopefully they'll keep their value as the RRPs increase.
Hi Julian - Although I subbed to you awhile back for some unknown reason I never watched all your updates which I am correcting now. I think Valebridge is an awesome layout especially as I am not a big fan of the modern era. I think what attracts me to yours is the really long rakes which sadly most people dont have the room for. I also love the variety you show on your layout. The scenery is wonderful and all through the updates I am trying to get a better grip of the rooms it is in. You have a very thick what looks like a rubber track bed, all I will be using when I eventually get going is Woodland Scenics N Gauge Track Bed. Will you be showing any of the build right from the start along with a track plan? You should have ten times more subscribers than 273. Regards Chris
Thanks Chris, I'm sure that over time more people will subscribe, especially as I complete more of the layout and start to release proper running sessions. It's all just bits and pieces at the moment, with a jumble of trains out on the layout for testing purposes as the build continues. As for a track plan.....Well it's an adaptation from the previous single room sized layout into a second room so it's been made up on the hoof as it's expanded! There's an awful lot of the lower level covered up by the upper level. If I were to start again from scratch I certainly wouldn't do it as it is now! Hey ho, it will do for the time being as I don't yet fancy rebuilding it! The track underlay is cut width-wise from a 15m x 1m roll of self adhesive (sticky backed) foam flooring underlay. It's around 4mm or 5mm thick. This gives convenient 1m long strips to work with. I think the roll was around £60 and it has done the entire layout! I believe it's the same type of foam as the purpose made track bed foams, just when bought and cut from a roll like this it's a fraction of the cost! I must have cut three or four hundred 1m long strips from it. I think the overall layout will reveal itself more in future videos. I'm still muddling through what to do with the station and town areas so it's still rather messy and work in progress. Even the already featured areas still require detailing properly. As they say, a layout is never really finished! Regards Julian
Thank you. Most of the layout is still to do! The gantries were bought on eBay from a seller called Torri laser. They require assembly, gluing, painting and are a little fiddly and fragile too so caution is needed! They also sell other various laser cut items for model railways including railings and bridges. Regards Julian.
Great!
From the scenery to track to stock, impressive all round 👍👏🏻

I love the full length coal train very impressive, its down to us modelers to keep the rare coal trains alive for generations to see
Just popped up on my feed, like and subscribed. Nice layout and stock.
Thank you very much, appreciated. Regards Julian

Just stumbled over this and I got to say it’s certainly one of the most impressive layouts I seen. I’ve subscribed

How can you afford that many ? They're about £40 each !!

Very impressive layout. The overhead line gantries are awesome, where did you get those from please??
