Use a Password manager to make life easier (I use lastpass and I use password managers because of you and thank you so much for that dude)
@@alyxis98 If you're using a password manager because of the privacy and security, then you have to really reconsider trusting LastPass and eventually pick either KeePass or Bitwarden. Also, Techlore a great vid on this topic, you should check that out
@Gushka Hey thank you, I've switched from Lastpass to Bitwarden with andOTP 2 or so months ago.
What is a secure way to store your master pw?
The emergency sheet is for you to print, write your master password (mp) and physically store it in a safe location in case you forget your mp. Nice in depth vid. Thx.
It is very simple.

The ALT + Tab and paste tip = pure gold. Thank you.
try using STRG+ALT+a ->pure platinum ;-)
I can't get it to work!! :( It's only pasting the username, not both username and pw.
Great video as always! but I would like to suggest for a tutorial like this one change the scale of the OS at least to 150%, would be easy to watch and read from a small screen like phones.
this is so useful ! People use it at my job and now myself :)
Thank you !
That alt tab paste tip is gold! Thank you!
Just an fyi: You can put security questions and answers to "String fields" on the advanced tab. This allows you to copy the answer just by right clicking the entry and selecting the question from the "Copy Field" option.
hey bro, thanks for the time stamps. Been using this for years and I just needed to reference something.
This video is perfect, thank you!
This is such a valuable resource. Thank you sm
Great overview, thank you for the upload
Great video and great information. I am familiar with Keypass, and I have been using it on TAILS ,and though it was amazing, generating really good passwords and remembering all that I would input.
So I was getting ready to use it on my Windows machines and Android phone because I do not like the Norton password manager at all, and was really physced when I saw I could use a remote location like One drive to store the database. You have saved me from having to run upstairs to get the other computers booted up and logged into Norton to get the latest passwords.
I was delighted with the copy user name and password, and now I will try the copy/paste thing you mentioned.
Thanks for your help 👍 excellent job.
Regards,
Peter
Just wanted to say I appreciate this video, it was very helpful, thank you.
I just found out about it and i'm loving it.
Wow, that was fast. Didnt I ask for this just a few days ago?😄
Coincidence 😉 But don’t tell anyone. I made this video just for you.
Techlore Haha🤪
@@ffs2k , @Techlore Okay, someone has been reading my mind. I've been thinking about keepass for about a year, and right as I decided to get it, Henry came riding-up on his steed to help, with this video. Good job!
great content, thanks!
Thanks for the video mate, you just got me started. Bye bye Lastpass!
VERY useful video thanks!!
Very useful, Thank you so much
another great video
very useful. thanks
Thank you sir.
Great tutorial
Super Video, danke
thank you my man
Thanks for the video, really helpful.
I'm using ublock origin in the advanced mode and a lot of the websites are not showing all the contents like images, graphs etc . So for I've not been able to find a solution.
I'd be really helped through a tutorial video of yours.
Thankyou.
Edit : I tried to follow "The Hated One" 's video about UBlock Origin setup, but didn't understand well enough.
Good video.
What's your take on Dashlane? And Keeper? I am using both, one for major logins and other for not so important ones
great video!
Hello, thank you for a great video. Just wondering if KeePass can be synchronized with the KeePass application for Android? Thank you.
Use "ctrl alt a" to auto fill. Setup auto-fill instructions in AUTO-TYPE tab. Generally "inherit default Auto-Type sequence from the group" which is {USERNAME}{TAB}{PASSWORD}{ENTER}. However, you can specify your own instructions by selecting "Use custom Auto-Type sequence.
Thx for the video, how about one how to export lastpass into keypass? That would be great
Thanks so much, really helpful video! What do you think of the web browsers extension compatible with Keypass?
That smells like a trap imo.
I'm not a computer n00bie, but even I appreciate a good tutorial like this. What helps is it makes setup so much quicker and easier because if there are any settings that need immediate configuration, tutorials help set them straight. The best part was the password auto-entry feature. I'll definitely be using that!
oh I got this much just from reading the keepassxc docs, but could you make a video on ways to enable syncing of keepass databases?
use onedrive
anybody coming here after Lastpass last update?
pretty much lastpass was great and i see why they needed to make money because there old pricing model wasnt giving enough of a reason to upgrade but only 1 device type? yeah little too restrictive and after being left stood in a grocery store for 10 mins with grocerys trying to get my damn bank account to load i was pretty much fedup
also the fact that a company anycompany not just last pass basically held my accounts at ransome made me feel uneasy and the more you use password managers like those the more embedded into there system you become to where it could take hours to revert and reocver all those accounts
The latest LastPass breach yeah, been a few since this video
This is interesting and fairly helpful should I ever decide to use persistence on Tails. That said, given how trustworthy Bitwarden is, I'm content with its privacy-convenience trade-off when using it. (I'll probably look into self-hosting Bitwarden once I get a NAS.)
You could still use Tails without persistence and use a second flashdrive with your database. I believe Tails handles .kdbx by default. (Could be wrong there)
@@techlore I never thought of that. I'll have to keep that in mind.
Why not just use keepass?
Could you do a review on MYKI password manager and 2FA?
Offline Storage Advantage?
KeePassDX or MYKI, which would be better?
Myki sucks
You are badass like I did by denying the cookies
Great vid. I used KeepassXC and KeepassDX on my machines. I just switched to bitwarden because syncing my passwords required too much management.
Meh, have you heard of syncthing? It's a peer to peer file synchronization software which works really great.
@@elenaa_28 Both are a great but we need to start make things simpler. Bitwarden rocks and its simpler. I
mean most people wanna be easy ,we nerds got time cause we care etc but most people dont wanna hassle .
Therefore lets aim for opensource and simpler than opensource and lets make things complicated .Especially when we dealing with new users.
Have you self-hosted your BitWarden setup?
Are you running the hosting solution on hardware you own?
Or,
Are you using a 3rd party hosting provider?
Someone else has suggested using "SyncThing", did you ever try this as a solution or did you just decide to switch to using BitWarden after frustration with syncing databases?
bitwarden is very polished and works nicely with their integration of password saving and customization
@@longnamedude3947 I have a question, I'm pretty noob right now so does self hosting mean i need a server or can I do it on my wifi? Again, I'm a noob.
What do you think about Passwarden from KeepSolid?
I switched from KeePass to Bitwarden, mainly to be able to access passwords from Android.
Had my KeePass file on my Nextcloud but couldn't connect to it with Keepass2Android, as Keepass2Android can't handle 2FA (which my Nextcloud has), couldn't find a way to solve it with app tokens either... So I ended up hosting my own Bitwarden.
Maybe there's other KeePass apps for Android that can handle 2FA better?
Is there any way to have it autofill? Or any other password manager that will allow you to sync between devices and both store your passwords offline?
Okay Done ✅

Lol I just started using this yesterday!
Do Keepass affect my laptop I mean the hardware and etc.Because my laptop is not so good and strong you know , so can this program affect my weak laptop , also thanks for the video :)
7:32 I am old, so I have printed this out and keep it in my safety deposit box. When I die my Personal Representive will get it along with my other documents
That is a great idea.
Is there a nice Iphone App to use? I´ve stored the database on my cloud and want to access from PC and Iphone.
Hi! Does the portable KeePassXC protect you against key loggers when opening it on a public PC for example?
No. It's just regular KeePass but with the settings file location changed and no registry entries. For protection against keyloggers and clipboard snooping and such, you will need to use an alternate authentication scheme, such as yubikey.
Watched this hoping to see browser extensions, who makes them and if they work well
Hello i have one qestion how to update your version and how to sync all your passwords in your new pc ? when i click on update to last version it transfer me to keepass site to download the application again but i want just to update it ?
I don't know if I want a version of Keepass or Bitwarden. I really really really really don't know. I've been looking into it a few times and seeking comparison info on reddit. But I still don't know. All I know is that I would like an open source password manager. Would I like to have as much control as possible? Sure. Do I want everything to work flawless and without effort? Sure. I probably like things about both of them. If anyone knows an elaborate comparison, please let me know.
i just discovered keypass today is there a way to quickly change my saved passwords to new ones generated by keypass that is not going one by one to each site and go to change password and copy and paste the new keypass autogeneratwd password?
Great video. Can you give me a tip, how to securely, open keepass file on android and iphone.? Over whitch app? Tnx in advance.

How to setup and save login and password to use with Auto-Type when you have multiple user's login for the same Website (Using single Database)?
Do you know of anything keepass-like but for media files?
something like veracrypt maybe? not sure I understood the question
There's a portable version of Bitwarden also.
There's also an auto save on exit function
if im not on the pc and on my phone in a different location and i need to sign in to stuff, how will i do that without my pc?
So is keepass not a good option for MAC or iOS users?
Assuming a good password is the Database file safe to put on Google Drive for instance? Would you feel comfortable putting a crypto seed phrase inside the database etc?
As it is offline any attackers would have time to hack it. I know it would take centuries if it a good password though right?
Well who knows whats inside just dont tell enyone
Can you download this on your phone or iPad?
İ cannot download the Database.kdbx File into Keepasses own folder. I wanna synchronize it with my mobile App. Does anyone know how it functions? ThANKS
Sorry, though I can agree that using some of the options can be a little confusing, KeePass always struck me as a pretty straightforward tool. I've used it on Windows, on Linux and on Android and it has never failed me yet.
How do you get to use it on Android too?
How to unlock keepassxc with touch id in mac sonoma , after exiting the app it asks for password directly without touch id option first
@Techlore: This is a very nice video, thank you. Can I ask whether the KeePass can integrate with a browser? I don't like storing passwords in the browser, or copy/paste from the KeePass.
It can do that via plugins, e.g. Kee. There are others too. Check the plugins page on the KeePass website.
what about global shortcut to fill in fields??
Can you import from bitwarden?
Hey please make a video on its android fork keepassDX
hi bro, can you help me?
i use Lastpass in pc and i was very happy
but when i installed Android version of app it told me I could not use it in Windows and Android a free version
i really need good software and an app can use on a PC (windows 7 ) and Android 11
please help me
thank you so much
That print out is meant to be kept in a safe.
Bro i have a doubt, could you help me?, Scenario is multiple users are present, only the manager should have Master PWD and users should have read only permission. How to configure this?
In linux you could just set the file permissions such that only root or user X has write permissions to the database file. Don't know about the master password though.
the alt tab stuff doesnt work the same in windows 11?
How can auto type work on both windows and linux with the same database?
In KeepassXC I have found auto-type works on Linux OOTB
12:57 - that is how long I had to wait for the info to show up that I was after
This is an excellent tutorial, however, I really wanted you to go into the auto-filling feature. The turnoff for me about KeePass is filling in logins, which is a bit too inconvenient for me.
If you're talking about the browser, you can use the KeePassXC-Browser extension: addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/keepassxc-browser/ (also available for Chrome), you have to activate the "browser integration" on your KeePassXC app
I know it's a year later, but you have 2 good options. You can use the browser extensions Gonzalo mentioned, but you can also use auto-type. Pressing Ctrl-V on an entry will automatically find the correct open window and type into it. This can be slightly dodgy at times, and I wouldn't recommend it for really high security situations, but it's very convenient.
What good is password managers if you can't protect your keylogs?
on screen keyboards. They can't be keylogged.
the print out blank master key is for you to fill it in yourself and keep it in a safe box for your will so your family can access it lol
Is there a way to use KeyPassXC on mobile devices?
Keepassandriod will do. But don't know for apple user
Why don't you mention signature verification for keepass?
what about Android? which password manager you suggest for Android?
Keepass2Android has built-in cloud syncing. Keepassdx is more for local usage. Bitwarden if you want something easier altogether
@@techlore thanks!
Can I move my database from another password manager?
Yes, export from old database, the import into KeePass. Just export in a format KeePass recognizes.

@@RaeesUnboxingwala Peace be upon you
Please tell how to sync it with Google drive or any another service
Did you click the card for the video that explains this.
@@techlore thank you soo much.I am using KeePassDX app
I'm having a problem with finding the Mac version. All zipfiles are for Windowds
Why not use keepass xc?
Hey. Why are you using windows isn't it privacy nightmare ? Any way to make it more secure ?
Because this is a tutorial for people learning how to use KeePass. Who needs to watch a video to learn how to use KeePass? Most likely not Linux users. I dual boot for the channel and the production currently happens in Fedora.
As for windows security, it’s plenty secure (and arguably has a stronger security model than most Linux distros) Make sure windows defender is enabled and be sure you’re aware of avoiding the main security risks while you browse. As for windows PRIVACY, this is extremely problematic and I believe is likely where your concern is. You can try using tools like w10privacy but just assume unless you’re diving in yourself that Microsoft is collecting something about you. Switch to Linux if you don’t want a company watching everything you do.
Use KeePassXC for Mac.
It is essentially the same as KeePass but written in C++ so it can be multiplatform and with some new features as well.
keepassxc.org/download/#mac
Or KeePassX, KeePassXC has a better UI and more friendly, X is more bare-bones.
What happens when ransomware encrypt your data?
make a guide for gpg/gpg4win
I am still using KeePass since year 2006.
steady, convenient for daily use.
Today, i stumbled into this KeePassXC version & started considering shift to it. it allows me directly access the *.kdbx file using XC.
An outstanding feature in the XC = Generate Password window.
It allows user to stay on the generator with "refreshing" different passwords output at will , without leaving the current panel (in-&-out, Eg. such as KeePass).
BitWarden is not my cup of tea.
I still prefer offline DB. & will see , if KeePassXC using *.kdbx on my Android mobile phone works since it is using same DB file.
I like XC for that password generator too. Especially for website which have stupid prohibitions on characters
How to move a database to iPhone?
bitwarden or keepass?
Where can you download KeePassXC?
keepassxc.org/
If you need to ask, then maybe you're not the target audience. KeePass and KeePassXC require higher levels of computer proficiency than cloud based solutions such as lastpass. Maybe this doesn't apply to you, but I end up recommending other things than KeePass to most people.
@@Just2Dimes Thanks for the extra input!!!
Instead of asking questions like this on YT comments there is faster way: use any search engine Google, DuckDuckGo and just type KeePassXC. BOOM answer in less than a second.

What if you forgot master password?
R.I.P.
I've been using LastPass for a while now, this video made me inform myself a bit more again about it but I don't see a need to change from LastPass to this. I saw that LastPass had some major leaks in the past in which the encrypted and hashed values for the master passwords were leaked but those issues seemed to be dealt with pretty fast. I get the argument that it's proprietary but from what I'm gathering is that they have been pretty transparent and quick about issues in the past and took the time to improve their system by a lot with time.
Outside that I just do not see another reason to use any other for me personally since LastPass seems to be very convenient as well. I would like to see some reasoning on to why to actually avoid LastPass because as of right now I cannot see it. I assume having to basically count on them for the encryption etc would be one? I really want to know
Open source nerds. Basically the thought process is that if i can't see the code, it wants to steal my personal information and has nsa backdoors. As one i actually would prefer a worse open source app than a proprietary one. It's mostly about privacy.
I love how just little to no research most RUclipsrs do before promoting services like Last Pass and many other VPNs.
Lastpass is a steaming pile of poop. Countless issues, proprietary, and untrusted.
They don't actually research those products, they just read the talking points that they're given from the sponsor.
I’m pretty sure Linus done his research
