Mike...Casey came to my hometown once, but I didn't hear about it until after. One of the biggest regrets of my 65 year old life that I didn't get a chance to meet him.The station I listened to was one of the 1st to air the show.Later,I got to fulfill my life long dream & become a radio DJ.My 1st job was to work the board on AT 40.Loved it,& I got payed too.Still own many copies of my favorites on LP & CD.Thanks to him,I know & still remember a LOT of music trivia. From Mike,a 50 year fan!
Wow ! Double Wow !! Triple Wow !!! That is one wonderfully informative, entertaining & heartwarming tribute to your late great beloved dad, Mike ! Kudos, sir ! Well done ! Two thumbs up ! THANK YOU so much for sharing with us ! Your late dad was one truly unique talent & one classy gentleman ! May he rest in eternal bliss ! CHEERS !! :-)
Hi, Mike, Just saw this touching video to your dad...I still listen to his old broadcasts of American Top 40. His voice was a part of my childhood...I watched Scooby Doo as a child and I listened to him on the radio every Sunday when I was a teenager. Thank you, Casey, for the memories, and keep reaching for the stars. And Mike, my deepest condolences to you and your family.
Thank you for sharing this video with us... but more importantly, thank you for sharing your dad with us and the rest of the world. He was an inspiration to me.
Touching tribute. I was always a big Casey Kasem fan - having caught the tail end of American Top 40 and growing up on Scooby-Doo and Superfriends reruns. Been listening to him again recently - my local radio station is replaying some classic AT40 this July 4th weekend in honor of the 50th anniversary of the show's inception. He brightened everything he was a part of with his unique and energetic joy. Glad to see his legacy continue! :)
A nice tribute to a true radio legend. Casey's AT40 was played on the original Radio Nova in Dublin in the mid 80's. It was our first taste of professional american radio and he made an impact that still lasts to this day. Listening to Casey 'counting them down' every Sunday, was an essential joy for the youth of Dublin. His combination of a friendly voice and ultimate professional presentation style, was unique, and it earned him a loyal following in a country many miles away from his U.S. target audience. Many of our current radio professionals would credit Casey with being their early inspiration. Casey is still very fondly remembered in Ireland. Thank you for the many memories.
I still remember how eager I was to listen to his voice & always made sure the Radio will be on when the specific time came along. The style he used to talk is very unique & mesmerizing.
Mike, your dad meant a lot to people all over the world, by helping us appreciate music, and life. Believe me, even today, there are still enough of us who won't let your dad's legacy die in vain. We loved Casey, as much as we now love and respect you, Kerri, and Julie. Take care, guy, and I hope ONE of these days I get to meet you all in person, to say what a difference you all made in MY life.
Nice tribute. I lost my Dad just a few months before Casey passed away but thankfully we can still enjoy the old American Top 40 shows and I know listening to them is like a little bit of sunshine on a cloudy day. May they both Rest In Peace.
sorry to hear about your dad. thank you for reaching out. I guess im lucky that i can just see a clip of him on youtube or hear him on the countdown for a bit of nostalgia. take care Joe!
We love you Casey! R.I.P.- Thank you for keeping us up to date each week with all the current hits and artists, and being a big part of the soundtrack of our lives!
I am from Colombia but I still remember listening to the radio every Saturday the brocasting cost to cost the American top 40, translated into Spanish by El negro bar Liza ! Excelent! Nowadays thank god we are able to go back in time and enjoy his amazing voice in some channels in RUclips!
I listen to your Dad when I was young It made me to want get into radio and be a DJ Now I am A recording engineer and producer of a major music label He was my mentor and my idol it drove me to get into radio when I was young every Sunday I rush home from church to catch AT 40 and keep up what was new and hot that week I took his death has the day the music and radio died He will always be SHAGGY and I wished I could have thank him for giving the drive to become a DJ and fo my career i have We all miss him still Radio is not the same without him

Mike- I just wanted to say that I have thought of your family so much- I have a stepmother just like yours and she won't "allow" my father to see me or talk to me. I haven't seen him in 26 years and it is heartbreaking. I admire you and your siblings so much for how much you loved your father and telling your side of the story. It is hard to understand how some people can be so evil (like your stepmother and mine) but good prevails in the end. :) Your dad was great :) Good luck to your whole family-
thank you very much. im so sorry about your situation. My sister kerri is going state to state changing the law. hopefully it will help you when the time comes. I know what your feeling ... the injustice is overwhelming.
I love it. I miss being able to talk with him in person and on the phone. He was one in a million. I especially love him for his involvement in the Peace March and wanting to help make the world a better place. There is only one Casey Kasem. RIP Thankfully i have several hours of him still on Cassette or CD. Pray that he is in peace now. PEACE
Hi Mike. Thank you and your family for sharing Casey with us. Hearing him as Shaggy in Scooby-Doo, and AT 40 always brought a smile to my face. May he continue to rest in eternal peace. God bless you and your family.
I was on his Christmas show back in 66' while in high school. I remember it was filmed in Hollywood and he was such a wonderful and kind man ! RIP Mr. Kasem !
Dearest Mike, I just want to say that I am sorry for your loss. I really enjoyed seeing your father on TV and doing voiceovers! He was the best Shaggy ever BTW. Thank you for sharing this tribute. I hope you and Kerri are doing well. (hugs)

thanks randy! your right, still think about him everyday as i'm sure you do with your dad too. my memories are not of all this nonsense but of the amazing dad he was.
I was randomly thinking about Casey when I came across this video and let me say your Dad seemed like a terrific human being. I knew him best the way many children did. I grew up a huge Scooby Doo fan and Shaggy was my favorite. When I realized I shared a birthday with that very childhood hero I was thrilled. That day is actually coming up pretty soon and I will definitely be thinking about him.
Kemal A. Kassem was named by his father after Mustafa Kemal Atatürk of Turkey. He was not Casey Casem, he was Kemal Kasim ,a Lebanese Arab and I met him over 40 years ago. He lived at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel and used to walk with his puppies. at the end, they messed up his name and image over inheritance.
Still miss him very much. So glad to find out that the fighting is over and he was finally buried. Hope you are hanging in there. Lost my dad in April 2013 so I understand..
