    Thank you David I've been following you for 10 years at least or longer anyway keep up the good work I know it's lonely and I know how hard you worked and got shunned and then that's but this is a good journey I really believe this is where the holy spirit is working and I think you're the man for the hour I did a long time ago and Matthew Vines to the whole trio I think God's if there's a God if there's a God he has to be right here in all this and now he's at the Capitol it's five years later or two years later anyway they're overthrowing the capital how silly right this heart is a trump is a symptom but our deeper issues is this and they won't admit it but keeps going forward we love you thank you God bless you fellow brother in Christ

    As a gay person, I agree with Dr. Gushee that LGBTQ individuals be held to the same covenant standards as straight individuals.
    But ... is celibacy before marriage, and life-long monogamy in marriage, the only way for Christians to go? That may have been true when people often married at the age of 12 (girls) and 14 (boys) and died in their 30s or 40s. But today people generally marry in their 20s or 30s, and died in their 80s or 90s. So ... remain celibate for all that unmarried time, learn nothing? I disagree.
    Once married, you are in it for life? What about the fact that people change, that marriage can become a cage for abuse, and only a healthy person will get out of a sick situation. Christian ethics needs more sophistication today.

    And David also I was thinking I'm listening to the sermon again it's so good you're good your vision from the way you see it from your perch from your worldview and the way you teach it is it's a member it's like a body member and we are all members of Christ and like the foot can't say to the to the leg you know I don't want you and the arm can't tell the the the muscle I don't need you and you know what I mean like the Bible Jesus did they talk Paul talks about that we are members as a gay person when you shut down that inner soul when we did that when we went through reparative therapy and tried to shut what is only natural to us our secret orientation we got sick we became paralyzed some of us is suicidal you can't shut down your core identity and who you love and how you love is your core and we're anyway gay people we have a perch but you are the teacher and you can see it from your perch but we're all bodies and members of Christ and we all need each other for the different visions to complete the diversity you know it's a big puzzle I think but I think we're fulfilling it that you know and like we could be the capstone you know on the building and you talk about that and it's just the holy spirit is a cool thing if you look at it I never would have saw all this coming and that's another good sign that's supernatural or serendipity okay bye-bye.

Yes, of course there is sin, and of course God is against sin, and of course sexual immorality is sin; but regarding the exact interpretation of those passages, there have been several theories, some of them more plausible and based on sound biblical exegesis and good hermeneutics and some others very extravagant and even harmful, both on the conservative and on the gay-affirming side. Those are passages which have to be deeply analyzed. A lot of people take for granted that they are so easy to interpret. "They speak so clearly", they say. Pitifully, people who say so, haven't usually studied the sociocultural environment of that time in depth, or what was really happening. In fact, they don't really care. They are possibly willing and able to interpret the context of other passages, but never here, here they don't even have the patience to take into account the addressees, the politics or the moral or sexual attitudes in Rome or in Corinth, nor the fertility cults - when Paul is repeating, ad nauseam, that "because of that", of pagan idolatry, certain habits had propagated around pagans. They won't have in mind the philosophical thinking of that period, which was so commonplace that no writer, not even the biblical ones, could talk otherwise; of course, biblical writers could not even dream of present-day discoveries. And I'm not saying that biblical writers were "wrong" when they condemned the practices they knew about in their context. But a lot of modern day "interpreters" don't consider historical context, and much less human experience and reality as valid to help interpret the Bible in certain cases. They don't care about young people who have been expelled from their homes and who are now homeless, exposed to all kind of harm and abuse; an attitude which seems to me very different from the one Jesus would have had. Of course, they don't consider the experience of gay people who say to be Christian, not at all. They have never talked with them or listened to their Christian experiences or daily life, because their lives and experiences are "despicable", and "sinful" from the start. ruclips.net/video/EVswuw3bJns/видео.html They disregard people who think differently, so there is a lot to discuss which they don't want to even start to consider.
      They don't have in mind present-day research regarding sexuality. They want science to adapt their discoveries to their preconceived interpretations. They tend to have a bias in favor of the "science" or "pseudosciences" that "confirm" what they think, like "reparative therapy". When talking about "homosexuality" the only thing that comes to their mind are specific "acts", when homosexuality has to do with orientation, as all the official psychologists' and psychiatrists' associations say. It is not with what you do or not do, nor has to do with a certain "lifestyle". They also despise what recent biological research has to say. Too many things they take for granted that are very questionable, indeed. They won't tell you that, precisely, the translations of some words like "effeminate" are very questionable. They won't ever tell you that "nature" or "natural" is not a concept coming from the Old Testament, but from Greek philosophical thinking.
      They say that "the Bible is clear", a hackneyed phrase which is really meaningless, because every, every reader of the Bible is always interpreting; but they don't move a finger to investigate, to see if, perchance, they might be wrong in any of their contradicting interpretations: it could a "life choice", it could be blatant, conscious rebellion, it could be diabolic possession, it could be child abuse, it could be bad parenting, it could be a bad biological "inclination" or "preference" that "you can and should control", it could be kind of a "generational sin". All those are the best evidence that they really DON'T know; they are always shifting and adapting their interpretations at their whim or lucubrations, but they won't acknowledge, ever, that they really DON'T know.
      They will always say that their own biased, uninformed shifting interpretations are precisely "what God has said", the "clear message of the Word of God". And then, they are just so "happy" pointing at others with their accusing fingers. They will condemn you, they will exorcise you, they will expel you, even from their families, and then tell you that if you suffer from anxiety o have mental health problems it's not because of them, but because of your sin. It's always your fault, not theirs. In the Middle or Modern Ages they would even have burned you. Today, some of them wouldn't be against the execution of "homosexuals" by the state, as I have read from a certain present-day "reformed" celebrity apologist. They seem to me like people throwing the stones that Jesus said that shouldn't be thrown if you weren't without sin. And I would still respect if, because of your sincere research and biblical interpretation, you think that even gay couples are sinful. But please, I wish lots of people did a bit more research before saying "the Bible is clear" while sitting back repeating the same old tedious uninformed harmful thoughts or phrases, especially when excluding and disregarding a whole percentage of the human population.
