Armed police officer shuts down tourists heckling King's Guard

- An armed Metropolitan Police officer has been forced to step in and shut down a group of tourists who had been heckling a British soldier standing guard in London.
A video posted on social media site TikTok appears to show a group of American tourists filming the soldier and shouting out names, hoping to get a reaction from the Household Cavalry trooper who was standing guard.
Throughout the encounter, the cavalryman was calm and professional, remaining at ease with his sword in hand and giving no reaction to their jeers.

Agree
The officer handled the situation well, and there's no need to involve 'parenting.' Young adults naturally make mistakes as they experience freedom-haven't we all done something 'wild' or dumb during our youth.
These individuals likely come from a republic and may not fully grasp the significance of the King's Guard or our traditions. That’s why armed police are there to explain and maintain order, as the officer in this clip did effectively.
This hardly seems like a serious issue-they complied, so what's the problem? Let's reserve blame for when it's truly warranted, especially with visitors unfamiliar with our customs.
@@Scotmendpero es estúpido e irresponsable de cualquier manera. Imagínate que por no conocer por ejemplo la bandera de algún país, llegan como turistas y la insultan o pisotean...¿Les explicarían algo?
@irmarodriguez7822
First, I just wanted to point out that calling our traditions "stupid" comes across as a bit rude, perhaps it was lost in translation.
As a tourist, it’s important to respect the customs and laws of the country you’re visiting. For example, I’ve visited Spain many times and always appreciated the unique culture, even when things were different from what I’m used to. Isn’t that what makes travel so enriching?
As for the scenario you mentioned, it’s highly unlikely. In such cases, the police would step in and peacefully handle the situation before it escalated, as they would anywhere. The visibility of the Guards reflects our history and political systems.
You might not know, but the UK faced a wave of terror attacks in the 2000s, more than many (though not all) European nations at the time. These attacks often targeted symbolic elements of our culture. While many plots were stopped, tragic events like the London bus and Underground bombings still happened. These weren’t just attacks on transport-they aimed to instill fear. Londoners, however, remained resilient. My dad narrowly avoided the tube bombings, as he took that same train line daily but happened to miss it that day.
As a nation, we’ve learned from those experiences.
That’s why we take security around these sites seriously, and why the King’s Guards still have both a political and military role. Many people commenting on this video may not understand that these Guards aren’t just like regular police-there’s a deep historical and political context behind them.
For example, at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the U.S, there’s an enforced period of silence. If i visited, I would never mock that tradition because it honors the sacrifice of American military personnel. Whether I agree with every detail isn’t the point-it’s about showing respect and observing the customs.
Plainly school bullies, picking on someone (they hope) won’t defend themselves, total jerks!
I really hope they felt ashamed of themselves

Agreed it was handled well by the officer, and by the soldier on guard duty. I disagree that they are physically adults. They appear to be adolescents. That however does not excuse their rude behaviour.
@@616CCthey were just constantly making fun of him. There was a small time period where the royal guards would just let it slide but it led to some physical and emotional harassment to the point there’s now guards that monitor the ones who has to stay still to send off fellow military/police to remove them. He didn't curse at them though which is different also, he used a curse word in a sentence but not directed towards the people he was addressing

The only reason that little liberal pathetic group didn’t start a bigger problem is because they’re not in America and that officer was holding an AR, which most British officers do not do.
