I bought a remote servo from mgb hive for my ford zephyr to improve the feel of the drums, I need to make a bracket for it to work on mine but getting conflicting information on what way it goes like you had
There’s 2 schools of thought on this subject both are correct in their respective positions but longer term the diaphragm is upside although this is not how they were originally intended
@@IconicBrands123 I just spoke to a guy on the mg facebook group, he said it needs to be up for 2 reasons, he said it will be very hard to bleed with it facing down and moisture will sit in it and corrode, i’ll just do it facing up and go with it
Hi, great video. I've just bought a new servo and my instructions show It fitted upside down with the air filter upside down and the worded instructions instruct to fit upside down !
You’re in the same dilemma I faced hence the video was produced to help out, although the information on the instructions of installation is with air facing down everyone from the mg owners club to when I rang Mgb hive? is facing upwards !!! Choice is yours my friend
@@daveyoung8862 it will fit better upside down!! the one I removed was in fact upside down but the brake fluid had corroded from inside the white air intake valve!! However it did work until leak , good luck and thanks for subscribing
Classic case of wrong information being shared on social media. The instructions call for it to be mounted with the air valve downwards it because with it uppermost, there is air trapped in it. Anyone who has looked at the sectional view should be able to work it out. But I have read that it is difficult to find enough space on the MGB, although your original fitter found a way to do it.
Hi Bernie this was exactly the same reason I posted this video because of the ambiguity of fitment with differing opinions hopefully you learned something and thanks for sharing your thoughts
Hi, was it easy to replace the old one? as I need to replace my 10 year old Chinese one that is failing, and so will get an OE Lockheed unit.. I heard some years ago, think that if fitted with the air valve at the bottom it makes it easier to bleed brakes?
Hi Dave , the natural position of the unit is with the unit facing downwards. However, over time it has been proven that this can cause corrosion of the air valve. It’s more difficult to fit with the air valve facing upwards. I had to alter the brackets I believe that it’s more difficult to bleed the brakes in the upper position as well most people tend to fit the unit upwards but really the choice is down to you. It is easier downwards and I think the black breaks would be easier to bleed. However from the video you can see the way I chose to do it. Thanks for your comments, always great to hear from people that enjoy my channel.
Sorry, but video showed nothing. Just a bunch of word salad. Is it too much to ask to actually show the work you are talking about? I found a worthwhile video of physically doing the work on the MG after some research..🙄

@riderzinc that’s what I did and made a bracket to suit
Good luck and please subscribe it helps the channel big time
Can't believe that instructions, in this day and age, are sent out to fit the item upside down! Australian company, is it?

Thanks for watching iconic Brands, yes it is puzzling as to why !!!
@@IconicBrands123 I've inquired to mgbhive who I bought it off and they assure me the instructions are correct.

@@IconicBrands123 Yes , I went to a CLASSIC CAR show at the weekend and they were all facing upwards. Do you know if it matters the other way round?

What sort of a job is it to do?
Hi Gary, the servo amplifies the brakes makes it easier to stop the car

Did you fit the actuator with the diaphragm facing up or down ?
