- The ABC Action News I-Team previously introduced you to Karen Federighi, whose former guardian Kathy Johnson was suspended following a scathing audit. In a follow-through investigation, we’re digging deeper into Federighi’s ongoing attempts to get her rights restored, which was accomplished with help from strangers... including the daughter of a world-famous icon who also ended up in a court-ordered conservatorship.
This woman was kidnapped and ruined for $155,000 - by the state of Florida????? Hopefully, she will get attorneys to sue her sisters, pro bono.
What about the sister who instigated the guardianship in the first place all over a freaking inheritance? She destroyed her sister’s life! She needs to be held accountable as well!
For someone who’s supposedly incapacitated, she managed to live on the lam with burner phones and cash. That sounds like a pretty capable person.
Put this "guardian" into prison along with all these so called professionals who judged her incompetent. This is a money racket for Florida and nothing else. They employ thieves to steal all the money.
Sadly it happens across our country.
It is a crime.

Johnson needs to do prison time. Period.
Registered voters of Florida, contact your legislator to STOP making it easy for people to be placed in Guardianship!!!
It shouldn't be this easy to come under guardianship and so difficult to get out of it. It's awful what happened to this woman and all the others. I feel so bad for what happened to Casey, too.
Especially that Casey was in severe pain that his body would jolt and no pain medicación given to him by his wife.

Thank you Ms. Kasem for helping this woman who was wrongly put under guardianship. It is awful that that Florida court approved this to happen with so little evidence. There is definitely some shady collusion ongoing.
There is too much money involved for these "guardians" to be interested in declaring someone incapacited. The procedures and evidence requirements and vetting processes should be much stricter.
This woman paid herself $90 an hour to ruin these peoples' lives. I can't imagine how these people sleep at night.
Hopefully this investigation will open the conversation on this guardianship process & bring about better regulations for it.

This is unbelievable. I'm watching from South Africa and cannot understand how on earth a country like America allows this or does this. It is mind boggling. Adults who are capable of running their own lives being made a ward of the state without any rights at all????? Whoever came up with this idea definitely did so in order to steal these peoples money. How on earth can the judiciary be complicit in this. How do the judiciary not interview these people beforehand to actually see if they actually need this kind of "care"? How do they not have a court appointed professional examine these people before taking the step to make them wards of the state? Unbelievable!! Mind blowing. Ludicrous.

How does a grown adult who was gainfully employed become under someone else's guardianship or under other legal controls ? I need more information about this situation, because it seems to be about Defamation of Character, greed, lies, with the INTENT to destroy !

Unfortunately if a guardian steals your money there is almost no chance of getting it back. Even though the state appoints these people it isn’t liable if they steal your money, and this is every state. Considering you have to be insured or bonded to do many jobs, why don’t they require the same for people who literally control lives

The thing that gets me ...when a person is in a nursing home the Gardians have no family or attachment to the patient and might visit them every 3 months or less.. but will get updates if the person goes in the hospital etc... no Love is involved.

That’s definitely Casey’s kid. Her voice and cadence of speaking seems to be very similar to her dads.
This is fraud, plain and simple, theft and fraud. All these people should be in jail. This type of business should not even exist, no one should have several guardianship, it should not be a business.
