I listen to audiobooks while reading physical book. Synchronisation is really well and it helps to keep more focus while reading. Also, books can be completed faster by this method.
So I’m trying this out and I really like it so I was wondering if you use audible, and if so is it worth the paying the premium or whatever for it to use it that way?

I enjoy both ways, physically reading a book and listening to one. I wish we had more time during the day to sit down and read books. It's nice to play audiobooks out loud when I'm cleaning or cooking. I learn a whole lot more from physically reading a book than listening to one
What helps me the most is putting the audio book on 2x Speed while reading along the actual book or kindle version. And the absolute game changer: read a book multiple times (only if it’s great! 😊)
@@SamuelPeifferOfficial It is such an amazing book. I love the way James puts a summary at the end of each part of the Book. I could never get into audiobooks, but after watching some Jim Kwik webinars & videos from your channel, I gave it a try. I've found that walking or some driving (I drive my dog around the neighborhood, so it's slow and little traffic) is the best time for it. I've consumed >65 books in the last year and what it allows me to do is listen to multiple books on similar subjects and I get the material and insight from different authors from different angles. This gives me examples and sparks new thoughts over time. I, too, progressed from 1x to 1.8-2x speed and find that a nice sweet spot for getting the content and not feeling like it is dragging. I will stop walking and take notes either a quick typed up note or dictate into my phone using Google/Alexa ("take a note"). I can now speak in some detail about the topics I've been listening to with a good deal of confidence. I was not expecting this going into the experiment. For me, I'm 95% non-fiction and the works are mostly focused on self-help, productivity, psychology & human behavior. While many have lists & information that is great for reference, I have chosen to subscribe to Shortform for more detailed notes. These, I can listen back to as a refresher. I am shocked at the positive impact this has had on me and would recommend anyone toying with the idea to give it a try. You can find lots of audio books on youtube, or use apps from your local library to start out so you don't have to subscribe to Audible. That would give you more time w/no cost to give it a fair shake (at least 2 months because it's a hard habit to get into). If you are constantly listening to material and thinking of how you can apply it, it will start to change the way you think. I've found my favorite works are read by the authors. While there are some really great narrators, I feel a better connection knowing that these are their words and their voice. That said - I love Peter Coyote's readings of The Four Agreements/The Fifth Agreement.

I disagree with the point made about speed at the beginning, I read much much faster than listen. It's true for the vast majority of the people. I still love audiobooks but if it's a non-fiction book that you're reading to gather information or learn something, actual reading it far more productive.
For me, it depends on who the narrator is. I've had audiobooks that I just can't get on with because of the voice. Sounds petty, but I think it makes a lot of difference to whether you continue to listen or not.
Ali… why do you only read modern NYT times best seller? Or do you just use them for thumbnail? You are smart, you should read the classical literature/canonical texts, philosophy books, religion books, and just grapple with more stuff that is more fruitful. Some recommendations I think you may enjoy is: Securities Analysis by Benjamin Graham, Faust by Goethe or Maxims and Reflections or his autobiography, then I would visit essays from Schopenhauer, then writings from Whitehead. You can go any route you’d like but, here is some of my recommendations.
I tried to get info from audiobooks, but I just noticed I have much better info retention from a physical book than listening to it maybe since I'm more visual memory, and it also depends on and who is narrating the book, so I mostly choose fiction, entertainment and general knowledge reading to audiobook and study/deep learning on physical/digital format
Since you bring up the point... I often watch english spoken youtube videos at 1.25-1.5x speed, but wonder if you upload them already accelerated or if you just think and speak very very fast :D

I listen to audio books while driving, but always worry about missing out on my 'highlights' that I want to retain to remember!
0:43 i'm rolling with you taking notes from twightlight 🤣🤣
I tried to get info from audiobooks, but I just noticed I have much better info retention from a physical book than listening to it maybe since I'm more visual memory, and it also depends on and who is narrating the book, so I mostly choose fiction, entertainment and general knowledge reading to audiobook and study/deep learning on physical/digital format
Since you bring up the point... I often watch english spoken youtube videos at 1.25-1.5x speed, but wonder if you upload them already accelerated or if you just think and speak very very fast :D
