I like to think Miyamoto's comments about Pikmin 4 weren't about Hey! Pikmin, since Nintendo commented on a Eurogamer story about it by saying, "We can confirm that Pikmin 4 is in development but that is all we can confirm at present," and this was a month before the release of Hey! Pikmin, about which a lot more was confirmed at the time
They’ve talked about Pikmin 4 after Hey Pikmin was announced so unless they’re lying about the game existing it does but I don’t think they’re going to be timely about making it.

"The best one is definitely the first" gives the the vibe that you haven't played the first recently. It's a great game, but extremely rough around the edges.
Yeah it says a lot because not only was the last time he played pikmin 1 3 years ago, he was also drunk during the whole playthrough so he may have forgotten some stuff.
A lot of people say the first one is the best, actually. Liam triforce has a video on the Pikmin series, and he also says 1 is the best one
I think pikmin 2 was better.
I feel like all three of the games have their strengths and weaknesses but definitely feel like any of them could be valid favorites. There's just an experience from 1 that I can't get from 2 and 3 and that makes it one of my favorite games ever, but I still like Pikmin 2 a little bit more :P
I think its really cool how there doesn't seem to be a general consensus on which pikmin game is the best. There isn't a unanimous opinion on which game is the best and which is the worst (ignoring hey pikmin). Personally, my favourite is pikmin 3 while my least favourite is pikmin 2, but I've heard people who have the exact opposite opinion from me. That feels kinda rare for a game series, and it just goes to show how consistent the games are in quality.

The juice mechanic would be perfect and it would add some cool tension to the story and maybe even some much needed depth for the main trio

I don't know why, but when I started the video I instantly got reminded of one of the old pikmin videos (Bikmin or drunk pikmin I'm not sure) and specifically where he goes through a highlight reel of fanart and there was a bike-borb meme.

What the FUCK I was not ready for that
My headcanon is that the plasm wraith is the result of some freak accident or experiment caused by humans, which originally was bade as some sort of “ultimate life form” bio weapon that went rogue, and saw all humans as enemies, which would explain why it was obsessed with olimar, as he’s pretty much as close to a human as you’ll see in this series - it’s the wraith’s last target
My reason that it doesn’t hurt him, is because it realized that it needed to ration its food, so it likely was trying to bring him somewhere else as a sort of power battery
Oh, also I think the plasm wraith used to be much bigger, and able to absorb a ton of humans at once, but due to not having food for such a long time, it devolved to use much less energy
As for the water wraith, I’d imagine it had similar origins, but it may have been a prototype - one that got caught going haywire, and thrown away before it could cause any real damage
As for why it’s made of water, I believe it got tossed into the ocean, with the humans thinking it was just completely soluble, and would dissolve and die, but instead, it adapted to the water (like how the plasm wraith turns into water), and absorbed it
But I think it took in too much, and lost its ability to turn back to “plasm”

The reason why every single captain fails to land on "Earth" is because the golden alien thingy. There's a theory that it messes up with the planet's surroundings. I don't remember a lot about it.

i dont know if this is just me being very "pure" and optimistic about how i view these things but i view these as just extra little pieces of gameplay to strategize about, for example, directing a single captain back to the place to make sure they round up all the returning pikmin. im probably biased though since i particularly enjoyed managing all three captains and usually having at least two, if not all three, constantly moving and doing something on their own

It's probably an issue caused by how depth of field is calculated
There's something called a depth texture : it's a texture that's the size of the screen, which is used to know how far everything on the screen is from the camera, with a value from 0 to 1 (black to white) for each pixel. 0 being where the camera is, 1 being the max distance.
The DOF effect is probably applied after everything else is rendered, using that texture
The issue is, due to how the majority of engines handle transparent objects, said objects tend to either be opaque or invisible on that depth texture, no inbetween.
I imagine the helmet is opaque on the depth texture, and if they made it invisible instead the entire thing would be blurry, as if it was very far away in the background.
The only solutions to this involve either re rendering a bunch of stuff several times or huh, ray tracing

A lot of games I've played have that issue but with peoples hair, so at least with this a dome js somewhat more believable to do something like that

i don't like to comment twice on videos but i have a few tidbits of info i thought were worth sharing:
i think the cutscenes from the bonus missions were originally seen by entering a secret (and game specific) code into various miiverse posts or something to that effect. i think maybe the cutscenes were just on miiverse and would point you to secret files, which had the code you would put into one last miiverse post?
also i saw a really good theory video on the plasm wraith a while back likening it to a sea monster from japanese mythology, and explains that it continually hunts ship captains similar to how the mythological creature hunts sea captains. theres a whole bunch of other evidence i can't really remember, i would link the video but i can't find it anymore.
i really love the sense of underlying intrigue this series has as a whole. like yeah its cute little carrot dudes killing bugs but like theres a lot of questions that simply go unanswered and they leave a lot of room for you to piece together what might be happening for yourself. putting an arg-like code solving thing into the third game really added to that mystery feeling too, solving a code from breadcrumbs left for you.

17:25 I'm a bit late but the reason that happened is because you had red pikmin selected and there were red pikmin in your party but they were not close enough to you to be thrown.
If you look to the bottom left you can see the red pikmin trying to make a b line to you but due to the vertical hight they are unable to reach you and thus after a bit of time become idle and in doing so leave your party, and because only rock pikmin are in your party now it switches to selecting them and because there are rock pikmin close to you you can throw them. Notice the x that appears over the potrate of the slected red pikmin when you can't throw them due to them being to far away from your charator.

I'm pretty sure Nintendo made a whole other language for the Hocotations and Koppaites to speak. It does take some influence from Japanese and proper nouns are the same, but the actual voice lines are repeated a lot for text.

I'm very late but my little tip for the Plasm Wraith chase is if you need to hold off the Wraith for a bit, letting it capture Olimar and defeating it is actually a good way to save some time so you don't have to worry about it killing any of your squad since it takes time to regenerate.
When you're drunk, or at least somewhat intoxicated, your personality to me is like a mix of Jerma, Vinesauce Vinny, and Mike Stoklasa.
