- It’s almost time to day goodbye to a legend.
First though, we’ve got one last bush bash planned for our long-term 2016 Land Rover Discovery SDV6. As such, we have to slog our way out of the city. The harsh reality for all 4WD fans who live anywhere near a major city in Australia is readily apparent. There’s plenty of sealed surfaces that need to be accounted for, before you get to your favoured terrain - dirt/mud/sand whatever your poison. Beyond that threshold, there’s proper 4WDing to be had of course, but there’s a lot of sealed road driving before you get there.

Such a superb family vehicle too. After 2 years I’m now averaging 7.5L/100kms driving from the mountains into Sydney and back, quietly, very comfortably, reliably too. Best vehicle I’ve ever driven over long distances, and I can get my touring drum kit and whole family in it, week in, week out.
Beautiful vehicle. The last real 4x4 they made.
Love my Disco 4 - just does it all
The only problem I have with my land rover compared to the jeeps and the Toyota I have had is the Land Rover just feels too nice to drive in such rough conditions. Otherwise its the best off road vehicle I have owned and driven.Just point and go.
I could never imagine mine getting that dirty,I only take her out when the weather is dry.I have another other car for wet days.
Land rover discovery is very good car
The best land rover discovery :)
I love my discovery 4
It actually did touch at the middle of the car. Thank god for the dirt track.
yeah i was thinking someone ever noticed that.
Queen of cars :-) What it does lack though are manually lockable differentials, and even accepting the automatic version of them, the central is standard, the rear is optional and the front is not there, neither as an option.
The petrol version has the rear diff standard though. Oh wait, subaru's all have a rear lsd and central too... weird that a proper off road delegates to electronics the front diff function.
This said this is my fav car ever. Superb off road stock even with the ridiculous 19" wheels (LR won't allow 18" due to the larger calipers in the post 2010 4 version), great on road. Mind you, it still is a 3 ton beast and driving it you must be careful not to forget about the weight that the engine conceals so well.
Consumptions are nowhere near the declared figures - being around 12l/100km.
And do remove the EGR automatic opening and the car-fraud-of-the-century DPF filter, they make the car respectively smoky and choked..
One last notice to wannabe buyers - this vehicle is expensive to operate, and the diesel is not the issue. Turbo covers, compressor, suspension's compressor, all sorts of small things that occasionally break... you got to love your car and be able to show this love with big bills - and you need a specialist even for a simple oil change, this vehicle needs willing experts and dedicated tools to be serviced - consider removing the cabin is necessary for somejobs, since the engine is connected to the ladder-like frame and not to the car body...
Agreed, this is the last of it's kind - and unique / irreplaced by others. While the G Mercedes is better for it's 3 manual lockable differentials, the rest of the experience is crap compared to this one. Plus the price skyrocketed since it's now a status symbol...
Nice car 👍
Great car to drive but let down by to many expensive component failures.
Swapped my 21 Defender P400 X for a 2016 D4 Landmark (by choice) and even with the less modern tech in the D4 I much prefer it 🤓😎👍
The disco will take you anywhere a stock toyo, Nissan or jeep can - in more comfort.
This is a real 4x4 /// the last of his kind... the new Disco is nothing vs this one
They are awesome if you own one under a full warranty. The engines are problematic at higher miles and these are a nightmare to repair.
You all forgot the Lexus gx460
The new one is very ugly looking especially the rear
i dont understand why this particular model depreciate much less than all the other land rover models
Sounds like an advertising for the Discovery
nice advertisement for landrover.. problem is you dont know if you can believe car journos these days.. they dont criticize anything about it so makes you wonder if they paid to give a glowing review rather than an unbiased one. i can think of a couple off the top of my head, one being removing the spare wheel from an easy access location like the back door to a ridiculous location underneath the car. and articulation? what articulation? i had to laugh at that. it's got the flex of a house brick. i wouldnt mind upgrading from my 2003 4.6 V8 landrover discovery but meh.. i cant seem to find anyone who makes the perfect 4x4. it seems like they all put far too much focus on technology rather than reliability and capability these days. how many of these modern cars will we see driving around in 40years with no issues like we see with something like a 60 series landcrusier. my guess is not very many, if any. once these over the top technology driven 4x4's get old they will probably spend more time in limp mode than offroad.
Yet it's pretty common to see the bogged down to the axles. I've seen plenty snatched out by even Grand Cherokees.!
is the v6 on this suv decent?
Buying this
Ótimo vídeo!
mine is 2016 black edition, lotsa hp, torque , so good on road too
Love your voice
i wonder how they perform when they dont have the optional e-diff. can anyone comment?
Honestly there's not too much of a difference, either way with or without the ediff they are insane ofroad🤘
Did anyone count the no. Of times he said the word 'particularly'???
Reuben Braganza not particularly, no
I wonder what the reliability will be like?
Very reliable. 5 years no problems at all !
Christos Papathanasiou for real ? No problem with the suspensions?
I want to get a 2015, but the reliability is the only thing holding me back.
I've had the 2015 (MY16) since new and it hasn't missed a beat. Just threw some goodyear duratracs on and it's unstoppable
Feint get a 2016 model
need one cool dunhill owner help

You know what they say... If you wanna get to the end of the world, take a Land Rover... But if you want to get to the end of the world and back, take a Toyota ;-)
I'd rather take a boat personally. Boat's are prettier than Toyota's.
Edward Cosic hahahahaha agreed!
Mike B so truth!!
Edward Cosic yes so true , I like Land Rover's but would probably buy a Landcruiser instead.
You know what they (Toyota girlymen) say..... 1. Typically they can't afford one, and therefore have no experience with LR 2. They are insecure, knowing that Toyota has made absolutely no innovations over the past 25 years, and yet still charge you a premium, IE willingly getting shafted up the arse. - I think they enjoy it.
How is range Rover allow to sell such a piece of sh*t to people
It's Land Rover. Range Rover is a Land Rover product. You need to drive one before commenting right?
