    Still very tapered toe box.... i wish they make footshape series and take the Altra market share😊

    This was a very informative video! I've always found that the clifton has been stable enough for me without having to get a stability shoe due to its wide base. You guys should definitely do a video for other shoe brand's popular models.

      Glad you enjoyed the video! Hoka as a brand has some very stable neutral shoes. The wide base on most Hoka shoes alongside the higher arch profile gives them a hint of support even without all the fancy technology. We will check with our video guy to see what we can do.

    P.S. We pronounce Bondi like our beach "bond-eye".

    I just bought the Gaviota 5 in a 10D (medium). As a matter of fact, I happen to put them on at home again and pulled up this video.
    Have a slimish foot, some shoes just run too wide so I am very careful about fit. I was also in the footwear industry for a decade where fit was important because we dealt with first walkers to grown adults as I managed a children's shoe store when stores and service were king.
    What found coincides with what was said. Where I normally wear a 10.5 in Nike, I went down a half size to a 10 in the Gaviota. I even tried the 10.5 before my purchase to convince myself that I was right about the 10 and I was. I did not find that the D (medium) was wide but it was full enough to warrant the half size decrease.
    I am not a runner. I am a road cyclist. I bought these shoes for comfort and trips where walking would be a bug part of the day.
    IF I was a runner, I would probably want a slightly more snug fit and would try the other shoe suggested.
    This shoe does have a learning curve, though. They are very cushioned, so if you are not used to that, you might bounce and hit your head on the ceiling.

    Thank you for this! This was really informative. Arahi's definitely have a tighter toe box compared to a Stinson or a Gaviota.

    I typically wear 9s in shoes such as Adidas Sambas and Nike shoes in general. For boots and loafers I typically wear size 8. I bought the Clifton 9s in size 9 and I have about a thumb and a half width between the end of my longest toe and the shoe. Do you think an 8.5 would be a better fit if I plan on using them for exclusively exercising/running?

    Hey! Thanks for a very informative video. Me and my wife are eyeing for Gaviota 5s. For me, I have a Speedgoat 6 US10 2E and my wife has a Mafate US9 B which are perfect for us. In Gaviota 5s, what sizes do you recommend for me and my wife? Thanks in advance!

  • @wrinkleneckbass

    Yep, the Bondi 8 is the only 4E shoe they make, so I got a size 13 4E and I love them. Plus they make it in all black.

    Been running Novablast 3. Even in midfoot besides toe way too tight. Tried Gaviota 5 again, not as exciting but so much more comfortable.

    • @samkovalchik5655
      @samkovalchik5655 6 месяцев назад

      I found that the newer novablast 4 is much wider than the 3. I personally did not have to get a wide in that shoe. They do offer a wide though if you need one.

    bought a womens hoka clifton 8 normal width last year in size UK8 which is my go to size, depending on different shoe brands, it usually fits a little loose and gives room to wiggle my toe. When I tried on the hokas, the shoes were so small! my feet hurt to wear them, i guess that maybe my feet are wider than normal but I had to return them and ended buying a pair of On running shoes instead. Im thinking of trying Hokas once more, but im unsure of what sizes to go for now.

    If I wanted to change from a 0-drop to a drop shoe, is the gaviota a good replacement for an Altra paradigm (6), considering both are stability shoes? Would the toebox be wide enough in the Hoka? Would love for you to compare the Altra Experience form (when it comes out) to the Gaviota!😊

    • @RunMoore
      @RunMoore  6 месяцев назад +2

      The Gaviota is a great replacement for the Paradigm. It is more cushioned with the higher stack height, more supportive with the H-Frame stability system, and has a naturally wider toebox. We find the Gaviota 5 toebox fits very similar to a Standard fit Altra toebox. It is almost identical if not a pinch wider than the Paradigm. The Altra Experience Form will be more in line with the Arahi. They are both in the midweight cushion category, have a medium heel drop (5mm on the Hoka and 4mm on the Altra), and have a rocker platform that will help with the heel-to-toe transition. They are also both supportive with extra arch support. Think of the Form as a less cushioned Gaviota.

    So, which one is the best for a long walk or standing all day from the morning till the evening by not getting the heel pain?

    • @RunMoore
      @RunMoore  6 месяцев назад +2

      If you are on your feet for a long time we recommend the maximum cushion models from Hoka. These include the Gaviota 5 and the Bondi 8. Having more stack height under your heel will help prevent some of the pain caused by concrete and pavement.

    I have the Arahi 6, and I had to buy them half a size larger than what I usall buy.
    Usually I buy my shoes in size 8 UK but the Arahi 6 I had to buy them in 8.5 UK.
    Do you think I should buy the Arahi 7 in 8 Uk or 8.5 UK ? since my Arahi 6 are half a size larger than example my Nike shoes.

    I just found i need to size up for running shoes. Does this apply for for Wide versions of shoes? I am looking to buy gaviota 5 wide because I have flat feet

    • @RunMoore
      @RunMoore  6 месяцев назад +2

      Yes. Going a half size up applies to wide versions of shoes. When you do any physical activity, your feet have a tendency to swell. You want the extra toe box length to allow your feet to swell.

      Try SAS shoes. I have narrow feet + I had tendinitis and my feet were killing me. I went to the foot doctor & she told me I had to wear an ankle brace and get rid of my Sketchers, Lol!! I went to a specific shoe store here (NC) where they measure your feet and have a variety of shoes. And they fitted me with SAS shoes. These shoes are quite pricey $250 but I needed the support and stability. My feet no longer hurt. Good luck with your shoe search.

    I wish I had seen this vidoe before wasting over $400 in Hoka mistakes. Arahi 7 no go because in a 2E too tight. Bondi 8, too mush and when I ran got low back pain. Gaviota 5 is good stable shoe but feels at times too wide. Normally wear a 2E but in the Gaviota a D probably would habe been a better fit. Also, now I will probably to to a Brooks Adrenaline. Too bad this store is on the east coast and all the shoe store I have been in CA are not informative and most just want to sell you the custom molded insoles (those area additional $100).

    I have worn the Bondi for years. I had to stop wearing them. they make me feel like I’m leaning backwards. I have chronic plantar fasciitis and the pain was so bad every time I wore them. I had to have surgery last Friday to correct it. Will be looking for a shoe with a higher heel lift. Great shoe. Just not for me.
