I wasn't a huge Limp Bizkit fan as a teen, but after seeing his Lollapalooza performance, then him dropping dad vibes, I started liking him more and more. He's owning his age, he's owning being a dad, he's not on drugs neglecting his family, he seems to be taking care of himself, he genuinely seems like a good dude. I hope his success continues in the years to come. Haters gonna hate.

He was the last person to leave the stage because he was throwing at the audience on the front of the stage the rest of their Fiji water bottles. I still have mine. When limp blew up people treated him like a king, interscope made him vp and told him to shape rock music however he wanted. It was then that the jealousy started and msm started turning on him. As you said some lyrics are based on how these guys hate bullies, but somethimes they jump the otherside without even realizing it. Humans are aggressive by nature. As long as nobody get hurt it should sort of ok for everyone. People needs to grow some balls and don't waste time crying.
What people don't get here is: Fred Durst is not very different from the Zlatan Ibrahimovic kinda guy.
I enjoyed Limp Bizkit for the style the adrenaline, the primitive instincts they pulled out of me but I didn't bullied anyone in the process. For me it was all about the feeling, the confidence boost their music gave to me.

Established bands hated when Limp found fame with their style. Everyone had some type of a chip on their shoulder due to feeling some type of way about this little band with no ego coming and sounding like Nu Metal gods all of a sudden. People don't like change or anything that goes against the grain. Fred took much of that on the chin and kept moving forward. Limp will have a place within Rock history whether people like it or not.

The exact same thing happened in Ireland recently when a rap group called Versatile took off. Irish hip hop struggled to become mainstream in the eyes of the Irish public and then these guys come along and storm the place. The media was shocked by it because we’d never had anything like it before. And they were set for stardom after a collaboration with Coolio.
But the amount of bitterness among the Irish Hip Hop community was fierce; bare in mind, Versatile are completely independent, whereas about 60% of our rappers are tax-payer funded through the Irish Arts Council, and they would have ticked all the boxes but still not reach the acclaim Versatile did. And when they managed to sell out Ireland’s biggest indoor arena, folks came after them for the lyrics of one of their songs, then tried to cancel them for every ism known to man, even going so far as to misrepresent facts and exaggerate stories. In the end, they persevered. Their debut album Fuck Versatile (named after one of the two hashtags on Twitter against them) shot to Number 1 on iTunes, beating Madonna and Pink. Covid fucked up their tour for that album, but they still got a good Arena concert and sold it out again. More recently, they just finished a semi world tour with Snoop Dogg. Fairly sure they’ve another album coming. They’re completely independent, and after the bullshit controversy, the media would no longer report on them, which meant a major drop in views and streams. These guys also shined a light on Irish hip hop and managed to earn public interest which then led to tax-payer funded artists. Yet Versatile are still doing better than most Irish artists have.

DUUUUUUDE!!! This comment made me go back through my 2000’s catalogue, and rediscover the hidden Eminem/Limp Bizkit beef, all to find a specific Verse related to this topic. Which can be heard in Em’s debut hit “The Real Slim Shady”
Specifically the second verse, which starts after the first chorus.
      Lyrics are as Follows:
“Will Smith don't gotta cuss in his raps to sell records
Well, I do, so fuck him and fuck you too
You think I give a damn about a Grammy?
Half of you critics can't even stomach me, let alone stand me
"But Slim, what if you win, wouldn't it be weird?"
Why, so you guys could just lie to get me here?
So you can sit me here next to Britney Spears?
Shit, Christina Aguilera better switch me chairs
So I can sit next to Carson Daly and Fred Durst
And hear 'em argue over who she gave head to first
Little bitch put me on blast on MTV
"Yeah, he's cute, but I think he's married to Kim, hee-hee"
I should download her audio on MP3
And show the whole world how you gave Eminem VD (ah)”
It seems like Fred and Em used to be cool at this point when this song came out. Eminem and Dr. Dre are even in Limp Bizkit’s: Break Stuff, music video.
But on the following debut song on Eminem’s Second album; Without Me, Em throws a jab at Limp Bizkit in a verse near the end of the song.
      Lyrics are as follows:
“A-tisket a-tasket, I go tit for tat with
Anybody who's talkin' this shit that shit
Chris Kirkpatrick, you can get your ass kicked
Worse than them little Limp Bizkit bastards
And Moby? You can get stomped by Obie
You 36-year-old bald headed fag, blow me
You don't know me, you're too old, let go
It's over, nobody listen to techno”
Apparently this fued started because LB’s Dj Lethal saying Em would get beat-up by Everlast…
Also that bit that last bit about Moby, brought back my memory of watching the VMA’s and Eminem low-key threatening Moby live, on-stage at the awards ceremony… ahh times where good.
But anyways, thank you for that sweet hit of Nostalgia, i probably otherwise would have never thought about again, ever.

Fred is the type of guy to lean into the flames, and feed the fire and eat up the negative publicity, because he knows, there’s truly no such thing as bad publicity. He plays off that. Plays off the whole “ I have the worst band in the world” thing and rubs it in your face and yet sold out shows and is still touring today. Just how “everyone hates Nickelback”, but they’re really a great band who still makes records and tours, it’s a similar effect for LP, and Fred in particular.

I was never a hardcore fan of Rap & Roll Music (Numetal) but I have mad respect for Fred. He actuallyw rote something pretty significant in the significant other album's booklet at the very end and it reads:
“I think the key is to realize that life is temporary and spending life questioning life is a waste of time.”
    He also said:
“To walk around with an ego is a bad thing. To have confidence in yourself is a great thing.”
the above quote sumarizes the diference between the jerks that attack him for his confidence and Fred himself.

What I’ll say about Durst is that, early on, he was really humble
I first saw them here in Glasgow when they supported Korn in what would’ve been their first tour, promoting Three Dollar Bill$, Y’All and after they’d finished an amazing set, Durst came into the crowd to watch Korn. He seemed a little overwhelmed at first but was really awesome and spoke to everyone. I’m 6’4 so helped part some of the crowd for him. He gave me a huge hug and thanked me. He stood quite near me for most of Korn so we chatted on and off and he really was an amazing guy
I think seeing how quickly he was overwhelmed by the support, I’m not surprised that he became a bit of an asshole. The game came hard and it probably helped him deal with it.

Back in 1999, the radio group I was working for engineered a series of multi band concerts associated with their various stations/formats, and for the concert put on by the active rock station, Limp Bizkit headlined. One of the sponsors was Daewoo, and one of their cars was parked near the stage. Durst thought it would be fun to repeatedly jump on the car and ruin the exterior. The company who owned the stations had to give Daewoo a ton of comps (among other things) to make up for the wrecked vehicle. Told me everything I needed to know about Durst at the time. Hopefully he's grown up since then.

Thats what Daewoo gets for placing that sissy ass car outside a rock venue. And the venue that got Daewoo as a sponsor should have known better. Daewoo would be more a appropriate spomsor for a Lisa Lobe or Cheryl Crow crowd. Lmao

Fred seems like a genuinely awesome dude. I know most ppl think he's some kind of douchebag, but he's totally not. That's just the image he craftily cultivated. Most ppl who meet him say he's really chill.

I have a friend who used to get all of the Rockstar Autographs and photos with them etc. , He came across Durst in Auckland airport, Fred was carrying an armload of stuff, he still gave the autograph, dropped all of his shit on the floor in doing it and was still quite happy about the whole affair, Durst is a good C##t, and they're super heavy Live 🤟

Limp Bizkit rules. Every member is amazing and their producers and sound engineers for Significant Other worked until there was nothing left to polish. That album was so raw yet so well produced. The Unquestionable truth paid beautiful homage to Rage Against the Machine. The hate for Limp Bizkit is like the hate for Nickelback. They're just hated for popularity sake.
