Alex Cox introducing Walker by ...Alex Cox (1987) 1108am 30.11.23 he's probably a massive phoney a cross between phil cool and lurch. other than that i concur - the film walker is a fine film. it is worth seeing. and i mean that. his film: straight to hell - was stolen from my collection. as was my copy of sid and nancy. of course, you know this - the thieves anticipated my comment backfiring. i am watching the film walker at present - a nice character study which does actually study the eponymous subject matter. it's like william blake's heaven and hell goes psycho. i still enjoy his amazing march through the Hispanic town asl his men are gunned down. undaunted he advances... as anyone would.

Funny thing about the real William Walker; his self-appointed presidency was actually a threat to Cornelius Vanderbilt’s commercial interests in Nicaragua, who funded native and foreign forces opposed to Walker’s rule. Yes, I know the film is not meant as a true retelling of events, but it leaves the wrong impression. The Cynical Historian did a good review on the movie.

Alex Cox introducing Walker by ...Alex Cox (1987) 1110am 30.11.23 the effed up nature of the film does suggest the "pathetic madman" literally did just walk into various countries and take control. he created a mutiny against Vanderbilt's interests. he became too big for his commissioned boots. good on Walker, I say... an anti-hero for the new millennium. worth seeing if only to sate some tired interest in quirky film making... film making is nigh-on a dead art.
