I am German, bought a Himalayan BS4 over here in India and absolutely recommend it to you, it can handle any situation with ease, while the GS engine doesn’t has torque in low rev the Enfield is giving you confidence in rough slow speed conditions. This engine always pulls you through, trust me. We already did 11.500 km on the Enfield without any trouble and the service is available across India and also very affordable. Don’t waste your Money, buy two Himalayan for the price of one GS and ride with your wife 💫 Somebody really think this alloy wheele on the GS will survive Offroad 😂, so really guys, overall the RE is the much smarter bike to buy. I also own a 2018 Tiger 800, trust me, I know what I am talking about. Have been riding GS 1200 for more than 10 years, this one I can recommend to you
If you had bought a Himalayan back in Germany, you would have gotten one with an ABS that can not be switched off at almost twice the price (4600 €) :( I'm tending towards the Himalayan - I just wish it had better brakes and an ABS switch. Maybe the 650 will give us that, but I guess it'll be close to 7k€ in Europe...
If the Himalayan costs half as much as the bmw it makes no sense to buy the bmw. Here in north America they cost almost the same so the bmw is slightly better at most things but in truth it comes down to what style of bike you want: modern day adventure bike look or classic styling look.
It's not only about the cost. For adve ture trails I think oil cooled over liquid cooled motorcycles are more preferable, even though it's a personal choice. In your country since the weather is not as hot as in the subcontinent the Himalayan or any oil cooled motorcyles would work flawless. The thing is the Himalayan is overall the more purposeful bike. The engine that pulls through everywhere like a tractor is a big plus. Without having ridden the BMW, it does look a lot more refined on every corner. But there is a toy factor to it where the Himalayan is just purpose. To Royal Enfield: - seat firmer foam material - front brake pads with higher friction rate - replace the wheels with tubeless alloy rims, or offer alternatively (some do not need spoked wheels) - consider water cooling, which would allow easily for 3 - 4 hp more without loosing the tractor-torque.
BMW = premium fuel Royal Enfield = regular fuel That alone can make a difference in choice. Premium fuel isn't available in all locations. If I'm really out traveling on a bike, I'd rather have the bike that I can easily get fuel for.

To me the Himilayan is simpler and more easily servicable. It seems to be valve adjustments that are the expensive maintenance item. Valve adjustments on my car have cost $0 in 150k.
Greetings from Germany. I could not decide which one I should get, so I got both. Your review is mostly true, but I think there's two important things you missed: the Baby GS is some 30kg lighter but has a mich higher seat. Even my wife can flat-foot on the Himalayan on the lowest rear shock preload, so when we ride as a couple, she takes the Himalayan, I take the GS. For the amount of money this bike cost me, and the name it carries, it was a disappointment. Things kept breaking. It is only doing 68,000kms at present. For 2021, the BMW G310GS gets a slipper clutch, all LED lighting and electronic throttle to narrow the technology gap with the 390 ADV. In India, BMW significantly lowered the price of their G310GS to better compete with the Himalayan and KTM 390 ADV. I hope they lower the US price as well.
Ironically here in the US, the Himalayan draws 10x the attention of just about anything else due to it setting itself completely apart from the standard dual sport bike in terms of appearance. Everywhere I go with it, I usually return to my bike with a few people checking it out, who then begin to ask questions. I suspect in India since RE is such a common sight, that people don't really gawk over them there, but here everyone and their cousin has a KTM or a BMW GS so people just pass them off as any other bike.

Great video, Faisal! Thanks for an excellent comparison. I have my dream bike -Honda Goldwing, but I've been GASing for an ADV bike. As cocerning the price - it's could never be an argument, if it is... take something of the lowest price possible and you are done, no comparison you need ever. What is more serious is a possibility to maintain your bike in the most abondand places with only traces of concurrent civilization. For those places Himalayan is unbeatable.
Just got the Bmw gs310! Very Happy with it!! Quality definitely cut above himalayan. Yes i like the himalayan aa well. Talking about VFM i agree price is more but bmw ofdering 0% down payment and 0% interest! I own a business and for me this is absolutely phenomenal deal!!😊
U guys can tell anything u want. I rode both of the bikes for a long time. Trust me on this. Once u ride BMW GS you will never go for any other bike at this price. Price is high but there is a reason for it. Some say the service cost is high for GS. Comeon... The first service is at 10k. So u can understand how confident BMW is. And the built in quality is also superior in case of BMW. I will tell you one thing. If you are looking for a long term bike, I mean for ten or more YEARS. BMW GS is the one for you. But if you are thinking to change within short terms. Then its not for you. Because its such a high quality built in bike. And I didn't understand why motobeam is making a lot of fuss about led bulbs. Because GS is providing superior halogen bulbs. If you are looking for budget go for Himalayan. But if you are looking for a long term bike then go for BMW GS. BELEIVE ME. YOU WILL NEVER REGRET IT. Its worth the price. Trust me on this.
Proudly owner of both. Each one of them has different style and offroading capabilities. Also different DNA. Honesty Himalayan is best at something where BMW isn't and vice versa GS310 will gv u quality of riding.
Himalayan's right front indicator is broken and kept hanging. Was it like that since before the test drive or was it damaged during it? Raises questions over indicator quality.
Question. You say that you can't turn off ABS on the Himalayan, but at 9:30, it's clearly locking up the rear. How did the bike manage that? Did you pull the ABS fuse?
Ive got an F650GS and am thinking of buying a Himalayan as well.. But I cant make my mind up.. Ive been told by many people the Himmy is better off road.. More research methinks..
I just want to see the BMW crossing American continent without any problems as I saw the Himalayan doing. In my opinion Royal Enfield until now has made “NO BULLSHIT MOTORCYCLEs“like military vehicles which they actually were. I didn’t know R.E, the first one I saw was in a UK tv program called our guy in India Channel 4. Then I learned the history behind the brand I just found it amazing.
For me, the RE looks like a motorcycle. Functional, purposeful, businesslike. The BMW looks like a toy. Looks like something from Star Wars. Don't get me wrong, I've got nothing against the movie; but, I want a motorcycle that looks like one, not a Jedi land skimmer. Seems like BMW is just trying too hard. It looks very breakable.
2 reasons why you would get either 1 they are cheap 2 you're a beginner if you like cheap stuff go for the royal if you like the bmw name go for the bmw. both have very similar performance but the front suspension would be the reason for the price.

As cocerning the price - it's could never be an argument, if it is... take something of the lowest price possible and you are done, no comparison you need ever.
What is more serious is a possibility to maintain your bike in the most abondand places with only traces of concurrent civilization.
For those places Himalayan is unbeatable.
Sir I love ur comparison video and keep it up.
How much was on road price?
L Raphael 4.12 lacks inr.
@@kunalthedude Is there a 0% dp and 0% interest now?
L Raphael yes i guess.contact bmw dealership bro
My Honda Dio service costs 10k.
For 2 years.
A thought a versys x300 will come in the end, but it didnt😂😂
5 lakhs+ on road🤣🤣
Why not to invest 3 lakhs more and get the 650 then😋
v-storm, africa and versys those are real bikes. Buy them and forget. BMW is not very reliable and don't even start about re.
Where is the windshield of the Himalayan
He stolen it while making video
Same here waiting for 650 Himalayan,since I heard -..-
Please mention the lightness of the clutch Since both are non slipper clutch. How is the lightness of the clutch lever?
Proudly owner of both.
Each one of them has different style and offroading capabilities. Also different DNA.
Honesty Himalayan is best at something where BMW isn't and vice versa
GS310 will gv u quality of riding.
Whatever is the best...Dio is the best adventure since it's born !!
What are the fence-like structures on motorcycles in India? Been seeing these a lot
Without the windshield, the Himalayan looks too plain..
Himalayan's right front indicator is broken and kept hanging.
Was it like that since before the test drive or was it damaged during it?
Raises questions over indicator quality.
I've bs4 himalayan with me. I clocked 140 kmph on my ride!
So, you might've got total body massage
When will Yamaha nmax and Honda pcx launch in India
Guys! You can hire me as the editor! I can definitely do a better job at this.
Question. You say that you can't turn off ABS on the Himalayan, but at 9:30, it's clearly locking up the rear. How did the bike manage that? Did you pull the ABS fuse?
They r the affordable adventure bike till the 390 adventures joins the party
Hope that it will like interceptor or continental
But I like more KTM engine
390 Adv Ktm will be priced near about 3L. No a good deal.
@@upward_onward but it will worth our penny
Ktm makes one of the finest off road bikes
Buy a Himalayan and with the money saved by not buying BMW, ride from Leh to Arunachal Pradesh and have an adventure of a lifetime!!
Love the review, but not the conclusion. At least where I am, the price is about the same. So the BMW wins easily.
i i rode both bikes and trust me himalayan is better than gs
The intresting part is ads by Apollo
I wait for KTM 390 adventure...
2 reasons why you would get either 1 they are cheap 2 you're a beginner if you like cheap stuff go for the royal if you like the bmw name go for the bmw. both have very similar performance but the front suspension would be the reason for the price.
Who edits ur video...........
He is just amazing
I have a Himalayan , it's fantastic handling, performance, ride quality, better mileage. And luxury too.. better than g310.
superb bro.... awsome detailed review
Himalayan is better off-road ...... until the frame breaks. And then the fanboys talk about "misuse". LOL
It’s sad to see such low mileage on both of these machines it’s better to buy interceptor 650 and add tubeless tires and enjoy better performance
What about reliability.which one is better?
After the Himalayan 650, the market for Sub 10Lakh bikes will go down drastically
Yep that's going to happen
Indians are obsessed with BMW. Fortunately here in Mexico they cost the same. I still can’t decide between theese two. The both are great.
you did not mention service periods and costs which is a significant factor
Cinematography was just FANTASTIC!
With a massive difference of 2 lakhs, the Himalayan definitely makes more SENSE!
