DEOSAI NATIONAL PARK & RAMA LAKE ROAD TRIP! Skardu to Hunza | Pakistan Vlog 3

- From Skardu we wanted to travel to Hunza in Northern Pakistan! There is a direct road between Hunza and Skardu but during the end of 2019 that is being rebuilt so it's a better and faster road. That means that there are a lot of roadworks happening and the very friendly local Pakistani people told us not to take that route.
Tourists are generally not allowed to hire a car themselves in Pakistan so we hired a jeep and driver to take us from Skardu to Hunza the scenic way, what we didn't realise is how scenic it would be!
We drove through Deosai National Park and Deosai Plains and because it was getting into winter and it's very high we were greeted by snow in Pakistan! Mid morning we stopped at a tea house to warm up with chai and local Pakistani food. The food was delicious but the men who worked in the tea houses were the highlight as they were so friendly and welcoming. I loved driving through the villages and seeing local life. We also realised that because the droves are so bumpy and windy it was good that we had a driver!
We decided to stay near Astore so we were close to Rama Lake that night and found Wazir Guest House which is a basic but nice hotel near Rama Lake. The next morning we drove and walked to Rama Lake which was one of my Pakistan highlights as it was beautiful and totally empty!
We were meant to go to the fairy meadows after Rama Lake instead of going North to Hunza first but we would have been rushing trying to walk to the Fairy Meadows that day so instead we drove straight to Karimabad in Hunza!

In Indian culture there's athiti devo bhava, guest is God idea. May be mullahs of Pakistan liked it and changed it to blessing of Allah.

Absolutely loved the video, Deosai (translates: Land of Giants) is one of the best places to do stargazing and it is the 2nd highest pleateu of the world (after Tibet) absolutely stunning in summer. BTW about Nanga Parbat, it is the 9th Highest Mountain of the world (2nd Highest in Pakistan) also considered the most difficult to ascent (mortality rate of 23%), its funny how these giants are so easily accessible (comparatively) in Pakistan so hard to belive these facts. Nanga Parbat has tremendous vertical relief over local terrain in all directions, to the south, Nanga Parbat has what is often referred to as the highest mountain face in the world: the Rupal Face rises 4,600 m (15,090 ft) above its base.
