sanding the tail lights with 2000 grit should not be the last step...the last step should be to use Meguires Ultimate Compound and buff the shit out of it....worked perfectly on my 2006 charger tail lights.
it came out good looks great suggestion if you was to spray your clear coat three inches closer and move 2 times faster as bring the clear coat you wouldn't have to sand it would a 2000 wet sandpaper and it would give it a clear pop look just suggesting
After I put 3 coats on my tail lights I waited two hours then wet sanded mine as shown in video and I had scratch Mark's all over the tail lights? Did side to side like you said with wet 1000 grit not sure what's going on
Paul Blarts Garage there are different options of sand paper that might change the overall look, my recommendation would be give it a gloss spray which should erase all scratch lines, I have done it before with great results
You forgot to polish your clear coat for a gloss finish use some rubbing compound and a polish sealer and see the difference in time those lights are going to look matte color more like sun damaged you should have protected the clear coat. That is if you've already done it
Emma Sexton Sanding lightly between coats create a blurred outer coating which aids in a much better binding for the next coat to adhere to. Always light sand between coats for this purpose.
The better way of do this is removing al tail lights,it is very easy to remove and i think u do a better and completo job, still there is a easy\cheap ways to do this
Why not just remove the tail lights and paint them off the car? Seems way easier than spending 45 minutes taping off the car and you don't have to worry about overspray.
You will spend 45 minutes just getting the center tail light out not to mention possibly breaking them or clips. Trust me I've been through this already on a 2013. Although I did take the two outer tail lights out.
+Sebastian Carpio yeah came out awesome, i also noticed he had wax build up and was able to use paint thinner to clean them really well, gave them a nice shiny finish!
This is a horrible painting technique. In order to get a perfectly even paint density and colouring, application should be done from one side completely over to the other and no stopping in between. Anyone who works in a paint shop will say the same thing.
ABSOLUTELY DONT DO IT !! I DID IT AND THE LIGHTS LOOK TO FADED! REGRET IT NOW I GOTTA FIND A SOLUTION ! EITHER UPGRADE LIGHTS OR MESS UP MY TAILLIGHTS AND TRY TO REMOVE THE PAINT!
Not sure if you still have them but use 2000 grit sand paper clean them and put 1 last coat of clear but make sure the note shade is equally sprayed all around.
I see a lot of unnecessary comments so I had to let you know that I think it looks great and thanks for the video 👍🏾

never seen anyone sand it or clear coat it, looks great
I tried to find weat solutions but couldn't find any.. 😪
I cant image the amount of overspray that must be all over the car.
LiquidFusionStudio1 ikr he could have easily taken the taillights out
If you go to Napa and get a can of black paint with 30% clear mix in you can just spray it on and it will be transparent
HARD AS HELL AND THANK YOU! Any tips on the black letters I want to paint gloss

Great Job Bro Taillights looks good!! Thanks for the info
the work looks great, nice video
Good step-by-step video, Nice work!!! But the question is...if you want to remove it, how would you go about doing so?

Paul Blarts Garage you might have added too much pressure what kind of sand paper did you use?
@@mrkharp 1000 grit

@@mrkharp ya the clear coats helped alot but I was too generous on one lens and got a pretty decent run. Currently looking at options to fix this run.
Paul Blarts Garage sanding and clear again
It looks great man it really does. You did an excellent but, I think it would be easier to just buy the covers for them. Either way it looks cool.
I tried the covers, but at 145mph they will come off. I did the paint and deleted the reverse light. It looks much better without it.
@@viper10ram Get out with your illegal ass.
FintanSky you gotta have tha white strip?
Covers cost more and fly off at high speeds. This method cost 42.00 at advance auto or Walmart and takes about 3 hours due to dry and sanding periods.
Paul Blarts Garage Yeah true. Forgot about that lol. Looks badass. Mopar all the way!
Im going to do it to my dodge charger 392 but if I follow your exact steps would it look weird at night?
Which clear coat to use?!
You forgot to polish your clear coat for a gloss finish use some rubbing compound and a polish sealer and see the difference in time those lights are going to look matte color more like sun damaged you should have protected the clear coat. That is if you've already done it
Is there anything you can recommend aside from the nite shade?
Does this affect lights? Can you see the lights when the car is on past all those coats of nite shade and sandpaper
Yes nightshade is regulation. And I purely don't understand how the fuck you think sandpaper would effect the lights. That makes zero sense.
Why do you have to sand it? I'm looking into doing this and everyone says sand it out. My parents might flip, lol.

Nice job bro!
Hey Do you have a put Clear Coat
Looks awesome
Should have followed your directions. I just messed mine up.
Did he "weat" sand the last one? (serious question but joking about the spelling) ;)
Nicely done.
Looks good!

Why is it a matte finish? Every other video of VHT I've seen it has a glossy look.

very good👍👍
do you have a video on how it looks in the night while break lights are push and not
From the direction of the wind, really hope it didnt get onto your rear window. I would be sad as :(
Phew :P
should of just taken the lights off to get under and above the light and not worry about taping the car off
+Sebastian Carpio i have actually done it, took me 2 hours total with letting the paint dry
+Sebastian Carpio yeah came out awesome, i also noticed he had wax build up and was able to use paint thinner to clean them really well, gave them a nice shiny finish!
***** no problem man! Its always good to get all the device you can! Its all about taking everything in!

Do to police say something about it or not I mite do mine that same
I did mind and cops never pull me over
Nice video, but do you have a mopar tattoo on your forearm? 5:39 or 5:40 lmao
Can you say OVERSPRAY!!!
I would just hate sanding my taillights

I've never seen so many misspelled words in a RUclips video
English obviously isn’t his first language who cares
Since when did wet get an A in it? 1:35

Did you follow the video exactly? Clear coat and sanding ???
Not sure if you still have them but use 2000 grit sand paper clean them and put 1 last coat of clear but make sure the note shade is equally sprayed all around.
yeah then when you go to sell the car you just dropped the value by about $1,000
bellevernon15012 that's a lie lol. Most dealerships don't even care
