- Unlike the other extended compilation on RUclips, this one is without anyone talking or laughing over it. Seems like a lot of people were ticked off about that, so I'm providing this version that I got online probably a decade ago. This version also has as an extra blooper or two that the other one doesn't.
"TWO?!" - Приколы
"Every Saturday morning at two. TWO?!?!?!"
Love that.
LOL!
"Two...TWO-OOOOO?"
LOL! I know I lost it when he said that
Well, you probably had some HS kid doing overnight M-6AM so the real jocks could go get liquored up; and you sure as hell didn't want them cracking a mic(the kid, not the Jocks), Money on another syndicated show running M-2.
He previously worked at NBC before so, that almost fits.
"what the fuck am I doing? Promos inside the fucking game?" Being a sports fan that just cracks me up
"...on Maine's most listened to radio station W-... I'm not going to say all that shit. How do I know they're the most listened to station?" Hilarious. Classic Kasem.
Lmao
He was right to question it
You can hear he's working hard here. He cared about doing a good job.
RIP Casey.
Man, it’s SO hard reading all these huge words off a piece of paper.
He was a piece of shit. Fuck him.
@@stevensmith8666 how was he a piece of shit?
That’s my takeaway. He gets mad because he wants the show to sound good.
He cared a lot it was His show and reputation.
The thing that makes the dead dog bit so funny is he *clearly* wants to do a respectful tribute to the dog.
R.I.P. Snuggles. I'm sure you were a good doggie.
I just heard this LDD about an hour ago on iheart radio having no idea this was the famous meltdown dedication. That shit brought tears to my eyes once the song started playing.
@@RageTVHTX I hear the flashback every week... Still waiting for the one with the dog named Snuggles... I only know that it's from September 1985, and the song was "Dare Me" by the Pointer Sisters. I heard it last year, but it was 2 weeks later.
@@mr.intensity2685 ive been listening to Classic American Top 40 on the iHeart app. Lately its all I listen to while I work. I love it
I heard the tape of the dedication in the summer of 1985 on WXRK. Stern played it. I think it's from a few years earlier.
@@RageTVHTX yeah i have too since i found it.
I'm glad to see Casey was human after all!
Me too. Those popular DJ's could sound so much like f**king robots. hahahaha
Howard Stern thought this would embarass Casey but it had the opposite impact of showing his professionalism and frustration at having idiot co-workers.
My respect for Kasem went through the roof after I heard this - his broadcasts were flawless, but this shows how hard he actually had to work.
He was definitely a perfectionist. I still listen to AT40 reruns on Sirius. Rest in peace Casey.

Thanks for the helpful scorecard. Hearing the series of blow-ups before the dog dedication puts that infamous outburst more in context. Casey clearly was in the habit of bantering and complaining with his engineer and so he wasn't coming out of a bag on the guy on Snuggles Day. He vented a lot, and with a sense of humor about himself. It seems like it helped cut through the monotony of a lot of dry script reading.
"Ah, fuck it!"
"That was right. You're right!"
"BULLSHIT!"
If you still like Casey's voice, SiruisXM 70s on 7 airs his classic 70s AT40 on Saturdays and Sundays. I certainly enjoy it!
Premiere Networks has been airing the classic "AT40" shows from the 70's & 80's since 2007.
Saturday at two?
@@raygordonteacheschess5501 TWO? 🤣
I worked in radio for a number of years and honestly, doing this kind of work can be extremely frustrating. Much of the problem is due to the way copy is written. Most people don't write the copy to be read aloud, in a flowing manner. That leaves the talent to try to make it sound natural, conversational and friendly. Doesn't take much for some badly written lines to yield some profanity-laced tirades on the part of the talent.
+thejmmx1 seriously, all he has to do is read a few lines and he makes a bit deal about it, image if show business people had real jobs in the real word ,image how much complained they would be doing then.this also shows what jerks many people in show business really are.
+hifijohn Imagine if you had to read that shit _every day_ for your job. You'd soon be cursing worse than Casey Casem did.
Definitely takes a toll on you
Yeah, of course he's making a big deal about it. You try doing that all in one take after spending however long it took to record the show back then.
Or better yet, you try out for something scripted and see how quickly you pick it up.
Not that simple.
I'm a broadcasting student and been working in radio part time for around a year now. You couldn't be more correct on bad copy writing, it's truly a joke.
"The Ghostbusters are at it again, this time at the fashionable nightclub, the Rose. The Boys in Gray slugged it out with a pretty pesky poltergeist, then stayed on to dance the night away with some of the lovely ladies who... I'm not gonna say all that shit. How do I know the ladies were lovely?"
But how did he know they weren't? We didn't see them either?
Loved that. Mind you Casey's wife was in the movie too
Fucking hilarious
"Anyway, on with the F**KIN' countdown." 😂

Ive done audio production. ALL productions sound like this until after the editing.
The Dead Dog Dedication is a riot to listen to.

Poor Snuckles 😔
I think we've all had coworkers who would foolishly transition from an uptempo sweep into a death dedication.
Every once in a while I come here to listen to this because I laugh so hard, it brings me to tears. It's funny hearing this now because when I was a kid, I only heard the canned radio version of Casey, which was the complete opposite of this. Thanks for posting!!
We always suspected Casey was like this when he was mad, and who wouldn't be mad at an engineer who goes from a f**king up-tempo sweep into a god-d*mn death dediction, or who moves your show to 2am Saturday, the lead-in slot to public affairs requirements.
Here here... this is really hilarious!
😂
exactly!!!
I damn near had to pull over I was laughing so F ing hard!!!!!!
Man, this stuff is a SCREAM to listen to.
This sounds like me trying to record my iphone greeting message :(
+kdogtv lol crickets
+Bob Rickleson wait for it
hahaha
OMG THATS PERFECT 😂
Anyone thinking Casey was a dick for his rants here should try to do one-liners while hosting a radio show and not lose their mind. Plus, I'd get upset too if they had to play an uptempo record while someone wanted to dedicate a sad song to a dead relative of their family when they could've played a solemn song beforehand. But the other stuff is not as easy as it looks. Which is why Casey was great at what he did. We're all human.
Well said.
When you get to the level of a Casey Kasem and have to read stupid liners written by some idiot at a back-woods station, ya have to let off steam in the studio. Good for Casey. Praying for him. Many of us in the biz have idolized him for decades.
I think it's a hoot and having been on stage if you can't blow up, you'll go nuts. Casey was great!
Coal miners have accidentally amputated their own limbs and made less of a fuss about it than Casey Kasem.

I still love the Dead Dog Death Dedication in this set! With all due respect to Casey...RIP Casey!
Legend has it, don is still on the phone to this day.
egadgo What happened to the pictures he was supposed to see that week?
That was producer Don Bustany, who had promised Casey pictures of the acts so that he could see who he was talking about.

He was referring to pictures of the musical acts so he could play to audience stereotyping. Don was Don Bastante, the producer.
His show ran on SO many radio stations and to cut promo and after promo, doing different numbers, call letters and tag lines every time is exhausting. I love to hear him get frustrated, he always sounded so smooth it's good to remember he was just a radio jock doing what he loved still. RIP Casey Kasem...

Man, this guy had the mouth of a sailor! lol RIP
I think I heard Ed Sullivan was also a colorful cusser.
I can totally relate to Mr. Kasem. I work in customer service and I know how to "turn on the charm" when facing the public. But as soon as my back is turned and I am out of earshot of customers, my mouth starts to run...and the sh*t that comes out of it would make a drunken sailor seem like an altar boy.
I agree. Casey was a pro trying to get it right. He had an absolute right to cuss because he cares about his job. The bloopers are hilarious. He should be our national treasure. Hope everything is ok with the current situation with his family. We love you Casey.
Hi Christopher. I'm a DJ from San Diego who has been blind since birth, and absolutely love doing live sets and the High Energy Tunes trance mix. According to your comment, it sounds like you were a fan of Casey for a long time. I was too, and I loved waking up every Sunday morning to listen to his show on the radio. My dream of meeting him came true in 2006, and he was extremely kind. My favorite memory was when he hugged me before I left his studio. After I told him it made me smile, he said, "Well, I'm going to make you smile twice." And he gave me another hug. Not only am I thankful I got the opportunity to meet him, but that he also took the time to keep in touch and encourage me to "Keep my feet on the ground, and keep reaching for the stars."
If you're interested in getting to know me, feel free to reply to my comment and check out my RUclips channel. :)
Great story, DJHey20. I am a huge fan of radio (the way it used to be, anyway).

You don't know how much I've missed the one with Music Radio 138, OFUK. That was my favorite, and it's never turned up on any of the other compilations...
He was so great, a consummate pro. Anyone who has ever done voiceover understands moments like these. It just happens.
I heard these from a friend who got ahold of this tape back in the 80's. Funny af. Thanks for posting. Enjoyed a good laugh.
Much thanks for the effort in putting this together. This is what makes RUclips worth it.
"And the 'shits' just keep on coming!" (jingle: "Casey''s Ghost is Toast!")
I found myself snickering all through Casey Kasem’s meltdowns and breakdowns, especially when one of his fans had a dog named Snuggles who had passed away and wanted his favorite DJ to play “Shannon” by Henry Gross. And there was Casey Kasem ranting and raving all over the place. Priceless.
Mainly cause they had just played the Pointer Sisters' "Dare Me". Imagining playing a sad ballad after you played a very uptempo dance song...
The crazy thing is that someone did a video of Shaggy as a DJ and Scooby as his producer.
RIP Casey. I still want to know if he ever found out what happened to the pictures he was supposed to see that week!
Casey's Top Ten *Def Jam Comedy* radio intro's.
That ending. The fuse was lit.
Where's the part where he disparages U2 and says, "These guys are from England and who gives a shit?" I loved that. RIP Casey. We've all had lousy days at work.
I loved it too, especially when he says "diddly shit." But that's the one blooper no one seems to have. The only time I've ever heard it was on the Negativland song that sampled it.
I belive Negativland released multitrack masters of that song, U2 in memory of Casey Casem, so people could do thier own remixes. There might be a clean copy of that sample there
Apparently The Edge is to Casey Kasem what Niagara Falls was to Moe Howard!
I still get a chuckle listening to this. Casey's general "screw it" attitude with radio stations' big egos and thinking that they are the "most listened to station" in the state and these really long tags that they wanted Casey to add on to the end of the bumpers.
"Your favorite music radioFUCKIT." LOL!
"Where we're getting set for Westmoreland County. WHAT? What the fuck does that mean?"
"Music radio 138...OH FUCK!" LOVE IT!

XD I had no idea Casey had such a short fuse. At least he didn't storm out of the recording booth like Orson Wells.
Check out Bill O'Reilly's temper!

American top 40 was big when I was a kid. Mom and Pop would turn off the TV and turn the radio on and we would listen to Casey quite often. These old blooper are funny as hell.

Promos are a lot of work and a lot of takes, especially when the call letters are a linguistic nightmare, etc. Listening to this just increases my fondness for Casey.
