I went to the zoo with the family today after Divine Liturgy so I missed the live, but the good news is I’ll have something to listen to tomorrow morning while I do cardio!
You mentioned Ronnie B, the Dutch banker. In his most recent interview he mentions the people he worked for having telepathy and causing immense burning pain by just touching someone. Fun stuff.
It's interesting that his alters include his father and Bateman, since a book and movie that have a similar title to the one about Bateman focuses on a character named Bates who ends people while in the alter of his abusive mother. Not being familiar with that Ellis book or this one, I assume this is all intentional. Something else to note is that Christian Bale played Bateman, a business man with a double life where he ends people at night, and he played Batman, who is a business man who has a double life where he beats people up while protecting the innocent at night. Where is the obvious ultimate crossover movie, Hollywood? (The climax would obviously have the twist that both characters who look identical are further alters of the same individual suffering from DID.)
Never enough streams, never enough thanks🙏 You have reawakened my love for literature, and l'm also learning how to write poetry. I always hated writing long form stuff, and I had never felt inspired to write poetry until I watched your streams on T.S. Eliot.
Glad I caught this live, I admit I paid more attention to what was happening in the chat but I will listen to it in the following days. Thank you for introducing this book, I'm not familiar to contemporary authors but I'm eager to learn. 🙂
Had the same reaction as you, that the events are true but not necessarily real for others. His personalty is so shattered he is 5 people in the book it seems, or at least he projects himself in the. Part is no forgiveness or any repentance, he and his wife start a "new" multiple times but it does notseem like they have forgiven or changed anything. In the end he forgives himself and his father but does it change anything ? lunar park is a reference to a theam park Which i pretty good summary of the book as a team park of different genres. Just some thoughts .
Excited to hear what you think about The Shards 👍
